What's Right With Me Moment inspired by my friend +Jason Kowing 's life-changing post found here: http://tinyurl.com/8tvhe86
Today was a beautiful day: Sunny and cool with my mini-lilacs in bloom and the irises a bit worse for wear due to our storms the past several nights. What to do? Make a bouquet! I got out my favorite vase, my scissors and a smile and set about arranging a fragrant and colorful burst of joy for this day of finals prep. I sat on my enclosed porch, turned the stereo on and inhaled the fragrance as I finished prepping for the tort law final tomorrow.
I spent a bit of quality time this morning before starting the studying to sketch out a new piece of work, which helped the stress levels considerably. I can't wait to begin coloring it in tomorrow.
Tonight, I am grateful for +David Kipp , the hubber who enjoys doing puzzles for sol... more »

The next challenge: Fitting 3 pages of notes for the essay exam onto 1 page and then copying it onto the back of the questions so that questions are on one side and my case analysis is on the other. The prof allows one piece of paper for the answers.. oy vey! 8 pt type isn't cutting it. Suggestions?

Hello bartender? I'd like a lobotomy on the rocks, please. Shaken and a bit stirred. GRRRRRRRRRR nothing like collaborating on tort law and in the process of double-checking the legal analysis, realizing that my partner has all of the parties wrong in her analysis. I thought I was the one who screwed up until I re-read the question. I will be sooooooooooo glad when this thing is over tomorrow.
And for what's right with me. . .I have wine and art supplies.

Waving to the lovely Pluskers! sorry to be so late in saying hello but finals prep and studying have kept me away. Time for a break. I began a new multi media piece this morning (it is sketched out at least). Up next, outlining, colored pencils, maybe trying a bit of wax resist, some watercolor, perhaps a bit of collage and tangling in a few areas. This piece is a bit out the norm for me, but I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Another piece is in the works as well. I was asked to participate in a local show that is focusing on Agrarian Decay. I have decided to interpret the theme in terms of gmos, pesticides and the degradation of the food supply. I envision a ramshackle round barn, corn, skull and crossbones and who knows what else. Looking forward to both of these projects.
What are you up to today?

+Khrystiane Friedli has created a beautiful video about the third HWSI book "How We See It...the nature of our worlds" and the Charity Print sale that co-incides with the book's release. Yesterday I received my prints from the Charity Print Sale, and they are wonderfully printed by Bay Photo. Today I received my copies of the books from Blurb books, and they are beautifully printed. Part of an interactive art project at the show yesterday. I painted one of the 1st areas. So much fun. The completed project became a gorgeous mosaic. Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone and it was needed for processing payments so I didn't get photos of the completed mosaic.

Had a terrific time at Savor the Flavor, an art, music, food, wine/beer tasting event yesterday. +David Kipp & +Heidi Hirschbach were lots of fun and a a great help with setup and passing the time.
David, thank you much for scouting out the gluten-free options for me and telling me where the cool art was. Such a sweet act of love, honey.
Heidi, I love your enthusiasm! You make the time fly!
I sold my 1st stranger sale thanks to +David Kipp who was manning the store so Heidi and I could network with other artists and sample the offerings. This piece sold for the $30 I was asking + a $10 tip because the buyer enjoyed my work so much. I may have the opportunity to collaborate with him for aviation photography. A very good day, indeed.

The Weekend Share-a-thon
I'm sharing you!
Reply with a link to your best work and I'll share it!
(But READ the RULES below first)
So I went to my profile this morning and yesterday's post is just gone.
All those wonderful comments from you folks, all your plusses and shares … gone.
I'm really frustrated with this photo upload bug right now so I thought, instead of sharing my work and the liabilities involved with the current #GooglePlusUpdate , I will share your wonderful work until it's fixed.
Here are the RULES
1– Go to your best shot in the lightbox and copy the link in the address bar and put it in the comments here. if the link you've gathered ends in "posts" it will go directly to your profile stream, NOT the image and I won't be able to share your best shot. I won't spe... more »

Good morning, my lovely pluskers! It is a sunny and warm morning with temps in the high 80s by the end of the day and a potential for severe storms throughout the day tomorrow.
Lots on the plate today: I have been working out my legal analysis for my tort law final next week (almost done - yay!) and prepping for an art show this afternoon with +Heidi Hirschbach and +David Kipp . Hoping to do well and make some sales. We shall see. Either way, it will be fun to listen to music, do wine tasting, have appetizers and mingle with other artists to network and learn. What are you up today? Whatever it is, make it a good one.

The Hand of Fate
Thanks to +Paulissa Kipp for the intricate, and challenging artwork. It took a couple of takes before I decided that this is where I wanted to go with it - straightforward on the surface, but the undertones speak so loudly.
I believe this is her original piece, but she can correct me if I'm wrong. I've had trouble getting access to a color printer until recently.

Today was a gorgeous day: sunny and in the 70s. A beautiful day to enjoy mother (Nature). I am proud of myself for how far I've come in my approach to Mother's Day. While Mother's Day is still a source of anxiety due to my background, today I was able to change the story and focus on who and what nurture me.
Today's blessings:
Shooting images of my neighbor's tulips
Walking residents along the labyrinth in the courtyard and pointing out the birds
Being taught how to cast on in knitting by a resident who held my hand and told me to relax
Coming home to a mowed lawn, clean laundry, dishes done and dinner cooked by my husband
I found peace in the day regardless of backgr... more »

Spending Time With Mother (Nature) #mothersday
For me, Mother's Day is bittersweet due to an abusive background. But this year, I am changing the story around it and re-defining mother. Read on to see what I've learned:
Spending Time With Mother (Nature)
Today is Mother's Day in the United States. A day to thank Mom for all she has done to bear us, for the sacrifices, the love, the meals, the guidance and for her presence. Mother's Day has a long and interesting history. Mother's Day began as a progressive movement advocated for by a handful of activist women.
In 1858, when Anna Reese Jarvis, a young Appalachian homemaker, organized "Mother's Work Days" to improve the sanitation and avert deaths from disease-bearing insects and seepage of polluted water. Anna began giving carnations to mothers in her Methodist ... more »

Last night we attended In My Father's Eyes, a historical drama by playwright Mary Kathryn Nagle, at Fort Omaha, my college campus.
Fort Omaha is best known for its role in the landmark trial in Omaha in 1879 of Ponca Chief Standing Bear. In 1877, the Ponca Indians were forced by the U.S. Government to give up their homeland and move south, leaving behind most possessions and journeying on foot the 500 miles to Indian Territory in Oklahoma. Chief Standing Bear wished to honor the request of his dying son to be buried in his homeland by the Niobrara River. As Chief Standing Bear and a burial party of 30 Indians started North, the Secretary of the Interior ordered General Crook to arrest them for leaving the reservation. General Crook followed orders to arrest Chief Standing Bear and place him under guard at Fort Omaha. However, General Crook’s sentiments were with Chief Standing Be... more »
