Milky Way Moonrise
New Hampshire

Here's a shot from very early today.  I knew I had an hour between the time that the Milky Way would be fully visible and the time that the moon would rise.  It's hard to tell in this super wide angle shot, but that is a crescent moon rising over the horizon.  It didn't wash the sky out quite so bad when it was low, but as it rose the sky became brighter.  It was really beautiful to see a perfect orange crescent moon low on the horizon.

An Interesting History of 1752.
Here is an interesting historical fact. Just have a look at the calendar for the month of September 1752.
Go to Google type "September 1752 calendar" & see for yourself.
You will notice, 11 days are simply missing from the month.
Here's the explanation: This was the month during which England shifted from the Roman Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar.
A Julian year was 11 days longer than a Gregorian year. So, the King of England ordered 11 days to be wiped off the face of that particular month.
So, the workers worked for 11 days less that month, but got paid for the whole month. That's how the concept of "paid leave" was born. Hail the King!!!

Beautiful Love Between A Girl & Wild Animals

Some photographers make a name for themselves by creating portraits of children, while others create similar images of wild animals. Photographer Robin Schwartz does both — at the same time.

Since 2002, Schwartz has been photographing her daughter Amelia while the young girl interacts with all kinds of creatures in the animal kingdom. Subjects have included everything from dogs and cats to monkeys, kangaroos, and elephants.

Schwartz says her goal with the photographs is to present the animals as an ordinary part of our world, so the photographer refrains from glamorizing the animals or using them in cliché ways.

The Owl In The City

Its amazing what you get to see in the city, this Bengal Eagle Owl was there with her owner Rob from Talonted Feahters, she was very pleasant and I got to stroke her before I took this image, Rob was great too, very knowledgeable in his field and answered all my questions. I love these birds.

International Space Station Florida flyover tonight. Canon 6D 1300mm, 10 second exposure. Scope had not stopped wobbling from me moving it ahead of the track so a bit wavy, but my first catch and a bit of starfield in back like I wanted :)
