Sean Cowen43,829My Morning Circle: By Far, The Most Interesting and Unusual Circle I've Ever Created...In the beginning of October, I asked people to dig down deep and give me names of great people to add to a must-read morning circle. ( http://bit.ly/16ow9Cm ) This is the FIRST CIRCLE of those names. I have omitted a few names by my own prerogative and I've left off PAGE names as I'd like to create a separate circle for those. By and large, though, this list is the result of all the recommendations I received. There are more names to follow, as I'm still working down through the comments...What I Originally Asked of Anyone Leaving Comments and Recommendations...I'm looking for a SINGLE CIRCLE of pure awesomeness - a circle that gives me incredible content, insight, analysis, humor, a dose of the erudite, funny, sad, melancholy, happy - in short - I'm looking for one circle to throw into my stream that gets my days started off on the right foot. But I need your input. Who should I add to this circle? We all know the usual suspects (and some of those people will definitely be included if you recommend them), but I am seeking and searching for those little mentioned and possibly unknown to me people who will jump start my day.I'm not looking for popularity or anything specific - just let me know about the people you would include if you were creating this same circle. #circle   #coolcircle   #recommendedcircle   #circleoftheday  P.S. Added myself against my better judgement as I was chosen on this list as well. Now you know... :-)2013-10-20 15:53:26499612966

Jason Ramsey10,304#circles  I've been so busy sharing other peoples circles I haven't done one of my own in a while, so here it is.This is a #circle  that is made up of the most active people on my profile so far this month. It also includes a new page I've started devoted to music that bears the same name of a website I run, #TotalClassicRock . If you're into music, please join my Rock On Communtiy:  https://plus.google.com/communities/105751692971789931821I didn't want the circle to be to big so I stopped at 180. Hopefully this will allow most people to 'add' the circle as well as share it, and most if not all of these people will 'add' you back.+Christine DeGraff is still my G+ inspiration, no one works harder at it than she does, so please add her. If you want to grow your circles you need to join her community as well: #CircleMaster       #CircleQueen   https://plus.google.com/communities/110536893180065728400Please share, add, and plus. Mastering Circles9,473#CircleMaster   #Circle  No. 6PLEASE READ: I'm making a few changes to encourage those who are NOT in circles to start sharing and to encourage those IN circles to participate more on my page and not feel so much pressure to share.1) If you are IN the circle, please share it.2) If you are NOT IN the circle, but I have you circled and you were already shared in other circles this week, please remember that not everyone will be added to every single circle because that would be like sharing the same circle everyday. To be included a little more often, please help me increase engagement on my page by plussing and commenting on more of the things I share here more often.3) If you are NOT IN the circle, but I have you circled and you have NOT YET been shared in one of my circles, please make sure you have me circled and that you are participating on this page by plussing, commenting and occasionally sharing. Also make sure you have a profile photo. Jake Kern24,894The Silver DonutBeen wanting to do a circle share for a while, but I just haven't wanted to put in the work to get a group of 100 for another #GoldenDonut. Instead, I grabbed the top 500 from my Google relevancy algorithm. Then I removed a couple people who don't like being in circle shares & some pages so I could stretch the 500 a bit. (For instance, both +Melissa Bagley & +Melissa Ann Bagley Photography would be in the circle--in the top 25, actually--but I just included Melissa's personal profile even though you should circle both.)Many amazing people in here. Thank you for making this corner of the Internet worthwhile.Peace. #SilverDonut  2013-07-13 22:19:3849915023134

Brad Leclerc28,193I haven't shared a circle in a while, and since I seem to have a flood of new circlers lately, I figure now might be a good time to get back into the habit. Starting with this circle of 150~ awesome people, which I have named my "Inner Sanctum".They post on a wide range of topics, from gaming, to science, to writing, to politics (across the spectrum, so you might not agree with everything they all say), to movies, to saucy photos, and everything in between. There are even a few slightly more well known and/or celebrity types in here, though they're all fairly active about posting, and interacting in general). They all really have only one thing in common: they make my G+ stream epic. You really can't go wrong with this circle. Trust me on that.2013-05-09 05:33:39151629
Fredrik Ax1,259The, according  to Google, 300, for me, most relevant persons in my circlesSome time ago +Erik Andersson shared his 492 most relevant people[1] which was an idea I found fun, so I'm doing the same with my 300 most relevant. But I had some trouble compiling this circle, it seems that I can only add or move 200 people around my circles per day. I wonder if Google changed that or if the number is dependent on how many you already have in your circles. Anyway, having 300 in this circle may be stupid then, because if the number is 200 some people who not already have a lot of the profiles in my this circle in theirs, will not be able to add it.Anyway, it's interesting to try to figure how Google comes up with this order of people. I agree that the top ones (when I'm viewing the circle) are absolutely relevant for me, but scrolling down I would peronally have a totally different order of people, and some that did not even make it among the top 300 I would place very high up.-- [1] https://plus.google.com/113538385219043438319/posts/WV3Uszpg9E92013-05-04 14:36:0130044035

We've not been well around here. I played a little, worked a little, but mostly coughed, sneezed and sniffled - yeah, and I whined - for the week.

Feeling a little better, I decided to play a bit. Especially after +Eva Hausmann tagged me into a post about water marbling as nail art.

These are four new colors... and I should have done only one or two fingers at one time instead of all four at once. The design shows on the first finger, then gets muddied and then returns (almost!) on the pinky.
Ah well. It's a new set of polishes and I think with a bit more patience they will do just fine. That and I need to remember not to try to do all four fingers at once.
:)

Time to go clean up my work table. You wouldn't believe the mess this makes!

Triptych is almost finished. It is my first-ever multi-canvas piece and also a brush test. What do these brushes do? What lines do they make? Do they hold up well under my mess-making?

It will be looked at once more and when I decide I'm done adding to it, a single coat of sealant added.

Hangouts lately have been gigglefests. With kids and grandkids, with G+ friends... giggles abound.

Work has arrived and I am thrilled with it! The plan now is to turn each piece of the project around as quickly as I can.

The press release for the flashlight exhibition is in the writing stages.

The planning for sending the Bearded Guy away for 6 weeks is in motion.

So right now, things are all moving along. But there are always little bits and pieces missing or delayed.

This is what happens when you teach a grandchild how to use Hangout Effects and how to take screen shots while in a hangout.

There is simply nothing funnier to a two-year-old than the sound of a fart on a tablet game.

Might have to take it away from him soon, he's far too happy to play this game... for a LONG time.

There's work and housework, there's music going on and general fun, but there's also a tablet.
Toca Boca games, y'all. Lots of fun for tiny folk, matching colors and shapes and making things happen and different noises. They are not super-cheap, but a few dollars to make a child laugh is worth it to me.

Yesterday, I put feathers on my thumbs. What a difference between the sticker feather and the hand-painted one. I would like my hands to stop shaking.

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
The Pocket Viking has moved from the farting sound to the music maker. Yeah, I will live with this.
How much are you willing to let your toddlers play with tablets?

And today begins ...
I've managed my morning games, I've had some coffee, and preparations for work begin shortly.

Hoping to get some painting in today and possibly some piano again. But first there must be work. Four videos wait for my attention. Two short, one standard, one long. This is good. This is paid work.

It's the total amount of minutes of video that is daunting. Have I taken on too much? Maybe... but then again, maybe not. We will see later - how badly does my brain fry after I'm in the office for an hour?

Of course there is always general housework to be done. And tonight, we get a Pocket Viking visit!
So I really want at least one of these videos off my desk before he arrives. It's sad when I have to work instead of having time to play with the little guy.

It is a bit difficult to work when the power goes out.
We've been rather lucky here and we don't lose power often - I don't think our average is even one time per year. But this early morning - 6AM - we can hear the snow plows outside and we happened to be sitting up when everything blinked and went dead.

Online? Well, I have a mini modem, after the last time we had internet issues.
Lights? Lots of flashlights in this house. Particularly right now, since we purchased 20 small ones for the upcoming exhibition.
Heat? Nope - that won't hold up for long. But generally, the rooms are warm enough, so I don't expect to freeze any time soon.
Cooking? We just ate. As in... just finished a few minutes ago. So no worries about food.
Coffee and tea? Oh, crap, now we have an issue.

I'm busy busy today again.
But it's good. Work and more work. And then some more work. And then yet another project.

I love my clients. Most of them, anyway.

Still deciding if and where to hang the triptych. I see it as more childlike than I would prefer my works to be. Ah, well.

In an attempt to do a pastel galaxy manicure, I ended up with something that was a bit more... surreal.
At least the glitter came out the way I wanted it to. Light and only barely there.
Still working on the use of sponges - I love the way it hit on the tip of my first finger, but not so much the middle of my pinky. I really have to spend more time practicing.

Speaking of which, the piano calls to me. After I do this project for tomorrow, I will sit down at the keyboard for at least half an hour. I have new sheet music ... okay, not NEW, just haven't looked at... more »

But there are indeed two other things of importance before that. I plan to clear myself out of the living room and clear the Bearded Guy out of my studio (and into his).

For two people who buy what they want/need as often as possible, we really need to cut back and get rid of all the packaging of said purchases. He spent the better part of an hour today breaking down cardboard boxes and packaging up bags of plastics in preparation for a trip to the local recycling center. I have a bag of shredded paper that can go, plus a few more bags of bottles, cans and advertising paper that should be removed. I feel overrun - and I think that's what has been affecting us. We are happy enough, but stressed and the stress is the level of extra stuff that needs to go away.

One of the things I ordered was a dual USB drive. A regular USB A port on one side and a micro USB on the other. What was I thinking? I don't need this for file transfers because I keep so little on my phone or tablet that needs to be put on the computers. So why did I think this was a good idea?
Another item is the 14-slot USB hub! Now this... I have serious plans for this item. I know that two of my dongles prefer to be plugged in directly and prefer not to be in hubs... but everything else? On the hub!
I hope the printer will be happy with a hub plug. Even with 6 USB ports on the computer, there are never enough for all the little bits and pieces that must be plugged in - even temporarily.

Grandkids in hangouts.... one short story and then I'm back to other things. Last night, I got a phone call.  "Mormor, please start a hangout, Little D is banging on the computer and waving."
Yup, my grandson who is only a year old and does not actually speak as yet, has figured out how to ask for seeing me online.

Do (did) your tiny children have clear ways of asking for things?___

This is the third of his recent stories. This time, I know a bit about what's coming. He's been discussing the idea with me.

This will be looooong. Settle in or move on.

I'm going to share the beginning of a short story that just had to get out of my head this morning. It is based on a short scene in a TV series that I recently subtitled, plus a nightmare I had recently. The two suddenly conflated, and I had the opening scene and the general timeline of the story. The rest will have to come when/if it does.

If you take the time to read all of the below, I would appreciate any and all comments. Alright, here goes...

*****

I hear my name, and I know it's over. It's Iliana's voice, and she's behind me, not far away. A few meters at best. Sound carries in the snow-covered forest, but I still know that she is only a few arms' lengths behind me. I can almost feel her body heat burning my exposed neck between the peacoat and the black, rolled woolen cap on my head. I realize that I have tensed on hearing her, and I let my shoulders drop a bit, the rifle in my left hand rocking slightly as it descends a centimeter or two.

The blood stains on the snow in front of me are slowly eating away the smooth white surface,  dark, jagged rivulets creating little canyons down toward the hidden ground. There's a light steam rising off the newly-spilled blood in the cold. The deer I just shot twitches one last time, then goes as limp as I feel.

That shot, less than a minute ago, was probably what finally led Iliana to me. But if she hadn't come now, she'd surely have been waiting in the cabin as I returned with the deer carcass, covered in its blood. That would have somehow been a more apt scene, I guess.

But this works just as well; the killer caught with his prey.

For the briefest of moments, I think about just shooting her. The rifle still has two bullets in the magazine, and in the hip-deep snow, she wouldn't be able to run fast enough to get away. After all, it would be just another kill added to the list that began with Sarah Nolan only a few weeks ago. Even if Iliana was the one who first showed me that Sarah was an unrepentant child killer and in so doing, set these events rolling; even if this is all her fault, in a sense, I just can't bring myself to harm her.

And it's not that Iliana is innocent. Most of the people who breathed their last because of me these last few weeks were innocent. It's that Iliana actually knows. She's the last and only person who can explain why I have done these terrible things. And I need that. Not for an apologetic eulogy or an exculpatory death notice, but to hear it for myself.

She calls my name again, but this time it doesn't have the rising cadence of a question; she knows it's me. I sigh a puff of smoke, and drop the rifle, which is immediately swallowed up by the snow, hitting the ground underneath it with a muffled thump.

Then I turn around. Iliana is crying. I realize that I am too.

The alarm went off at 7:24 (7:15 plus 9 minutes snooze time), and I briefly considered not showering before going in to the school. But since I had a long day ahead of me and I shared an office with a lovely undergraduate that I somehow felt the need to impress, despite her being far too young for me and quite obviously not the least bit interested, I got myself under running water before 7:30.

I was in the faculty lounge by a little after eight, exuding an odd combination of mango/orchid shower gel and Kouros that made even me somewhat uneasy. No matter, at least it wasn't sweat/cardigan and sad middle-aged desperation, as would probably have been the guess of anyone seeing a photo of my shaggy apparition. By 8:15 I was in front of the first of my several Sociology classes of the day, explaining Anti-positivism (it was early in the semester).

At lunch, Joe Carter – history professor with absolutely no ability to draw even rudimentary conclusions from his voluminous knowledge – made me promise to go to an alumni fund raiser event in his stead. Before I could get him to make me a counter-promise - something along the lines of giving me his dessert at lunch for a week – he was off, once again predicting the fall of North Korea, without bothering to explain why it hadn't fallen the fifty previous times he had predicted that it would. So now I had promised to rub elbows with the rich and dim in order to fund the new school library, and all I was getting in return was an oft-recounted list of the many deficiencies of the Kim Il Sung government. It was beginning to feel like a Monday.

By around 3 PM, I was hunched over my desk, grading papers in my cramped office, an office which had not been graced with the presence of a lovely undergraduate all day. When I heard a noise by the door and looked up, I wasn't too disappointed not to see sultry undergrad there. Instead, chem lab assistant Iliana popped her head around the corner, asking if I too was going to that fundraiser on Friday evening - and for the first time since Carter had press-ganged me into going to that event, I was happy that I'd agreed; Iliana was good company at events like this: sarcastic, smart and irreverent.

Suddenly, Friday wasn't looking so bad.

*

Sarah Nolan was a debutante, 40 years ago. But she still carried herself with that unassailable certainty of greatness that seems to be almost exclusively the domain of either the very rich or of great athletes. She sat across from me at table 3, one of 20 large round tables seating eight, placed around the ballroom of the Grandine Forest Hyatt for the library fundraiser. She wasn't the life of the party; she didn't need to be. She was aloof, if glittery and bejeweled, only deliberately calling attention to herself when showing her bid paddle during the many auction sections of the evening.___Yet again, the Bearded Guy Who Lives At My House is venturing into story-telling.

Still turned around sleep-wise so I'll head to the bed shortly. But before I go... How much delay in the "bits and pieces" can you tolerate?

We already know I don't wait well for shipments, and can stand a bit of disarray... but delays generally? Oy veh.___

New nail polishes, a 3-panel acrylic piece in progress, plus boxes to get cleared and stored away. My studio is in disarray and I don't like it.

But things are moving along. Part of the problem is a bunch of new supplies. Nail art supplies, acrylic supplies... But within that is also a set of boxes for sewing and two boxes of things that haven't even been sorted out yet.

Oy, veh.

I should stop creating and finish storing, perhaps?

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
Once again, my inner clock is turned around. I'm on ... Japan time lately, it seems.
How much of disarray do you allow in your creative areas before stopping everything to clear it all away?

Christmas plant - Amaryllis.
Seven (!) blooms.

Now, the problem. I can't get enough light on this thing to make it really show nicely. And adjusting levels in Photoshop makes the walls look orange.
They are not.
And the petals look brown-edged.
They are not.

Perhaps for next birthday/Christmas I ask for light?

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!

Tack så mycket, Lelle - jag ska fråga Birgitta om bästa metoden för växt.

Hiding in my office today. The Bearded Guy has friends over for some games and I have work to do.
So - instead of going out of town like I normally would, I've shut the door to my room and will only be seen to get another cup of coffee.

How do you get a proper photo of snow falling? I tried shutter speed, but that obviously wasn't the right thing...

In an attempt to clear my head of all the rotten things...

There is an Amaryllis on the shelf with three huge blooms and two more about to break open.

There is a computer in the house (arrived yesterday, thanks, Dell!) which needs more software installation.

Along with the computer, another shipment of supplies for office and art. Why did I think I needed 26 more tubes of acrylic paint? There are new canvases to cover in aforementioned paint.

On a really good note - a client requested a contract, which is not all that unusual. Generally, the contracts are about not sharing the files, not discussing plots, and the fee agreement. Go away, rotten things. I will remember you as required, but I can not have you taking over my head and making it so that I can not write, cannot paint, cannot work.

It's official - the gallery location is booked.
More on that later - we are wording the release note.  :)

Before our meeting, we did a bunch of shopping... so of course there are new polishes at my house. Particularly when some things are 40% off, it's especially hard to leave them behind.

New set of minis! 10 from Formula X and one from Monki.
And a fan. A lovely fan, actually. I've been using magazines and books, extra pieces of cardboard... so the Bearded Guy decided it was time I had a nice hand fan.  Love it!

Yup, happy girl. And work waiting for me when I got home... now, where did I put that coffee?

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
Did you get some things done today?

edited to add: yes, that one red is a bit sad. I might be able to fix it with my thinnner... at 40% off, I wasn't going to fuss.  :)

Look, the Amaryllis blossomed!

I'm getting ready to leave. We have a meeting in Stockholm.

But the photos I took of the blossom yesterday actually turned out fairly well.

Plenty of coffee in me, I think I'm ready for the meeting. Not looking forward to the snow.
Are you going out into the weather today? Will you dress properly for it? Be honest, now!

Well, I've had coffee. I've left the confines of my couch fortress for the great outdoors and gone shopping. I've sent a note to Dell to ask for proper tracking on my new computer. I've sent a copy of a blank invoice to a new client. I've done a little reading. I've done a little playing.
At 2 in the afternoon, you'd think that more would have been accomplished today.

There's part of me that thinks I should just go down the hall and get started on whatever I can manage to do on that iffy desktop system and just barrel through until the new one arrives. There's this fear of something going truly screwy and losing data, though.

C'mon, Dell, this isn't like you. I know it's holiday season, but can't we at least get proper tracking? Please?

Posting now to show +Deyana Deco the absolute MESS made while testing a technique.  (But it's grand fun!)

On one side of my art table, a small canvas, several brushes, a tearaway palette and a cup of water.
Ignore all the nail art supplies - I was doing both.  :)

Using water in the acrylic definitely changed the mint green to something resembling yellow. And the black dots of rhinestone roll with water shine a bit compared to the washed-out black dots that should eventually be the underside of the roll.
Not yet complete, but will definitely go on the bathroom wall with my other "copies of my favorite nail art".

Sponge brush for the mint green / yellow.
One watercolor brush that's been cut way down and does rather nice rounds when I'm careful.
One formerly nail art fine brush (for outlines).

It's not been a bad day. Some dishes, some cooking, a bath with Lush, a mask while soaking, stamped on top of my recent manicure and a little photography. Yeah, this is how a Sunday should be spent.___

New polish Georgio Armani number 103.
It's too early on a Sunday morning, but there's enough coffee in me to keep me up a bit longer. I believe this to be dry enough so that there are no worries about picking up blanket texture on the nails. It's okay. Not grand, just okay. With all 10 exactly alike, I'll probably decorate them later.

The Dell shipping is not easily tracked, but the desktop computer is indeed on the way. Possibly Monday or Wednesday? (Tuesday is a holiday here.) It's not a panic for me yet, still waiting on one more detail for the project, so as far as I can tell right now, there's still a bit of time.

My darling brides are being quite kind to me, but my darling grooms say the girls are actually bridezillas in disguise. I have to giggle at that.

Late night wakefulness means hangouts with grandchildren just before bedtime. It's fun to see them - and that at least improves my mood when I am up.

Started a new mini acrylic. Trying out a brush. Considering making it water/acrylic - as in, mixing more water into the paint. We'll see.

That's another thing. Have ordered 10 more canvases of a larger size than I'm accustomed to working on. Have a plan for 3 of those, but after the three... I have no idea.

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
Quiet today, I think. Do you have plans, or shall we all just go on back to bed?___

One of the items in my Advent Calendar was a roll of dots. Not sure how else to describe it. Inverted rhinestones all hooked together?

Anyway, as part of deciding what to do with them, I cut off one row and used that for nail decoration.
A bit high, but I thought it looked groovy.

Currently with bare nails as there are so many new things to play with!

I won't do my nails again until there's more coffee in me.
What do you fear "messing up" if you haven't properly woken up yet?

Finally remembered to ask Lovely Mommy for permission to post this - after all, she's in it with our Pocket Viking.

Christmas Eve presents at our house for the kids. The Bearded Guy on the floor to finish putting together the Formula 1 racing car for the Pocket Viking. But that one... last... screw... just would not go in. This shot was taken right before he let me finish the job.  :)
The other present was a toddler's tool kit and so the Pocket Viking and Lovely Mommy are playing there so as not to interrupt the Bearded Guy's car-building.

After all - don't you need a tool kit when you get a car?

One new polish test of the several received this holiday season.
Between Glossybox, Advent Calendar (Thanks, Bearded Guy!), gift cards and a huge sale....

A test of Michael Kors polish. One thin coat. Seche top.
It's a bit bright, but that's okay. I was happy enough with the formula, but definitely glad to get this one with a gift card! I won't buy another.

Saving my pennies to get a Louboutin in May.  :D

I've just placed the order for the new desktop computer. A Dell 3020, and Win7 installed, 8.1 ready.
The more I read about Windows, the less I want to stay there. My apologies to those of you who work with Cloud systems on a regular basis, but I'm fussy about my business information and I don't want it online, even with security and passwords in place. I'm weird that way.

The piece should arrive on the 2nd of January, just in time for me to spend one day setting up everything and then getting straight to work. There won't be time to breathe - the new big project arrives the 2nd of January and is due on the 30th... I've got to get to work, no major delays.

In other news, the presents are all unwrapped, the children are happy and hangouts allowed me to watch my kids and grandkids open presents at home!

When can I take the tree down?

The computer has been acting a little tired. I went back to check and it'll be three years old in April.

That's too soon. Too soon for a desktop system. And especially since I've just missed the cut-off for Win7 systems. All the new ones come with Win8.

And while I'd like very much to go to Chrome OS... my subtitling software is built for Win machines. Piffle.

Top that off with just having recently purchased the Air and my computer systems budget is kind of empty.  So I'm currently sitting here trying to decide which pocket to take this from.

I really did not want to buy a new system. I'm hoping to baby the MB Pro (which will run my subtitling software on BootCamp), for another 6 months of use.

And I'm bored with throwaway systems. Computers should not require rebuilds or replacements in only 3 years.

Or am I wrong?

Just glad I got through the first project before finding out I'd have to figure the next project via another method.

It's a bit exciting. Now to finalize the details!

Artists - hints, tips, tricks for that last hour before the show opens? I really want to hear your input on that. What little detail will we forget unless I write it down today?

Here are the 20 images that I have had printed on canvas for a planned one-night-only show in late February. All images in an edition of 1 - they will never be remade as canvases or prints.___John decided to post the 20 images. I'm sharing...

Today I am grateful for a new client, a new project that will keep me busy through the month of January.

Yay for paid work!

Sure, it's going to be a little stressful to get everything done that is on my January list - but this is a great start for my new year.

My Christmas nails are done - Zoya matte Posh, Konad white stamping polish, no top coat so as not to ruin the matte. Yes, they are off to the side, yes they do not match and yes, I am quite happy with them.

Goodmorneve and coffee greetings, Giggleplus!
Freelancers - how far in advance do you know your assignments? Just a day or so, do you get a week, a month?
Are you all ready for the holidays?
Aside from cooking Christmas eve, things are almost as ready as they will be... almost.

The Bearded Guy Who Lives At My House is about to become a professional.

In preparation for his first show, the canvases have arrived and we're looking at all of them.

The first three... up and being named. There are 20 total, this time.

Each one is 16"-ish square.
I like some of them better when hung on the diamond.

One step at a time, now we can prep the pages for the galleries.

So the Bearded Guy liked the new painting.
It now belongs to him and will be hung in his studio.

My interpretation in acrylic of his photography - round 2.

Interesting that the colors appear brighter in the painting - but only after covering with a Silk Sealer.

Take care of my nails.
That's on the To Do list for today. I've removed all the layers of polishes, beads, glitters and such and done one round of cuticle care. But these nails, oh, the sadness. So a little more care today and then I'll paint them again.

Also - something in our building is off. We got a note that the landlord will send in a crew today to check all the water lines. Evidently they've had a serious over-use of water showing up so they're looking for the culprit - or a leak.
I'm pretty sure it isn't us. We have been too sick to overuse anything except pillows and blankets.

I've done another "Debi's interpretation in acrylic of John's photography". And I'm waiting for his critique.
I'll post that after he has seen the finished piece.

More nail polish in my advent calendar!
Because I cleared the fingernails, this one got tested on a toenail. I will spare you the photo of that.  :)

There's enough paid work projects to keep me busy until New Year's Eve! Yay! And thank you, clients.

Also on today's list of things to do - clear this living room of everything that is not needed for daily living and get it ready for guests. I want a table that will hold 1 cookie jar, 1 candy dish, 1 sugar bowl with spoons, 1 creamer with spoons, and keep it empty from now until after Christmas. I want a couch that is cleared of crumbs and cat hair, fluffed cushions and lots of empty spots. I want a floor that is not covered in baby toys, tossed jackets, extra pillows and why-is-there-a-bag-with-old-clothes-in-here?
Plus my fortress. That has to go for a week or so.  Ack!

Goodmorneve and coffee greetings, Giggleplus!
Do you expect to have to scrub things down for guests, or just tidy-up a bit?___

Yesterday's Advent Calendar was another treasure hunt - this time for a polish set that included beads.  (Caviar manicure)

I did this yesterday and as you can see, there is one bead missing on there --- unknown where I lost it. I just hope I didn't eat it!
LOL

Today's list of things to handle: dishes and laundry (as always), paperwork (as always), some paid work (Yay!), and clearing the living room to start preparing for company next week. Gotta make sure there's room for everyone to sit down and be comfy in here.

I'm thrilled with my paper shredder - it means I can clear previous year books and be somewhat happy that the financials are not just floating around. I'm sort of happy with the new accounting software, though I'm not totally at ease with it yet. And mostly, I'm happy in my living space. A bit tousled at the moment, butno... more »

New tax rules, new software, new directives and me. Why did I pass on taking accounting classes?

Online, long-distance wedding planning with two brides. Where did I learn patience? And how did I get lucky and have two non-zilla brides?

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day planning and preparation. Presents and foods and clearing a table and can we really fit 10 people for dinner?

Sleep schedule messed up and laundry running behind because of not running the machinery after 10 p.m. out of consideration for my neighbors. Did I really think the housework could be finished between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.?

Paints and polishes and photography are all messing with my table. Why do I want to do everything at the same time?

Thursday stuff.

The cold and cough drag on - but then again, Advent still exists!
Even though I've previously had less-than-grand results from crackle polish, today's special Advent tiny box held a note for me to go on a treasure hunt to find this larger box!
Sugar & Spice Snakeskin Effect set. Two base colors, three crackles and a top coat plus a file. The Bearded Guy said it wasn't expensive and he knew I'd not had the best of luck, but figured to try one more time.
Photos of results another time - let me just say - it worked!

Yesterday's downtime with our internet provider sent me on a treasure hunt of a different kind. Our alternate phone service used to have a fantastic USB stick modem that I'd use if our main provider failed for whatever reason. But that USB stick is no longer valid with the computers.

Time to get a new one. Hoping that what we saw online yesterday will work out as a new backup internet.

The Glossybox Christmas Edition is a lovely red-velvety box that opens from the front with a magnet rather than their normal box-with-lid. It's gorgeous and one that I will keep!
Inside - lots of fun stuff but the one I got extra-excited over was the Uslu Airlines nail polish. It's my second bottle of this. And it's a gorgeous red.
Again, photos another time of the results.

I would like to put all my Advent treasures under the tree, but the animals would run off with the tiniest pieces.

It would be nice to stop coughing long enough to get some work done. Housework.
We are managing dishes from time to time and laundry as necessary, but I'm not thrilled with the overall status of home at the moment. Honestly, if it wasn't for my housekeeper having been here on Monday...

Goodmorneve and one more coffee, Giggleplus!

How do you handle it if your main ISP goes down? Do you go online another way or just drop it for the day?___

Tuesday, too early. Still, both of us having trouble sleeping. The coughing!

Hmpf.

We both "feel" okay, except for this nasty cough that is holding on. We managed to sleep most of Monday. I woke up long enough to remind him that the present for the housekeeper was under the tree and would he please give it to her? But I don't remember hearing her leave.

We were awake for a while to proof projects for delivery and place an estimate with a possible new client (crossed fingers!) and then a little food and then laying down again.
But the coughing is waking me up. This can't be good. One more day and then I have to call the doc. I'll give a cold a solid week, but on day 8 of misery, I ask for help. Hot lemonade, honey, showers, soaking in the tub, Vicks Vap-O-Rub, even some OTC medicine just to function... but it's not gone yet.

How am I? I'm actually okay - just overtired from the lack of good sleep.

And my two brides-to-be ... guest lists are changing, little things like the Holidays getting in the way of trying to solidify dates with some of the professionals, but nothing seriously bad. I am very grateful to be dealing with darling young ladies and not Bridezillas.
Yeah, I know - there's still time.  :)

Ah, for a lottery win. I could throw money at both couples, preset everything they want and then just sit back and watch.  LOL!

It's just before 6 a.m. on a Tuesday. I want a little more rest if I can get it, but right now, a hot cup of coffee might clear a bit of this stuffy nose.___

Feeling so much better. And that's a good thing. I'm about to go back to my paid project, but stopped in for a moment to say hi...

Doing online, long-distance wedding planning with two brides (I'm mother of the groom for the first wedding and mother of the bride for the second one) and getting my work done and painting my nails some more (yup, I'm adding to what I did already!) and trying to finalize some Christmas plans... plus there's still laundry and dishes, as usual.

Oh, one more coffee before I get down to it, please?

How's your Sunday going?

On a bright note, however, he started waving at me today for the first time. And kept at it, too. With a grin.

Two years ago, the photos were of the then-teenager and the Bearded Guy putting up the Christmas tree.
Last year, the Bearded Guy had a stroke and we chose not to try to put up any decorations.
This year, we have the Pocket Viking here - and he was promised that he could help put together the train set for the tree.

The boys got busy and the tree and the train have been set up.
Trains must be checked out and tested for actual working before the set can go around the tree, however....

And once it's done, the little guy has other things to do!
LOL

Umm...
Well, the thing is, I was looking at a recipe and it called for cold butter to be incorporated into the rest of the ingredients with a pastry cutter.
You know the type, right? A handle, 4, 5 or 6 arched blades...
And when we went to Stockholm, I stopped at several stores to look for such a thing after a week of looking here in Katrineholm.

And when it could NOT be found in a store, I ordered it from online.

It arrived today.
And in the drawer where it shall live...
resides a flipping pastry cutter!

Really? Really?  Not underneath a bunch of other stuff. Not behind a stack of other items. OUT IN FRONT in plain view and unobstructed!

Oy veh.

Yeah. Okay. So now I have two.

Screenplay month.
Yes, I opened it again. The block is still there, but I started writing through it. Okay, so what I wrote yesterday is definitely leaving in the editing process, but I opened it and wrote. And that is positive.

I need to get the main character back into the correct room. But I got him sidetracked. Yeah, I know, you have no idea what I'm talking about. That's okay. At the moment, neither do I!

Honestly it might have been easier for me to just work on the Bearded Guy's story.
But it wouldn't do the job. My job. To write this from scratch.

What's new at my house?
A 50-pack of tealights (on sale!), a tiny tripod for the Canon because the desk is too tall for even the extra length with the big tripod, a bagful of Lush bathbombs (minus one that was used this morning), and a case for the MBAir. How are these things here?

Well, it's like this.
Saturday. Way too early in the morning. The Bearded Guy and I are discussing what to do about breakfast. The hotel on the other side of the train tracks has breakfast, but we aren't really in the mood for that. However, the bakery across the street from the hotel is open at this silly hour of the morning and they have breakfast things too.

However, the bakery across the street from the hotel is open at this silly hour of the morning and they have breakfast things too.

Over breakfast, we are deciding where we want to go for lunch. Yeah, we'd already decided there wouldn't be any cooking on Saturday. Burger King? Well, the one in our town is a long walk, even from the nearest bus stop. There are several in Stockholm, two of them are in the train station. There's one in Norrköping that we know of. And we do want to go and buy a few more items for storage and for lighting. So where are we going on a Saturday? The trains are always questionable, weekends are difficult and the last train home from almost anywhere is right after dinner time, so if we miss that, we'll have to find a hotel in town - whichever town we are in.

Stockholm was the winner since a train going TO there was leaving in a few minutes. Home from breakfast long enough to pick up some carry bags and buy tickets and back across the tracks we go to catch that train.

Other shopping was done as well. But one thing I still can NOT find in Sweden stores - a pastry cutter. You know the type - a single handle, four or five arched blades. Really? Yet, I kind of remember bringing one back from the States once for a friend. That was years ago. Surely we can find one now? Well, not yesterday. Not even in the kitchen stores, not in NK, not at the hardware stores...

And Sephora was packed. I much prefer Sephora during the week. How can anyone smell a fragrance sample when 30 people are spraying testers? And one item that looked interesting - a "paint can" of 10 tiny bottles of Formula X nail polish - didn't have a price tag. And the line was long enough to frustrate me.

We came home, not having purchased but one storage box, not having found any LED lights that made me happy at all, not having eaten at Burger King (we went to a food court), not having purchased anything at my favorite stores in town.
Was it a horrible day? No. But it wasn't fabulous, either. Today, I'm still sore from all the walking. I got up early again and the bathtub and hot water called to me. Dropped a bathbomb in and got out about an hour later with less stiff joints and smelling really nice.

But we left the apartment. That was good, right? Right?

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
Nothing (of importance) got accomplished yesterday and as of now - nearly 4 in the afternoon - I'm ready to go back to bed for a while.

I have writing to do, paperwork to do, a new software program to learn for doing the accounting and nails to paint. Plus laundry and dishes.

That's my day. And it's already 11 in the morning.

Oy. One more coffee, first? Please?

Oh, good grief.
My first serious attempt at writing an original screenplay and I'm stuck. Blocked. Put it away for having the Pocket Viking here and figured to pick it up again when he went home... but that was last week.

So 50 pages are done and even partially edited... down to 44 pages. There should be more editing, too.
But first, it was a matter of getting all the pages written.

Sad face.

Aside from rearranging rooms, doing paid work and trying to clean up after ourselves, we've played a lot of Borderlands PreSequel (hey, playing Claptrap is GREAT!) and re-worked our sleep schedule.

Unfortunately, I have allowed the screenplay to take second place, third place, twenty-seventh place. Meh.

Which only reinforces my desire to get back to it!

The polish section is done.
Sort of.

Light, dryer, polishes and all the accoutrements... spent the better part of an hour sorting and clearing and making sure it was the way I wanted it in order to get this shot. And then I found more.

Yeah, I'm probably going to need even more storage for this.

Above all this? The painting stuff. That's next for photography. But not until I've located and at least attempted to store all the rest of the polish stuff. Good grief.

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
What are your storage solutions? And do they also give you workspace?

This is just half of one wall of the office - when it's all sorted and cleared properly, then maybe I'll share a photo or  two of the whole room.

And yes, that is a placemat. I use that to protect the actual table, just in case of a polish or acetone spill.

A quick mani to save nails.
When moving furniture and schtuff between rooms, I have a tendency to dive right in and generally, my nails take the brunt of it. So yesterday, before beginning the process, I did a quick run with a Deborah Lippmann silver gray and the Bearded Guy's favorite Orly red, Seche top coat, and then packed it all up and started moving. We are only halfway. The piano needs to come out - and alllllll of his stuff needs to go in - to finish the rec room and return it to Studio Status.

Then I can finish moving into the big office. Okay, it used to be a bedroom, but we rearranged when the teen came here for a while and it was the only place suitable for all three of us to work.
Now that space will be Mine - and right now, I can barely get to my work computer, thanks to all my schtuff sitting on and around the desk.

The office and rec room are being re-arranged. We went out and bought more storage pieces today, and with these, we might be able to get a grip on some of the things that we will be keeping and moving with us to Germany (future) along with the ability to confine some stuff in the meantime, and still have several tools available for use between now and then.

So - the big office will be .... Mine, all mine!
And the little office/guest room will be the Bearded Guy's space. He'll share with guests for now. And the Pocket Viking.

Because I am getting the larger space, I'll be able to set up (and leave up, maybe?) my tripod, camera and light box. I should have enough room to do my nails and when needed, some sewing. And - I might actually have space for the easel and paintings. Right along with my piano.

And in the other half of the room is the actual workspace office. The place where I do most of my paid work and all the bookkeeping and taxes and extra things that go along with the paid work.

It's possible - I said possible - that the couch fortress will become actual seating space.
It could happen.

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
We did all this and several files of paid work all before 5 p.m.! How much can you get done once you decide it's time to do it?___

Greetings, Giggleplus!

Once again, the Pocket Viking is next to me. After we turned in the literary piece and verified that the video pieces will be fixed for Monday, we got our visitor.

We've not really done much else. Play with him, make food, try to play a little more, read while he naps. It's tiring at my age.  LOL But fun.

And today, my Mom got to hear me speaking Swedish to the little guy. On the phone with her regarding other things going on, the Bearded Guy and the Pocket Viking came back from their shopping and since I was on the phone, that was interesting!
So a little back and forth with him, with Mom, with him saying hello to Debi's Mommy...

But all this does mean I have not even opened my Screenplay for the writing I'm supposed to be doing.

The hard part will be getting back to it. Once it's been closed and "forgotten", a restart on the writing process will take more than just reopening the file.

Sad face.

Ah well.
The little guy is loads of fun, the conversations are good and after he goes home tomorrow, perhaps a glass of wine, a bubble bath and then I'll be ready to start all over again come Monday!

Goodmorneve - how's your weekend going?___

Hello, work.
I have proofing on the last third of the literary translation. I have four more videos - but we are waiting on the client.

So here I sit, with nothing to do.

Yeah, okay, so that wasn't quite correct. I have plenty I could be doing. I'm just not into doing anything today.

I would prefer it if someone else would do my nails today. I'll even have it be just a base coat, so I can decorate it all later.
But could said someone else be so kind as to come over to do this, so I don't have to get dressed and leave the house please?

It's all okay, I'm fine .. just in a "I don't wanna!" mood.
:)

Goodmorneve, Giggleplus!
The Bearded Guy has made sure my mug is as close to "bottomless" as we can manage around here.
How do you handle your "I don't wanna!" days?

When we have the Pocket Viking over, the boys play well together.
And sometimes, a GREAT shot can be had.

The Bearded Guy Who Lives At My House and our favorite little guy.
With thanks to Lovely Mommy for permission to post a photo of her child.
