Jesse Wojdylo963,638Over the last few months I have noticed many people using Twitter to supplement Google+ or the other way around. I think there are some very effective strategies that can be used. This week we will get some of those strategies out on the table. All the information you need on Google Plus Chat is available here: http://wojdylosocialmedia.com/google-plus-chat-twitter-chat/ In December of last year I really jumped on Twitter in a big way as I love the real time updates and the sports engagement. This has yet to come to Google+ so I spend my weekends chatting it up with college football and college basketball folks. While doing that I notice plenty of other awesome social media users that know and love the Google+ platform. This led me to these discussion questions: 1. How long have you been active on Twitter? 2. Do you use Twitter for pleasure or business? Or pain? 3. Do you auto post to Twitter? Do you post Google+ Posts? 4. How do you use Twitter to supplement Google+? 5. Mention some active Twitter users that may enjoy Google+ 6. Do you want a Google Plus Chat on Christmas Eve? Please join us for #googlepluschat  on Twitter every Tuesday at 2:00 pm est. We will discuss if there will be a Christmas Eve event or not. Either way, join us this week!Google Plus Chat Twitter Chat2013-12-17 20:00:0053

20 years on, we remember the victims of the Port Arthur massacre; and 20 years of not another single mass shooting since, courtesy of strict gun controls

Sunday 28 April 1996, the historic site of the Port Arthur penal colony in south-eastern Tasmania attracted hundreds of visitors. At lunchtime the Broad Arrow Cafe was full. 28 year old Martin Bryant from Hobart entered the cafe, ordered and ate a big lunch, then pulled a semi-automatic rifle out of his bag and started shooting indiscriminately at tourists and staff.

Within 15 seconds, 17 shots had been fired, 12 were dead and 10 injured. By the time Bryant had finished his rampage, he had killed 35 people using a range of semi-automatic weapons in and around Port Arthur.

The newly-elected Howard government sat for the first time the following week. By May 10, all state and territory ministers had agreed to heavily restrict the ownership and use of self-loading rifles, self-loading and pump-action shotguns. A gun buy-back scheme was initiated, funded by a temporary increase in the Medicare levy. Some 643,000 firearms were handed in at a cost of $350 million___

Last post for today [and probably for a while].

Got asked in a message "how am I going", and they got the usual response "all good thanks :)".

Well, it isn't.

My life at present.

Monday - Thursday
8.30am to 5pm at work
5pm to 8.30am the next day - at home looking after dad.

Friday - Monday
5pm Friday right through to 8.30am Monday - at home looking after dad.

No social life, no private life, nothing but work and home.

Am getting really tired of not being able to spend time visiting people, socialising, etc.

To top it all off, my brother who is supposed to be caring for my dad and giving me some time off, is too busy disappearing from about 4.50pm Monday to Thursdays and not getting back until 9pmish.

Fridays, he leaves at 4.30pm and works all night, all Saturday and all Sunday. Supposedly he "needs the money", yet he is on a fucking carers' pension and has no rent or bills to pay [except the general living expenses].

In addition to that, I have a boss who thinks everything is a fucking joke. He doesn't comprehend or want to comprehend what people are going through, and why some times people [i.e., me] are on a short tether with no patience! [which is another long story for another day].

So, in answer to the question - no, I am not fine. I am literally exhausted and at my tether's end! I need a break, I need a life, and I need some support.

So, will be offline for a few days.

Cheers.___

This year marks 101 years since the landing of our troops at Gallipoli and 75 years since the Battle of Crete.

For the past 38 years we have honoured all those who fought for Australia and Greece in the Two World Wars and in other Conflicts around the world by conducting the Trisagion Service for Anzac Day.

This year's ANZAC commemoration will be especially honoured by the participation of the Evzones from the Greek Presidential Guard in Athens.

A special service was conducted in Sydney today to commemorate not only the Anzacs but also the friendship through war and peace between these two countries.

Men just can't win :/

A NEW study suggests losing your spouse can be good for your health - but only if you are a woman.

Widows were found to suffer less stress after their husbands die, but the opposite was true for men who are thought to become over-reliant on their partners.

Serbian voters were set to grant pro-western Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic four more years in power on Sunday, but he will probably have to contend with a resurgent ultra-nationalist opposition demanding closer ties with Russia.

Aiming to push ahead with a bid for European Union membership, Vucic called the parliamentary ballot just two years after he became prime minister following a landslide election win for his conservative Progressive Party

Last year's marathon winner, Palestinian Olympian Nader al-Masri, was not at the starting line but instead sat in his battered but resolute house in Beit Hanoun, at the northern edge of the Gaza Strip.

Masri - a sinewy man with the resigned but determined expression so common in distance runners -  heard shortly before the race that he had not been granted permission by Israeli authorities to leave Gaza  to compete. The irony is that were it not for the two checkpoints, four government agencies, reams of paperwork and layers of decision-making in between, he could probably run the 100 kilometres to Bethlehem himself

In the first two years of the race - 2013 and 2014 - Masri was also denied entry by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, or COGAT, the Israeli government agency that administers the West Bank. In those years they said thathe failed to me... more »

If the Eurocrats don’t take on Google, no one will be able to stop it

Once upon a time, we relied on the state to do this on our behalf – to cut monopolies down to size, to keep corporate power in check. The strange thing about the digital world is that states now seem unequal to this task. At the moment, the EC is the only game in town. Which makes one wonder if the Brexit enthusiasts have thought of that.

Wonders in the Antarctic Sky

In 43 hours across five science flights in late November 2013, NASA's P-3 research aircraft collected more than 20,000 kilometers (12,000 miles) worth of science data. Instruments gathered information about the thickness of the ice over subglacial lakes, mountains, coasts, and frozen seas. The flights over Antarctica were part of Operation IceBridge, a multi-year mission to monitor conditions in Antarctica and the Arctic until a new ice-monitoring satellite, ICESat-2, launches in 2016.
Laser altimeter and radar data are the primary products of the mission, but IceBridge project scientist Michael Studinger almost always has his digital camera ready as well. Lenticular clouds are a type of wave cloud. They usually form when a layer of air near the surface encounters a topographic barrier, gets pushed upward, and flows over it as a series of atmospheric gravity waves. Lenticular clouds form at the crest of the waves, where the air is coolest and water vapor is most likely to condense into cloud droplets. The bulging sea ice in the foreground is a pressure ridge, which formed when separate ice floes collided and piled up on each other.

IceBridge Survey Flight Over Saunders Island and Wolstenholme Fjord

This image of Saunders Island and Wolstenholme Fjord with Kap Atholl in the background was taken during an Operation IceBridge survey flight in April, 2013. Sea ice coverage in the fjord ranges from thicker, white ice seen in the background, to thinner grease ice and leads showing open ocean water in the foreground.

In March 2013, NASA's Operation IceBridge scientists began another season of research activity over Arctic ice sheets and sea ice. IceBridge, a six-year NASA mission, is the largest airborne survey of Earth's polar ice ever flown. It will yield an unprecedented three-dimensional view of Arctic and Antarctic ice sheets, ice shelves and sea ice. These flights will provide a yearly, multi-instrument look at the behavior of the rapidly changing features of the Greenland and Antarctic ice.

Fark!!

The move will likely appeal to two types of people: those concerned about data inception on public networks and those wanting to stream content online without being geographically restricted. According to tests, the Opera browser successfully circumvented Netflix protections, giving one user access to reams of US-based content that was previously out of reach. However, other sources report that Netflix – in line with recent moves to clamp down on VPN access – is already moving to put an end to this.

This is where some (most?) trade deals are wrong. Totally agree with Pascal on this and this is not just China at issue.

Switzerland seems to slowly become a Chinese colony. Partly due to the "free trade treaty" which Switzerland signed with China, and in which China has nearly all rights to buy whatever property in Switzerland, but Swiss still need a majority owner from China to acquire parts of companies there. And everybody seems to accept this as normal.
The water power plants are set to be sold to a Chinese consortium. After cement companies, chemical, infrastructure, ...
I do not have anything against investors investing, but it should be a fair game, and the full market access to China should be the condition.

Instead of closely looking there, parts of Switzerland continue to blame foreigners and the European Union for their economical problems.
A country which braces and bows towards China and accepts nearly one-way-treaties but wants to grow the distance to its cultural center: Europe.

It would have been easy to do a reciprocal treaty like nearly everyone does it with visas: If I can only acquire 49% of a company in your country, then you will not get more than 49% in my country either. But noone seems to want to make treaties with China without that submissive "please give us your money"-attitude.___This is where some (most?) trade deals are wrong.
