Welcome to the world of the strange and unusual in this posting for #buggyfriday.  This guy was lumbering around Corkscrew Sanctuary, probably looking for a bear or panther for a light lunch =P  Thanks to +Sherry McBriar +Ray Bilcliff +Dorothy Pugh for curating.

This little bugger (ha ha..uh sorry, bad pun) was walking along the boardwalk at Corkscrew Sanctuary in Naples, FL.  He was so colorful I had to take a picture and put it out for #BuggyFriday curated by +Ray Bilcliff +Sherry McBriar and +Dorothy Pugh

This raccoon was up early (around dusk) and looking to get started on his nightly foraging.  It was checking out a pond at Nine Springs Conservancy in Madison, WI.  +Sherry McBriar and myself were just heading out when we came across this furry forager.  #FurryFriday hosted by +Ross Campbell

It's hopper season in Naples, FL so +Ray Bilcliff , +Sherry McBriar and I went out to find the plentiful bounty.  We succeeded in finding many of the large orange and yellow hoppers which Ray and Sherry have put out some great pictures of, so I decided to put out a picture of the "odd ball" we found for #BuggyFriday

I caught this guy after fishing up his lunch.  He was hanging out on Bodega Bay in California.  I was hoping he would share, but no such luck.  I thought this would be a good fit for #WaterBirdWednesday sponsored by +Sherry McBriar +Margaret Tompkins and +Ray Bilcliff

Here' a shot for #BuggyFriday hosted by +Ray Bilcliff and +Sherry McBriar. This guy was flying around Zion National Park. I was following Him around, just waiting for him to land. When he finally did, he didn't stay long, but I was able to snap a couple shots before he flew off.

For #WildlifeWednesday hosted by +Mike Spinak I would like you to "say hello to my little friend". It was hanging out in Zion National Park and really liked "hamming it up" for the visitors and didn't mind us taking pictures of him. Me and my wife, +Sherry McBriar had one of the rangers come by and ask if we were ok, because we were spending so much time laying on the ground.

Here's an addition for #WadingBirdWednesday hosted by +Ray Bilcliff and +Sherry McBriar. This Black Crowned Night Heron was having it's morning sun bath at Eagle Lakes Park in Naples, FL. Although, it never did dip it's feet in the water. It must be one of those "75 degrees is too cold to go in the water" birds.

I have done work for Audubon Magazine and the past and can proudly say that my images have been used for an article written by Ted Williams. Mr. Williams is one of the best "Nature" journalists around, in my opinion.

This piece is a MUST read by EVERY wildlife photographer. This is EXACTLY the reason why I refuse to photograph captive animals at game farms.

If you do I strongly urge you to reconsider!

Songbird Saturday

Birds of Prey Sunday

Here are a couple juvenile Osprey that are just learning to fly. These guys were in Grand Tetons National Park. The one with it's wings out would fly about the nest about 10 feet, do a little gliding and come back down to the nest. It was a very interesting and enjoyable behavior to watch. #birdsofpreysunday hosted by +Jeffrey Van Daele

Wildlife Wednesday

This Cooper's Hawk was scouting out the area in Edna Taylor Conservancy. My wife (+Sherry McBriar) and I stumbled across him along one of the paths. It didn't seem to mind us at first, but I think he grew tired of all the shutter clicking and "humans acting silly" and flew off. He gave us some nice poses, though. We thank it for it's patience and tolerance with us. #WildlifeWednesday maintained by +Mike Spinak

What the Duck Monday

Just a family outing at Edna Taylor Conservancy. Once mom got comfortable with us being there, she let the ducklings venture away from her. It was fun to watch them race each other for bugs that were on the lily pads. They were so curious. #WhatTheDuck sponsored by +Phil Armishaw

Songbird Saturday

Wildlife Wednesday

Proud papa Sandhill was acting as the lookout while momma and baby were taking a bath. This family comes back to Tiedman Pond in Middleton, WI almost every year and have become rather tolerant of humans. While walking around the pond, we (my wife +Sherry McBriar and I) turned a corner in the path and there was the Sandhill family, walking right at us. They didn't skip a beat and walked right past us (within 3 feet) on their way to the pond. I have to say, the is the first time I have ever seen Sandhill Cranes walk on asphalt. They went about their business while we were snapping shots. Only looking up occasionally, to make sure we were just taking pictures. #WildlifeWednesday curated by +Mike Spinak

History Thursday

This is a lighthouse on Rock Island, WI. The Island was formerly a fort and then converted into a State Park. Here is a quote from the Wisconsin DNR website about the lighthouse..."Ship owners petitioned the U.S. Congress, and the government set aside land for a light on Rock Island. The Pottawatomie light was the first of many lighthouses erected at key points along Wisconsin's Great Lakes shorelines. The 1836 structure was demolished in the late 1850s and the existing lighthouse was first lit in 1858. The lamp produced a steady white light visible for 14 nautical miles. The lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979." #HistoryThursday

This is a waterfall in the Great Smokey Mountains. It's a 5 second exposure and thank goodness it was a little cloudy. I think the hardest part was getting a stable base for the tripod.
