If you have Google Voice on your phone, Glass will default to using that for texting instead of your carrier SMS. I haven't found a way to change that yet.

Happy Easter

I hope that everyone will be enjoying today with family and friends. Some may make it to an Easter service while some may take the time to sleep in but I hope that everyone will realize what today really means.

I don't usually cheer for Western Kentucky, seeing how they are rivals to my alma mater, but when they are facing Kansas as a 16 seed in the NCAA tourney I can make an exception. They have led at the half and are only down 4 with a little under 8 minutes to go. You can catch the rest of the game on TNT.

Woe is me.

It has been a bad week. The last seven days have held a lot of surprises and not really any good ones.

It started with my problems of registering and actually receiving my spot for Google I/O. Then I find out that Google planned to give Reader the ax. Now I look down and I have a nice new crack to add on my Galaxy S3 right across the front of the screen.

It sucks but I don't plan to let it get me down. I'll just have to take the money I saved from Google not allowing me to purchase my ticket and put it towards a new phone. I guess things happen for a reason...

This sucks!

I've been dreaming of going to Google I/O for a few years now. I've never been close to having enough money to ever make the trip but always knew that someday it would happen. I thought that day was going to be this year but now I don't think so. Let me tell you all about my experience of attempting to make this dream, and another separate dream, come true.

On Tuesday evening, I decided that I shouldn't go to bed. After all I didn't have work or class on Wednesday so why not? It would be better than taking the chance and oversleeping I/O registration.

I was anxious by 10pm. It was still 12 hours away until registration but I was already ready to give Google my money. I just want to go to I/O is all I could think. Does anyone know when we'll be able to get our hands on the Samsung HomeSync? It seems pretty intriguing to me!

I kind of hope that it isn't until after Google I/O. I only say that because this is what the Nexus Q should have been and my hopes is that Google will bring to the market something even better. Regardless, I can't see Google wanting it to be a 1TB storage drive like Samsung has billed the HomeSync with Google Drive as a competitor.

My Google #IO13 Experience

My morning has seemed eerily familiar to this old milk commercial from the 1990s. After finding a spot for two separate tickets, my Google Wallet payment timed out. It's like having a room full of cookies but no milk...this sucks!

Luckily, my girlfriend did get a ticket purchase to go through and she made it to the confirmation page. I guess I can live vicariously through her come May. I think it'll be my only options.

I think this goes to show how out of touch ABC is with most of the American population. If Hasselbeck's conservatism is a problem then I'm afraid I'll never make it in show business, which is fine by me.

The real question is who actually watches The View in the first place?

Only a couple days after Rand Paul and Co. filibustered Obama's nomination for CIA director, John Brennan has been sworn into office. The interesting part is that he took the oath on a Constitution that was written before the ratification of the Bill of Rights.

Days before Brennan's oath, Rand Paul had held the confirmation up on on the need for the White House to issue a statement defining the constitutionality of using drone strikes on non-eminent American targets at home.

I'm experiencing some serious nerd joy right now. I bought a computer a couple weeks ago just so I could teach myself how ROMs are built and to see if I could pull it off myself. With the help of some wonderful write-ups by members of the xda-developers community I was able to build a functional CM10.1 build for my Transformer Prime just now.

Even though what I did was fairly simple I'm still stoked. Now its on to see if I can figure out how to build Carbon ROM for the Prime. Anyone able to point me to some good reading?

I wonder what it would take to get Glenn Beck to come on WWE Raw tomorrow. I don't see it having a snowball's chance but it would be pretty cool to see Glenn lay the smack down!

While I love the characters of Zeb and Jack I do wonder why the WWE would have two characters pushed as "heels" that reflect such a large portion of their viewing audience. You would think they would put them over as the babyface. Either way they are the ones I cheer for even if they are being very snide.

How It Feels [through Glass]

By now I'm sure that some of you have already seen this new video of Google Glass' new UI a lot but for those of you that haven't then prepare to be amazed!

I was watching and it just hit me how useful glass can really become. For example, when my mom is on her laptop and something isn't working she will be able to now share her view and let me see it. While that may seem obvious, it hadn't hit me how effective it will actually be in allowing me to help her with her computer problems. When I start thinking in those terms the usefulness of Glass becomes endless.

My New PC Came Today!

At the end of last week I decided that would I need a better computer for some projects I wanted to start. I jumped on eBay and found a decent deal on a used computer so I pulled the trigger. Surprisingly it came in the mail yesterday far sooner than I expected. After running a new Ethernet cord to my desk I installed Ubuntu and have everything set up how I like.

Now for my first project; building AOKP for my Transformer Prime. I've never attempted to build a ROM before so I'm going to be very much a newb but I think I can pull it off. If anyone has any suggestions or good links they can share I'd be grateful!

I wish you could arrange the "importance" of card types in Google Now.

Birthdays are near the bottom of my relevant information but because they are listed at the top they are what shows on the new widget. No offense to Ms. Hilton but I don't see me wishing her a Happy Birthday, I honestly don't even know when I started to follow her, so why is she on top? She isn't relevant information to me so let's send her on her way and let me adjust what's important.

Wireless charging for the Samsung Galaxy S3

I just bought all the parts I need to give my Galaxy S3 wireless charging. The idea came from another xda-developers user who posted his steps online. I only paid $40 and I even bought two extra charging stands. Now I can have two at home and one at work.

I'm hoping everything will be in by the start of next week. I'll post some pictures of my project after I get everything finished. It looks extremely simple so I don't expect it to take any more than 30 minutes.

PS3 Version of Black Ops 2 Nuketown Zombies

Starting tomorrow PlayStation owners of Black Ops will be able to finally download the zombies Nuketown. I bought the season pass just for this the other day and can't wait for it to go live. Anyone else already buy the season pass or plan to buy the expansion pack for zombies?

Monopoly to lose a classic piece

Hasbro, the company who makes Monopoly, has announced plans to upgrade the game, which will include replacing one of the game's iconic tokens with a new piece.

They are leaving the decision to which piece will be removed and added to the fans. You can vote on the Monopoly Facebook page.

Recently I decided to stop using +Instagram  in favor of +Snapseed, partly because the latter shares easily to Google+. But I have over 600 photos on Instagram that I wish I had here. 

Enter Instagrab, a simple to use free web app that with a few clicks transfers all of your Instagram photos into an album in your G+/Picassa. You just click each of the blue buttons shown in the photo below, which ask you to give limited access to your two accounts.
