Everybody Has A Talent

I had to share this, what a great talent this man has, it just goes to show behind every homeless person is a real person like you and I, in some cases like this guy more musical talent than the majority of people out there, next time when you are walking past a homeless person open your eyes to what they really may be or had been before life dealt them a poor blow.

I have a suggestion to improve the algorithm used to determine what makes it to the "What's Hot" stream: Any post that is +1'd by more than 50 teenage girls should be excluded from that stream. That's all.

The Good The Bad And The Ugly Of Online Metadata

Who strips out what, the results may surprise you !!

As you may know the UK has passed a law that allows orphaned works of photos to be used freely for any use if no creator of the works cannot be found, what that basically means is anyone can sell use your work with no comeback from the law, be it a company that automatedly sucks up work, a business using your work or an individual using your work.

A photo normally contains information about lots of things, one being who created the work, as you can see below a lot of services strip this information out, your work will then be onto the first step of being an orphaned piece of work, next step it is shared by a someone on that site, that normally means it it is resized (this makes it harder for Google image search to find), your work is then shared elsewhere......... more »

So on my little venture along the Norfolk coast last week I stopped of at a pebble filled beach near 'Wells Next The Sea' (someone should have a word about their grammar when naming a town!!) anyhow I managed to get a few nice shots, this being one of them on my short stop here.

Boot Sale 50% Off

So yesterday I went on a little urbanx adventure, I did a little research online and found out not so far away from me in Sleaford was the Old Bass Malting's, so I set the satnav and off I went.
Arriving a the site you drive through some huge gates that lead you past what must of been housing for the high up workers of the Old Bass Malting's in its day, you are then taken back by the scale of this place it must cover quite a few acres. 
So jumping out you find this place is well secured with high solid metal fencing as far as the eye can see, but where there is a will there is a way !! ;)
I won't go into detail how I got in as that is not the right thing to do here, and no I did not force entry or break anything to get past the fencing, but what I will say is don't bother climbing a fence and nearly killing yourself and your camera like Id... more »

So I went on a coastal trek at the weekend around the Norfolk coast I started off at Hunstanton and ended up in Great Yarmouth with a fish and chip supper, I hadn't been there since I was a child, from what I remember it has changed to the point I didn't think it was the same place, it was very clean and very much looking more like a mini Vegas than a UK seaside town, so here in homage to +Thomas Hawk's love of anything neon and lit signage I thought I would share this today.

Lightroom 5 Beta Videos By Adobe

Breaking news, I just found that Adobe have uploaded some walkthroughs outlining the new features of the Lightroom 5 Beta that was announced today.

So far we have the following Video walkthroughs provided by Adobe :

3. Lightroom 5 : Advanced Healing Brush

So far I'm loving the new and upcoming features, seem I will be spending more time out of Photoshop with this new release.

Just spent a week road-trippin in the American South - mostly in Georgia and North Carolina. Before I arrived I'd Googled locations and was hoping to  get a cool photo of a swamp. I never quite did find what I imagined in my head, but I found this dried up and drained swamp on my last day in Augusta, GA. I woke up with a few hours before my flight and the sky looked intense. The clouds were ominous and strange and I thought to myself, "Dang, no photos today." Normally I look for happy blue skies and I won't even shoot in these conditions, but it turns out the muted and somber tones were perfect for this location.

Through Brothers Eyes

This is an old shot that I thought I would have a little play with while testing out and using my new Wacom Intuos 5, I just love this new tool for editing it speeds up editing so much. If you can  afford it get one you won't be sorry...

This shot was taken with a mirror and a flash fired down the inside of the glass.

Sunday's Hair/Bridal Shoot

So Sunday arrived and as my previous post explained I had a mad day ahead of me, five models to shoot in six hours in different locations throughout the location which was and old 16th century hall with displays everywhere, no clear white/light walls I could use there seemed to be bits placed everywhere, hair sylists/dresses/makeup artist/arms/legs we're everywhere !!
I finally got shooting at midday leaving me just four hours to get through them all, including group shots, and bride and groom !! 400 shots later I had finished !

Well this may seem like a moan but it isn't, I loved every moment it, the pressure was heavy but I learn't something about myself that day, my biggest fear was fear itself, I loved stepping outside of my comfort zone, and will be doing it more often from now on !!

The Path From Dark To Light

Blickling Hall, Norfolk
The estate covers 4,777 acres and includes 55 acres of formal garden, 950 acres of woodland and parkland and 3,500 acres of farmland.

It extends across the parish and into parts of Aylsham, Ingworth, Itteringham and Oulton.

A conversion I did today, I think the black and white works so much better, I did a fair bit of editing from the original, parts of the arch very uneven so I smoothed those out, extended the shadow on floor so it appears rounded from the shape of the arch, created a square crop to introduce some negative space, I tried to make the viewer feel as they were really in a dark space looking out into a bright vista.

This is the B&W Photographers communities 'Crème de la crème' circle, the definitive black and white circle, a bold claim I hear you cry, this is why we believe it to be the definitive black and white photography circle.

Every person within this circle has proven their worth, not by one persons judgement alone or by a series of names dumped to a single post at the request of the poster(often created for their own personal gains) but by other B&W Photographers community members, members photos may only be entered into the 'Crème de la crème' category within the community when their photo reaches a certain number of +1's, this currently stands at twenty +1's that are needed over a three day period to enter this category.

I've bitten the bullet........

So I've finally ordered a 5D mark III with grip, goodbye to my trusty 550d it has served me well, onto new horizons and the pressure is now on to better my shots I guess.......

I made it into the +one magazine !!!!

The Path From Dark To Light

I was very tempted to do a B&W version of this shot and post it, I may at some point you never know  !!! 

Blickling Hall, Norfolk
The estate covers 4,777 acres and includes 55 acres of formal garden, 950 acres of woodland and parkland and 3,500 acres of farmland.

It extends across the parish and into parts of Aylsham, Ingworth, Itteringham and Oulton.

Sir Henry Hobart bought the estate in 1616, and building started in 1619.

I Now Believe...

I had the pleasure of staying in an amazing hotel in Talland Bay, Cornwall the garden was full an eclectic mix things this being one of them, it was a lovely clear night looking over the bay with a full moon, perfect for capturing mystical fairies..
