Vote for Clinton on November 8th

A week from today, the nation will vote and I implore all of my friends and family to vote for Hillary Clinton. Here are many reasons why...

On women...
Hillary Clinton supports the equal treatment of women by advocating for equitable pay, women's health (especially in her support of Planned Parenthood), and a woman's right to choose. She has fought for maternity leave, childcare and more.

Donald Trump made up "9 Month Abortions" in the last debate, calling them "Late Term Abortions." They aren't and don't exist. He's advocated sexual assault against women, bragging about how he grabs women by the pussy. He, as a presidential nominee, tweeted that the nation should look out for a sex tape. He called a beauty pageant winner "Miss Piggy" and chastised her for her weight. He... more »

Beautiful photos for your computer and phone

From striking skylines to captivating vistas, talented photographers share beautiful, eye catching work on Google+ every day. To bring these photos to a wider audience, we’ve long showcased a selection of them on TVs and monitors around the world via Google Fiber and millions of Chromecast devices.

Now, we’re pleased to be able to make these beautiful photos by our members even more accessible by bringing them to your computers and phones. The photos are attributed to their photographers so it’s easy to find and follow the ones you like on Google+.

The Only 10-Person Wide Coaster

Griffon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg was the very first floorless dive coaster and is still the only ride that seats riders 10 across. Dive coasters are known for a vertical drop and a wide, but short, train. Other dive coasters are either six or eight people wide and all dive coasters are made by B&M. However, B&M isn't the only company to make coasters with a vertical (or beyond vertical) drop. Most coasters that looked vertical before Griffon were actually just at a very steep angle and not exactly 90 degrees. To do a vertical drop, B&M had to manufacture a special suspension system for the wheels to keep them on the track for a smooth ride.

Most coasters that looked vertical before Griffon were actually just at a very steep angle and not exactly 90 degrees. To do a vertical drop, B&M had to manufacture a special suspension system for the wheels to keep them on the track for a smooth ride.

Dive coasters are a very specific type of coaster that hold the riders at the top of the drop to increase suspense before dropping into one large element - which is almost always an immelman or a dive loop - followed by a brake section, almost vertical drop, another element, and a turn around. A few dive coasters have splashdown effects - Griffon included - where the bottom of the train skims the water and sprays it into the air to slow the train down. But mostly it just looks cool :P

As you can see on Griffon, the track is extremely wide to support the 10 person across trains. It was the second dive coaster ever constructed with the first being SheiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa. It's slightly shorter, eight people across, and only has one inversion, but also has a splashdown effect and, unlike Griffon, a tunnel. Shortly after Griffon was built, SheiKra received floorless trains as well which is now the standard on most dive coasters.___

New Notifications Experience on Android
We're turning on an improved Google+ notifications experience on Android (with version 9.1.0). This new system will deliver Google+ notifications more reliably and includes some new features as well.

For starters, you can not only mark all notifications as read but filter all your notifications by All, Unread, and Other Updates as well. (These filters are already available on the Google+ Web and iOS apps.)

With this update we'll also hide application menus when you scroll through notifications to give you a full screen view of what's happening. Just scroll back up to reveal the menus again and/or tap the Notifications tab to quickly jump to the top of your notifications list.

As always, please send us your ideas/issues using our Send Feedback menu item as that's the best way to ensure we'll see them. Thanks~___Notifications just got better on Android!

Skim the Water with Manta

This B&M flying coaster - yes, like Superman - is one of the most photographed coasters in North America and you can see why. Built in 2009, this was one of the first flying coasters in the world and is located at Seaworld: Orlando. I've ridden it a number of times and it's a forceful, elegant ride. It's iconic splashdown helped cement Manta as a premier attraction in the area.

Length: 3,359 ft
Height: 140 ft
Drop: 113 ft

Speed: 56 mph

Beyonce's 'Run the World (Girls)' Live

When I saw this live performance back in 2011, I was totally floored with the amount of production involved here. This was right at the cusp of video becoming an inseparable part of live music. This remains one of my all time favorite award show moments even in 2016. It doesn't look like it's aged at all. Some production is timeless.

Microsoft's Surface Studio

This $3,000+ all-in-one PC takes a strong jab at Apple's stranglehold on the 'Creative' market. With the world's thinnest computer screen, the Surface Studio has a special hinge (inspired by lamps, by the way) that allows the touchscreen to lie nearly flat for drawing, drafting, and playing.

In my spare time, I write. When I was nearing the end of college, I would spend hours and hours into the night writing here on Google+ instead of studying. It... worked out. Flash forward a year or so and my writing brought me to San Francisco as a Community Manager. Flash forward a couple more years and I'm getting paid as a freelance writer in addition to my full time gig (which, ironically, is here on Google+).

Not everything I write is perfect. There's probably a typo in the article I wrote below. But I've never been too worried being a perfectionist. If you find something you enjoy, do it - and do it causally. When you're natural and comfortable, you're confident. Moreover, don't go into a passion expecting to be paid for it right away. I still write a bit in my free time, but not nearly as much as I used to - but that doesn't mean I enjoy it any less. Do what you love and do it unapologetically. Find your voice and people will hear it.

Drag to drop comes to new Google+!

I have to admit, not having drag to drop on the new Google+ was driving me wild. There were so many long posts I've lost because of muscle memory dragging a photo into my G+ window. No more! Thrilled that +John Nack has brought me so much joy!

PS. This is still rolling out. Don't freak out if you don't see it yet!

Create Google+ posts via drag & drop

[Update: The feature may not yet be available for all users. Please stay tuned & thanks for your patience!]

I'm delighted to say that by very popular demand, Google+ has added several new ways to start posts & add photos:

● Drag photo(s) into any stream to which you can post in order to start a new post with the photos attached
● Drag photo(s) into a post box to attach them
● Drag photo(s) into the image picker (inside of a post box) to attach them
● Drag a photo (singular) onto a comment to attach it to the comment

Give it a try & please let us know what you think.

Thanks,
J.

PS—I started this message by dragging in the attached animation. #WeMustGoDeeper!___Drag to drop comes to new Google+!

I wasn't close to my grandmother, personally. We didn't have many deep conversations. I once asked her if there was anything she wanted to know and she replied, "Oh, now I know you know more than I ever will." Stories were shared, but never stances or advice.

Last night, she passed. I got the call a couple days ago that she wasn't doing well, and I was immediately overcome - but I couldn't figure out why. All I knew was that I had to come home to see her. I arrived into Norfolk at 8pm and she passed a few hours later. I said goodbye to her. Before I left, I was warmed to watch her children tell stories to her. We laughed, spoke to her, joked, reminisced - and that's when I realized what I would miss most about meemaw: tradition.

My grandmother was a beacon of stability for my family. She came from a big family and had a big family. She knew how to eat and she knew how to cook. She gave too much, but would say it wasn't enough. She received hardly anything, and insisted it was too much. She worked. I mean. She ~really~ worked. She trusted us. When my dad wouldn't give me a whole cookie, she scolded him and made sure I got it. She offered her home to us every Christmas. She provided for me in a way that wasn't immediately tangible (delicious meals excluded). I'm going to miss that - but I know my family will keep her traditions and values with us and, when we're gone, we'll make sure they're carried on.

Love you, grandma.___

He... more »

He doesn't support Planned Parenthood and said that women who get abortions need to be punished. He has insinuated that his Supreme Court would overturn Roe v Wade.

On taxes and the economy...
Clinton wants to increase the tax rate on the nation's top earners so that they pay their fair share. She would keep taxes where they are for the average American and wants to tax corporations more and close loopholes. Her vision for America is a global one where the USA moves away from unsafe, unclean, and undesirable labor markets and invests in a cleaner, technologically advanced future. She originally supported TPP when she was helping craft it, but no longer supports it claiming it didn't live up to its promise. The vast majority of independent tax analysts and economists believe that Clinton's plan would help the economy at least slightly if implemented minimally and moderately if most of it can pass even though it adds $200B to the debt. Her plan is extensive and detailed. She has released her tax returns and paid federal income tax.

Trump's tax plan increases taxes for the majority of Americans, especially those in the middle class, while cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthiest of Americans. He is against the Estate Tax which impacts only the richest of the rich. His plan is not detailed, vague, and relies on mythical job growth numbers to be successful through trickle down economics which has been repeatedly debunked. Very, ~very~ few independent analysts believe his tax plan would help the economy and would add trillions (up to about $5T) to the national debt. He sets an enormously poor example by not releasing his tax returns and not paying federal income tax.

On experience, charity, and global impact...
Clinton served as a lawyer, First Lady, Senator to NY, and Secretary of State. She has one the most progressive voting records in the Senate, voting with Bernie Sanders nearly 100% of the time and has a perfect voting record on women according to the HRC. She is deeply knowledgeable of our political system, foreign affairs, and has the most public service experience of any presidential candidate in history. Her charity has a near perfect rating from several independent nonprofit evaluaters and has helped tens of millions of people with HIV across the globe. She will turn down this organization once she becomes president to avoid conflict of interest.

Donald has carried his father's legacy into six bouts of bankruptcy after receiving millions in loans from him. He has dedicated his life not to public service, but to the accumulation of personal wealth. His busines practices are in stark contrast to his "official" stances on issues (ie. using Chinese steel, making his campaign memorabilia in China, not paying contractors, etc) and he's devoted to being a reality television star. His charity has been been ordered to stop collections donations by the NY State Attorney which called him a fraud and has repeatedly not paid out donations, paid Donald's personal legal fees, and even purchased assets for Trump's personal enjoyment.

On being a diplomat...
Clinton is a skilled negotiator who doesn't crack under pressure. She's been trained as a diplomat for decades, most recently in American's top diplomatic position next to president, Secretary of State. She has proven herself to be respectful, measured, and cool under pressure. She has the endorsment of nearly all of our allies including Canada, most of the EU, and most of South America.

Trump would be an embarrassment to American integrity. He has repeatedly been baited into outbursts on the national stage, resorts to name calling, made fun of a Gold Star Family (and then doubled down on it), has lashed out at his own party, has made remarks about women that prove he isn't ready to be a representative, and called the President of Mexico a liar on Twitter on his first official envoy mission. Our allies have not endorsed him and have continually expressed their fear of a Trump presidency. Trump makes demands, can't explain how he would get diplomatic endeavors done, and has an exceptionally poor grasp on foreign affairs - a gap made glaringly obvious during the debates. He has gone on record saying he hits back 10x as hard when he feels wronged, said he'd put his political opponent in jail if he wins, peddles conspiracy theories, and has refused to accept the results of the election if he loses, challenging a core tenant of democracy: the peaceful transition of power.

On LGBT rights...
Clinton was the first First Lady to invite openly gay couples to the White House and walk in a gay pride parade. She cosponsored bills to reduce LGBT hate crimes and fought to preserve HIV/AIDS funding. As Secretary of State she gave a historic speech in Geneva saying that gay rights were human rights, announced that it was formal US policy to enforce LGBT rights abroad, and eventually came out in support of full marriage equality in 2013. I do not fault her for taking time to evolve into that last position and believe she has a long enough history advocating for LGBT rights beyond marriage. She has the endorsement of nearly every LGBT-focused organization in America, including the HRC, It Gets Better, and more. She is opposed to North Carolina's Bathroom Bill.

Trump can't get the support of the Log Cabin Republicans thanks to his positions on LGBT people that are either unclear or downright discriminatory. He has insinuated that his Supreme Court would strike reverse Marriage Equality. His running mate believes that businesses should discriminate against gay workers by not hiring them, is fervently against Marriage Equality, and believes in gay conversion therapy. Trump himself is against Marriage Equality and has refused to endorse workplace equality acts. He expressed support for North Carolina's Bathroom Bill, saying that the states should decide.

On climate change...
Clinton believes that clean energy is our future and has outlined a detailed plan to increase investment into these energies, cut carbon output, and penalize organizations that harm the environment. While her support of fracking should be scrutinized, Clinton believes that climate change is a clear and present danger to the world and recognizes that America needs to be more environmentally sensitive.

Trump believes that climate change is a hoax created by the Chinese and refuses to accept the scientific consensus that it's real. He wants to invest more in coal and wants to leave the Paris Agreement - a global climate change pact.

On scandals...
Clinton expressed poor judgement in the handling of her emails, but has apologized and, after an investigation by the FBI, was cleared of criminal wrongdoing. She has been the target of conspiracy theories, usually surrounding her health or husband - the former being utterly debunked and the latter unproven or irrelevant to her personal candidacy. Benghazi continues to be a thorn in her side despite one of the lengthiest and expensive trials in American history clearing her of any wrongdoing.

Trump is the least transparent candidate in recent American politics. He has not released his tax returns, praises Russia, and will soon be on trial for racketeering and child rape. He has been part of numerous trials, notably ones for not paying his employees. His support of Wikileaks and more - which have Russian involvement trying to sway the election in his favor - is especially troubling. He invited Bill Clinton's accusers to a press conference immediately before the second debate. Most importantly, Trump peddles the conspiracy that the election is literally rigged.

On lies...
According to Politifact, Clinton has made 145 true or mostly true statements, 67 half true statements, 40 mostly false statements, and 36 false or mostly false statements.

According to Politifact, Trump has made 48 true or mostly true statements, 46 half true statements, 61 mostly false statements, and 163 false or mostly false statements.

On immigration...
Clinton supports strengthening border security in problem areas, but does not believe in building a large wall. She supports immigration and security checks. She does not support mass deportation and would not deport alien parents from their citizen children. Under Clinton, not much on immigration would change from the Obama era.

Trump recently said that Clinton would allow 650M immigrants into America, a claim that would nearly triple the population of the United States. He has claimed he would build a literal wall on the Mexican border, but has not explained how to pay for it. He peddles lies about our refugee process to fear monger and has supported a deportation force. He can not explain how he would pay for these measures and believes that Americans would take the jobs deported immigrants currently do despite data to the contrary. He called for unconstitutional religious checks, specifically looking for Muslims, on immigrants and even called for the complete ban of Muslims entering America. He has called Mexicans rapists, drug dealers, and "bad hombres."

On demographic support...
Clinton has 78% lead among black voters and a 23% lead among Hispanics when compared to Trump. Of people who hold a post-college degree, Clinton holds a 37% lead. She leads Trump by 13% among people with a college degree. Trump leads Clinton among people who haven't completed high school by 5% and people who went to some college by 4%. Women support Clinton by 9% more and men support Trump by 1%. Clinton has a 24% lead among voters aged 18 to 39. Trump leads Clinton by 2% among voter 65+ and 5% by voters 40 to 64.

---

And guys... listen. There's more. I barely touched foreign policy, didn't talk about education, left out hundreds of Trump's gaffes, and didn't even get near any third party candidate (TL;DR Not the time for a protest vote) or healthcare. There are still the issues of gun control, the First Amendment, and books could be written about the Supreme Court. I probably made some typos too. Long story short, I'm scared of Trump's America and I hope you are too. Lastly... read. Read stories from reputable sources. Don't just read headlines and don't seek confirmation on your biases from dodgy publications.

Vote on November 8th for Hillary Clinton. The race is just too tight.

Roller Coaster Ferris Wheel

Say hello to one of the weirder coasters that's ever existed. Named Round About, this ride by Premier Rides operated at the now defunct Freestyle Music Park in South Carolina for a meager year before standing but not operating (SBNO) for five years. It's now being relocated to a park in Vietnam and will open as Paradise Falls.

The ride's most unique feature is, obviously, the ferris wheel lift. Many rides have either a chain, cable, or elevator lift, but this ride decided to do things just a liiiiitle differently. It's a shame that this coaster was at the doomed Freestyle Music Park, but it's certainly cool to see some creativity!

I came out when I was 14 and it wasn't my choice. My parents outed me, hoping to "correct" me so that my life would be the easiest, most successful life possible. Instead of giving into that, I said, "F*** it," and embraced my homosexuality actively, purposefully, and deliberately.

(I was 14) Watching his reaction, I noticed that I had switched the power dynamic. By embracing my identity, I finally had a leg to stand on and up to jerks. My identity, previously a secret, became a shield. This wasn't always easy and didn't come right away, but it proved to be one my biggest sources of strength as I became an adult. I remained resistant to "stereotypical gayness" - which I viewed as an all-too-easy coping mechanism to make myself more understandable, less authentic, and less threatening to the females I needed to fit in with - while I made my homosexuality a core part of who 'Carter' was.

Being outed was one of the hardest, but also one of the best things that have ever happened to me. While I still have scars that can make me cold or emotionally closed off, my experience coming out has made a stronger leader, activator, writer, commentator, friend, and manager.

Listen. It's never easy to come out, but I promise you'll learn something about yourself you didn't know before. Stick with it and know that my community is here for you whenever you need help, advice, a shoulder to cry on, or a party to go to.

My advice to any gay, bi, trans, or otherwise queer person coming out today? Stand defiant.

Fact: Mean Streak is the worst roller coaster in the world

Okay, so maybe that's subjective, but there's a reason this ride is closed and currently being dismantled (presumably to be rebuilt by Rocky Mountain Coaster Co). Located at Cedar Point, this wooden coaster is one of the longest, tallest, and fastest in the world - but it's also one of the roughest, lacks exciting elements, and is despised by enthusiasts. The ride was constructed by the Dinn Corporation which was only around for nine years before going defunct in 1992.

It's a shame... and I won't miss it. I've never been in more pain on a roller coaster.

Length: 5,427 ft
Height: 161 ft
Drop: 155 ft

Speed: 65 mph
Duration: 3:13

Women everywhere deserve to be represented in political office by people who value them, advocate for their health, encourage their ambition, and who will fight others who don't. The realities of our election process may not have presented you with your number one pick, but that doesn't make the current threats women face any less real.

I am utterly distressed that our zeitgeist may have been adversely affected by something as simple as words and can only hope that we, as a people, push back against any language that makes any woman feel like she exists to be someone's entertainment.

Announcing Community Stream Ranking

We know that many Communities, especially larger ones, can get messy. It can be harder than it should be to find the best content a Community has to offer. To help you find better content faster, we’ve improved how content is displayed in Communities. Beginning today, users will be defaulted to viewing ranked content within their Community streams with the option to return to chronologically ordered posts.

Community stream ranking will sort the most engaging recent content towards the top of the stream. However, we know that individual users have individual needs. That’s why users will be able to switch back and forth between chronological and stream ranked at their discretion from ‘Community Settings’. Never miss another great Community post

Great conversations make for vibrant Communities, and there’s no better conversation starter than an interesting post. But with all the activity lively Communities have, even the most compelling posts can slide out of view before you have a chance to see them. To make sure you never miss out on what’s up, we’re changing the way Community posts are displayed to show you the good stuff first.

Starting today, whenever you visit a Community, you’ll see the most high quality, relevant posts up top, rather than the just the most recent ones. Of course, if you’d like to switch back to chronological view, it’s easy to do so from the Community Settings / Preferences menu.

We’ll be rolling this out gradually, so please visit your favorite Community and let us know what you think!

What the relationship between Support and Community Management?

A long time ago, I was asked to lend some advice for a slide deck with Community Management tips. I recently discovered this deck and will be sharing a few gems from it over the next couple of weeks. This question was about the relationship between Support and Community, which are frequently confused since both roles spend a lot of time talking to users and advocating for them.

If I were to add one more part to my answer here, it'd be that CM's identify high value users / influencers to represent specifically while Support advocates for the user base as a whole. While Support may also have VIP programs, the two departments have different goals. Support is here to solve issues. Community is here to engage.

Going back to American University for the first time in four years, I wasn't expecting to have such a great time. I know that there are some problematic things happening at AU right now, but meeting up with my mentors in Kogod reaffirmed that there are so many incredible educators there who find genuine value helping students. These two women (and Jen!) are such huge reasons for why I am where I am. They encouraged me to be myself when I knew DC wasn't for me. They reprimanded me when I went too far. They sighed at me a lot. They laughed with me a ton. They heart to hearted whenever I needed it.

I left AU, this time, prouder then I did as a recent graduate.

Banshee at King's Island: World's Largest Inverted Coaster

Occupying the land of the now defunct and demolished Son Of Beast coaster (the ill-fated wooden coaster with a steel loop), Banshee is a B&M invert that's the longest in the world. Interestingly, it isn't the tallest and doesn't have the biggest drop (both honors go to Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Williamsburg). However, the ride is full of unique elements, like a vertical loop over the lift hill and a pretzel loop - which is a dive loop to an immelman.

Length: 4,124 ft
Height: 167 ft
Drop: 150 ft
Inversions: 7
Speed: 68 mph
Duration: 2:40

Alright, this piece of roller coaster trivia is very personal....

This ride is called Maverick. It's built by Intamin, is located at Cedar Point, and is a wildly intense airtime machine with relentlessly sudden maneuvers. Needless to say, it's an incredible ride - so I drove to Cedar Point, Ohio from Washington, DC on my 21st birthday to do just that. (also, worth mentioning, I'm clearly a super geek to do that instead of go bar hopping)

We ride Maverick first and it's everything I've ever wanted. To this day, it's my favorite roller coaster. I'm euphoric. I'm on cloud 9. I realize that I've lost my car key.

This is bad, bad news. I have to be at work on Monday and I'm in Ohio. My car is in the parking lot. All our stuff is in the car because we entered the park earlier than we could get into our rooms. And that was the only... more »

And that was the only key to my car within hundreds of miles. And at least a third of that ride is over water. This is disaster and I'm clearly doomed.

So I go off to ride some more rides and forget about it. "Maybe, just maybe they'll find it," I think to myself, terrified that I'd have to call my father and sort things out. A few hours pass and we go to the car. I still haven't told my friend that the key is gone. She goes up, pulls on the back handle, and - ta da! - the door opens. In my excitement to ride Maverick, I've left the car unlocked. Brilliant!

Long story short, I call my dad and he is very unhappy. Apparently, these fancy keys costs hundreds of dollars to make and shipping one, Red Label, to Cedar Point from my hometown in Virginia was not an easy sell. But he does it. Because he loves me. And because he can solve any problem. I tell him my car's VIN and he gets a key maker to make another key. (at least I think that's how it worked...) I, amazingly, have given my spare key to my best friend so I wouldn't lose it instead of keeping it with my parents. She's in NYC during this time.

When the newly minted key arrives the next morning to the hotel, it's time for the moment of truth. I try to unlock the car and.... nothing. The key is a dud. It doesn't work. We're trapped. I tell my friend about the whole ordeal. Everyone is very upset with me. Something about a bunch of money and losing those jobs we have on Monday as hourly workers? Meh. You know...

In a last ditch effort, I go back to Maverick and sheepishly ask if they found a key for a Toyota. A kid rummages through a box of keys and pulls one out. "This is the only Toyota key we have. We found it on the tracks. Is it yours?" It is a black, nondescript, Toyota key. There is no way of telling whether or not it's mine.

I take it.

We run back to the car in the Ohio heat, our hearts beating not so much from the running, but from either the fear of disappointing your friends and family or how angry you're about to be at me for trapping you at an amusement park in Ohio by accident. We arrive to the parking lot and I press the unlock button with each leap I take forward towards my blue Rav4. It isn't working. It isn't working. Closer and closer and still it isn't wo- holy. shit. It worked. Some guy had walked out onto Maverick's track and retrieved my key.

I call my dad to tell him that his key didn't work and they found mine. He wasn't very happy about that.

And that is my trivia about Maverick at Cedar Point!___

For 2017, quite a few Six Flags parks will get these S&S Power designed roller coasters called '4D Free-Fly Coasters.' They're relatively cheap with a small footprint and provide a much better ride than Intamin ZapSpins. Riders sit outside of the track and are flipped head over foot throughout the experience.

But I bet you didn't know that the track of these S&S Power designed rides is actually manufactured by the beloved Rocky Mountain Company (RMC). If you look closely, you'll notice the track used on these rides is the same as RMC's world renowned coasters like Storm Chaser and Twisted Colossus.

New Google+ Becomes THE Google+

A long time ago, I sat in my college bedroom and wrote long into the night on Google+. That's how I first met a lot of you. That commitment to everything but my schoolwork eventually brought me to San Francisco where I started my career in Community Management. Years and years later, I was given the opportunity to come to Google and lead the Content and Community Management team as a Program Manager on Google+, bringing my life weirdly full circle. I haven’t talked a lot about what I actually do here at Google, but today I feel compelled.

With an emphasis on Collections and Communities, a new version of the product - built from the ground up - launched in beta last year alongside Classic Google+. Bringing the new Google+ to more people

Last November, (http://goo.gl/Yn6mjA) we introduced a preview on web of a fully redesigned Google+ to make it easier for people to discover and connect around unique and interesting things. From a Japanese astronaut sharing his experience in the International Space Station (http://goo.gl/JZQ7wH) to food lovers sharing their passion for breadmaking (http://goo.gl/wEh0C8), people are using Google+ to explore their interests more than ever.

Since introducing the new version, twice as many Collections are followed per day and there are 1.6 million daily new Community joins. Many of you have also shared feedback and requests, and we’ve been listening (http://goo.gl/rPpAzY).

Today, we’re announcing three new updates for Google+.

First, some new features. You can now have richer conversations by adding links and photos to your comments. We’re also offering Community owners and moderators more control over who posts what with approved posting. Finally, we're launching a new notifications center on the web where you can see and manage your recent activity on Google+. These features will be available across the web, Android and iOS in the coming weeks.

Second, if you haven’t yet previewed the new Google+, over the next few days we’ll upgrade you to the experience when you sign in on the web. You’ll still be able to toggle back to classic Google+ for the time being.

Finally, businesses have told us that they’ve found Google+ to be a valuable way to help employees share ideas and expertise via Collections and Communities, and we’re looking forward to making it available to more organizations. Today, Google Apps users already using Google+ (http://goo.gl/GxGRXo) will also see the new experience (goo.gl/IJtbah) when they sign in and in the next few weeks, Google+ will become a core Google for Work service.

From the interesting (http://goo.gl/yP2QJp), to the surprising (http://goo.gl/3dk0Xs), and the delightful (goo.gl/gix7s6), we hope Google+ continues to help you discover amazing things from passionate people.___New Google+ Becomes THE Google+

That commitment to everything but my schoolwork eventually brought me to San Francisco where I started my career in Community Management. With an emphasis on Collections and Communities, a new version of the product - built from the ground up - launched in beta last year alongside Classic Google+. Over the past few months, Google+ has committed to a new vision focused on helping people connect through shared interests. Today, new Google+ becomes the default option for all users. Additionally, we’re adding some much-requested new features like embeds in comments, Community owners can hold posts for review or whitelist certain members, and a new notification center.

I’m thrilled to have been a part of this transition along with my team of 10+ Community Managers. Transitions are never easy (for the team or for our users), but we’re very lucky that Google+ has always been a valuable tool to help people connect. Committing to that vision has felt natural to get behind. When I think of Google+, I think of it A) as a place to get original content from amazing creators you can’t get anywhere else, B) as a destination for you and your interests specifically, and C) as a portal to get to know the people behind those interests.

With the ability to follow people’s specific Collections instead of their entire account, millions of Communities to join, and an incredible array of thousands of Featured Collections (via my team #humblebrag), I know that anyone trying out Google+ for the first time today will find something they’re into. Defaulting users to this new version of G+ isn’t the first step towards a better Google+, but it’s certainly one of the biggest.

I look forward to continuing to foster the creative core of Google+ through Create in English, Portuguese, and in India. I can’t wait to give more early access features to those in our Trusted Tester program and represent their feedback to the rest of the Google+ team. I anticipate many more days of coming into work with a smile on my face because of my glorious team of Community Managers and because of the amazing stuff uploaded every single day that we get to feature.

If you're wondering whether two weeks in Iceland are the greatest, I can confirm that they are. We rented a Happy Camper and traveled across the entirety of the island, hiking to waterfalls, glaciers, and hot springs. And while all of that was so amazing, I'm pretty happy to be back to work!
