Scott Jarvie429,378*POST YOUR GOOGLE+ ALBUM OF PICTURES* It's been very very popular event in the past and I'm finally doing it again tonight. _This time it will be more organized, more heads up than usual and even a live event._ *SHARE AN ALBUM/GALLERY LINK* It's simple and easy but a lot of work and very fun for all. You simply share an album here and I'll be going through every single one of the albums. Then I will +1 the pictures in the album that I'm really drawn to. *BENEFIT* Well it's simply if you'd love to know which pictures I like most.  I always loved knowing which pictures people really love of mine because it helps me have an eye for which pictures are best received. It's a huge part of becoming a better photographer in my opinion. _*To be able to put out great art is first to know what great art looks like*_ *ON AIR* This will be something new... I'm going to go through all the albums Live, Online as an On-Air hangout. I'll talk a little bit about what I'm doing. If the show goes well I'll keep it for later viewing on YouTube... if the recording isn't great I won't. *SPECIAL GUEST* Because I want to have an outloud conversation about what and why I'm doing things  I will have my good friend and great photographer @109486822103622036238 on the show to facilitate the discussion. She will also visit a lot of these albums and +1 pictures as well. We ask that everyone add her to a circle ... not just because she's awesome (though that's reason enough) but so that if any of these albums are by mistake limited access she will have access. *DIRECTIONS* 1. Paste a link of a Google+ image gallery 2. Put a title or description of what we'll see in the album 3.  *IMPORTANT* If you post a link you hereby give us permission to use a screenshare view of all those pictures and perhaps your profile in a recorded Youtube video. 4. Make sure the album is Public access 5. Add @100962871525684315897  @109486822103622036238 to your circles 6. Return the favor. Take some of the other people's albums and +1 some of your favorites. *IMPORTANT* It bears repeating: _If you post a link you hereby give us permission to use a screenshare view of all those pictures and your profile (maybe) in a recorded Youtube video._ Do not post a link if you are not ok with lots of people visiting that link in addition to us and are not ok with it being on video as well.Share your Album- A Jarvie PlusOne Critique Experience2012-09-12 05:30:00143

Day 191 - 365 Day Challenge
10 July 2015
Lakeside sunset

This afternoon's photo adventure started badly, I got to the lake (fortunately I chose a spot quite close to home) and discovered I had no memory card in my camera... Argh, I think it's the 3rd time I've done this since I got the Sony A7ii - my Nikon D7100 has 2 cards so you don't even know when you've left your card at home until you get back and find it still in the computer! Anyway, dashed home and got back to the lake in time to capture this, pretty happy with the result!___Please comment on +Mandy Creighton original post.

Orphaned Drop Bear Cub

Being fed human blood to stay alive!!!!!

Drop Bear Attack Survivor groups are up in arms over a local zoo's adoption of an orphaned Drop Bear Cub. The razor-sharp-fanged, red-eyed, vicious baby killer requires three times its own body weight in raw meat to sustain it. It's preferred meal is, of course, human flesh

To put things in perspective, that means that three other animals have to die to keep this vicious, yet very cute carnivore alive, and at least a litre of human blood from the +Australian Red Cross Blood Service is being diverted away from people that may need it for transfusions.

The zoo in question yesterday refused to comment.

I have two kids over 16, both of them have dealings with Centrelink.  I have phoned on their behalf more than once.  I will just say that 17 min wait time would be a luxury, I do not think I have ever had my call  answered in less than an hour.
More than once I have finally got through only to be cut off.  If this was a private sector industry it would function far more efficiently and probably more cost effectively too.

Summed up perfectly

And tonight his watch will not even get started

Like so many other Australians, I want to watch the MUCH anticipated Game of Thrones season premier. There's been a lot of talk about options for obtaining content in the face of major reforms coming to anti-piracy laws, so this should be a no-brainer. Right? I mean, I should be flooded with choices for watching this much loved and much desired show.
So with my finger hovering over a "pay now" button, I went in search of a way to watch Game of Thrones, at the time of release (within 24-48 hours after each episode releases) and on my television. That's not much to ask, right? I pay you, Mr and/or Mrs Content Rights Holder and in turn, you provide access to your content at a reasonable time and a reasonable cost. That's the deal, isn't it?

OK, here we go:
Option 1: My preferred option would be to purchase through Google Play, as this is where the rest of my digital library exists, including the first 4 seasons of GoT, which I have already purchased there. However, Google Play will not have access to the show until after it's entire run has completed, 3 months from now.

Option 2: Netflix Australia - will not have access to the show until after the season finishes.

Option 3: Stan - will not have access to the show until after the season ends, or maybe not at all

Option 4: Presto - will not have access to the show until after the season ends, or maybe not at all

Option 5: Foxtel Play - Now Foxtel's own streaming service could definitely be an option, it has access to the show right away, with episodes becoming available within hours of release in the US.  The $30 a month fee is high, but with no lock in contract, it would mean a  $90 payment over 3 months, just to watch GoT. Exorbitant, but I was just about to hit the 'sign me up' button when I noticed one more 'not so minor' issue. As listed on the website, Foxtel Play does not support Chromecast for reasons of 'broadcast restrictions'. It's not a technical problem, it's just a bad business decision. So as a Chromecast owner, to resolve this issue, it's not just a $90 subscription to cover the 3 months, it's also the need to purchase different hardware such as a Samsung Smart TV or Apple TV, again not for technical reasons, but simply for some crap, draconian business model with a stranglehold over content distribution in Australia.

Option 6: So that leaves me with one final option, a full Foxtel subscription, with all its hardware fees and lock-in contracts. If I went this route, I'd be up for something close to $690, just to watch one TV show over a 3 month period. faceplam

I think the final line in this article from the SMH sums it up quite nicely, " It seems consumers will pay given the right price and product. Surely the priority of government and rights holders should be seizing the opportunities this presents rather than protecting failing business models."

Her scalp and full head of hair were on the bottom of the pool. He severed her spinal cord. And he never gave her body up. They had to forcibly take the body away from him.

If an animal is not endangered and needed for a breeding programme, what is the point of keeping them in captivity.  I know there are good reasons for some animals to be held in captivity, but if there really is not a valid reason, why perpetuate it.  Animals are not here for our entertainment.
