Hyperlapse: Time-lapse on Steroids!
You probably know what time-lapse is, right? BUT... do you know what _Hyper-lapse Photography_ is? It's "a technique combining time-lapse and sweeping camera movements typically focused on a point-of-interest" [quote from http://www.teehanlax.com/labs/hyperlapse/].
The video below is an example.
At http://www.teehanlax.com/labs/hyperlapse/, you can create your own hyper-lapse videos from the image material gathered for Google Street View. Just define the start and the end of your journey, and the software will do the rest (with some restrictions to keep the server load manageable).

From last week's NYT Magazine, a portrait of a runner with staggering skills. He can run 8 hours without drinking because he barely sweats. He was born in the Pyrenees and completed a 7.5-mile cross-country ski race when he was 3. A few years ago he ran the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail (plus a 5-mile detour) and beat the previous record by 7 hours.

Okay, April 12th is Walk to Work Day. Who's in? Google maps is telling me it's 35 miles, and about 11.5 hours. I'm thinking we leave from the Mission at around midnight, hopefully beating the expected walking time, arriving at work before lunch.
