Someone mentioned how they find GOP endorsements of Clinton bothersome/troublesome.

Let's put it another way.

This election is about saving America and the world from Trump and  the alt-right nationalist crowd who denies reality so they can feel good about white privilege.  It's about having a shot at dealing with climate change.  It's about not being forced into the Christian Dominionist straitjacket of Right wing Christian Sharia.  It's about civil rights for women, LGBTQ folks, people of color.  It's about rights for trans folks.  It's about not having a short tempered impulsive person who has no depth of knowledge in charge of the nuclear codes.  It's about defeating a guy whose willing to tear apart and delegitimize the election in people's minds so he doesn't feel so bad about losing, who implies that when black folks vote, it'sstealin... more »

So I got down in the dumps, because hubby won't be home the day I expected, so I went and bought a book about tyrannosaurs.

Transferring to another wildfire. Stop burning, Idaho!

I know snopes had a page up about this yesterday (and I pulled down a post questioning the donations based on that) but this is new, fact checkers who follow me.

Promised a check to Tony Perkins' church.  Has not arrived.

Nobody knows who provided the truck that Trump used for his photo op.  Evidently Trump never said he donated it to the pastor, and comments confirming one way or the other have been vague and unclear.

No knowledge if Trump donated to the charity the governor recommended.

This would be easy to clarify, ya know.

We had a burglary a couple of years ago  at my house, and my hubby met the police at the door with a shotgun.  They handled it well, secured the gun, and then proceeded to make sure the burglar was gone.

He was lucky, that he's mixed Japanese-Anglo and not African-Anglo, maybe...or our police are less hair trigger, or maybe both....

Since I'm interested in what I describe as the anthropology of religion, I found this interesting...and what it says about the froth of religious practice in the US.  The Atlantic also did a writeup of this Pew survey; shorter but hits a lot of the key points:  http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/08/religious-participation-survey/496940/?utm_source=feed

Fantasy island time again.  For comparison, during the primaries, Cruz did have folks that didn't poll...but Trump was what you saw was what you got.  Wouldn't be counting on this effect, no.

It's about defeating a guy whose willing to tear apart and delegitimize the election in people's minds so he doesn't feel so bad about losing, who implies that when black folks vote, it'sstealin... more »

It's damn well not about progressive purity.

It's the general election.  We want all the allies possible. ___

His principal assistant, Margaret “Peggy” Cifrino, informed me then via email that their calendar showed that the Albright dinner had occurred in June 2009. While he didn’t recall some details of the dinner because it had occurred seven years ago, according to Cifrino, he remembered what he did and didn’t say to Clinton on the topic in question that evening:

He does recall sharing with Secretary Clinton his use of his email account and how useful it was and transformative for the Department. So it is perplexing for him to say he doesn’t remember that dinner conversation at all now, since, according to his own assistant, he remembered at least some of what he said as recently as two months ago.___
