Moe „Gilvan Blight“ Tousignant3,153#RPG   #RPGCirlce   #CircleShare  A few days back +Claytonian JP  asked me to share my G+ circle. This is me continuing to do so.As I have found so many awesome gamers on G+ and you can only share 500 at a time I've broken my RPG gamers down into smaller circles sorted by "First Name" or whatever counts as that as far as google is concerned. This particular circle is my O-R circle. Now this contains people that in some way or another have indicated to me they are into pen and Paper RPGs.  It includes designers, writers, podcasters, artists, world builders, publisher, games masters, players, fans and fanatics. If you do circle any of these fine folks it would be nice if you took some time to introduce yourself.2012-10-08 19:02:36365312

Most speak English but there are a few Spanish speaking users in there as well. The interesting part is I know none of them personally (those would go in my friends or colleague circles) but are still interesting enough to follow.Hope you find them as interesting as me :)2012-03-21 22:22:07190217

Wishing Google+ would show the number of notifications one has in the browser's tab, similar to how FB, Twitter, and Tumblr have it set up. That way when I'm not on the Google+ tab, I can be aware when a notification comes in.

Toy Story 3
Netflix Review

I finally got around to watching Toy Story 3 on Netflix. It was a good movie, a very good movie in fact. If you were a fan of either Toy Story 1 or 2, you will love this film. If you grew up with the franchise or if you are a fan of Pixar you will be delighted by the flick. The movie knows exactly how to pull on your emotional heart strings at exactly the right moments. However, if you do not fall into any of the previously mentioned categories, and if you are not a child, you will feel as if something special is missing from this Pixar film. Toy Story 3 does not hold up to the high standards that the wonderful, beautiful, and amazing UP created, but it is nevertheless an entertaining watch. Well worth my time, but it still felt as if something were missing. Just my two cents.

This is a wonderful song by Soko named "I'll Kill Her". It is a great song that creates a strange but alluring atmosphere.

[Side Note]: It feels as if it has been ages since I last logged onto Google+. Just haven't had enough time. Every time I'm about to log on I feel as if I need to dedicate a couple of hours to G+, but since I don't have that type of time anymore I just don't log on. I don't feel as if I can just log on for a few minutes so I tend to avoid it in general. Anyway, enjoy the song, it is amazing.

I'm With You by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Album Review

I'm a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan and I finally got a chance to sit down and listen to their entire new album entitled "I'm With You". As a whole it is a really good effort with many solid tracks. I had a great time listening to the album. Unfortunately, I've come to expect better than good from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, I've come to expect amazing, and this album never reached any levels of greatness, in my personal opinion. Something seemed to be missing from the entire album, and it's likely that the missing ingredient was John Frusciante, as I don't remember any memorable guitar licks throughout the entire track list. The guitar just seemed to be following everyone else along, without saying anything meaningful. On a bright note, Flea's amazing bass lines were ever present... more »

The guitar just seemed to be following everyone else along, without saying anything meaningful. On a bright note, Flea's amazing bass lines were ever present throughout the entire album, which seemed to bring new life to each track. Though many of the tracks were very solid and a joy to listen to, none of them stood out as classics, or even radio friendly singles. I really did enjoy some of the titles of the tracks though, including "Monarchy of Roses", The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie (Their current single), and "Even You Brutus" (Which I felt was the most original song of the lot, though the name still makes me chuckle).

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed "I'm With You", I just felt that it was missing that special "magic" that most of their other albums contain.

If you haven't listened to the album yet, here is a link to the entire album, streaming, so you don't have to download a thing: http://www.91x.com/pages/newmusic?Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers---Im-With-You-albu=1&blockID=546392&feedID=7098___

Texas Passes Law Allowing Hunters to Kill Feral Pigs From Helicopters

Feral pigs are becoming a large problem in Texas, so a law was passed allowing hunters to be able to kill these pigs from helicopters. The pros to this approach: The pig population will go down and greatly help farmers. The cons: Having untrained hunters shooting at the ground from the sky. I was born and raised in Texas and I am not sure whether I feel proud, ashamed, or indifferent about this new law. Be sure to watch the video in the link and let me know what you think.

The Chairs' Hiatus An Online Comic by Matthew Bogart

I was introduced to +Matthew Bogart 's web comic "The Chairs' Hiatus" through a post that +Steve Harrison made a couple of days ago. It was a great recommendation that I highly enjoyed. I can't wait till the next installment of this wonderful work of art comes out. The comic is gripping and engaging. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys comics in the vein of "Ghost World". Be sure to give it a read and be on the lookout for the next chapter.

Edit
The comic has actually already come to a close with 3 chapters. As a reader I was very satisfied with the ending, I am just left wishing there was more because I enjoyed the story so much.

Pirates of Silicon Valley Review

Pirates of Silicon Valley is in one word: inspiring. Pirates may be nothing more than a TNT made for TV movie, but it shines thanks to an amazing story and wonderful performances from all of the cast. Noah Whyle, who played Dr. Carter on E.R., a role that I will always admire him for, as well as playing the main character in the Librarian, gives a stunning performance by portraying Steve Jobs as a real human being. Anthony Michael Hall, who I will always remember for his great roles in John Hughes' films, also delivers an excellent performance as Bill Gates, perfectly capturing all of his mannerisms and kinks. Even John DiMaggio, Bender from Futurama, and Joey Slotnick turn in amazing performances as Steve Ballmer and Steve Wozniak respectively.

Though it would have been great if the film would have gone into more detail on certain topics, at times the viewer feels as if they missed important revelations in the movie, Pirates still stands out as an excellent retelling of a truly inspiring, though at times not so moral, story.

In my opinion, The Social Network is the better flick when comparing the two, but that is largely thanks to David Fincher's mastery of the art of film, because clearly the story of Jobs and Gates is infinitely more inspiring and amazing than that of Zuckerberg's.

Anyone remotely interested in technology or the beginnings of the personal computer market should definitely check this film out.

[Side Note: I much prefer referring to this film as "Pirates", instead of referring to Pirates of the Caribbean as "Pirates". The first flick was great, but the sequels in my opinion were rubbish.]

[Another Side Note: While originally typing this post I accidentally deleted it all from the Google+ share box and had no way of recovering it. I now type out all of my longer posts in Evernote before sharing them on Google+. This is a perfect way to create drafts and then post them on G+ whenever needed. Now all I need is for the side info on Google+ to stay static, with the stream being the only object that scrolls, and I will be very satisfied with the Google+ design.]___

Apparently my phone, the Samsung Galaxy S, has officially been banned in Europe, though it will take 7 weeks for the phones to be officially taken off the shelves. The way photos are shown on the device was the issue that helped Apple win the lawsuit. Could mean trouble for Android since the Galaxy S' photo viewing capabilities were connected to Android. These patent wars are not good for the consumers at all.

I finally made it out to the gym last night. It felt like it had been ages since I last went. I took it slow, but it still felt great to start working out again.

While on the treadmill Rage Against The Machine's "No Shelter" started playing on Pandora and I noticed that it was on the Godzilla (1999) soundtrack. Once the song was over I heard a clearly recognizable guitar riff and I instantly thought I knew the name of the next song. I was wrong, so wrong, and I felt so bad about it. Watching MTV during my young and impressionable years must have done me no good. I heard the guitar riff and instantly thought of Puff Daddy's "Come With Me" instead of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". Sure "Come With Me" heavily samples "Kashmir" and Jimmy Page re-recorded the riff for the Puff Daddy remix, but I still should have thought Zeppelin not Puffy,... more »

Sure "Come With Me" heavily samples "Kashmir" and Jimmy Page re-recorded the riff for the Puff Daddy remix, but I still should have thought Zeppelin not Puffy, even if the Rage song put the Godzilla album into my mind and "Come With Me" was the lead single off of that soundtrack. On a semi-related note, The Wallflowers had a great single on the Godzilla soundtracked named "Heroes", which is an amazing Bowie cover.

Speaking of MTV, while on the elliptical I noticed that Rob Dyrdek was on TV with Rowdy Roddy Piper. For a second I thought they were related, but then I realized Dyrdek gets to do some pretty amazing things on MTV, including getting to be a part of WrestleMania. For some reason though, he doesn't seem like the nicest of guys, even though he has a "nice guy" persona on TV.

Also, while at the gym I noticed that all the news reports being shown on TV, minus the local news, had already been brought to my attention through Google+. I found it rather intriguing.

All this television watching got me thinking that even though I may watch a fair amount of TV, I don't actually watch TV on a television anymore, all my TV watching gets done online, and I like it that way.

Quick question. Why do some women put on make-up to go to the gym? They begin to sweat and their make-up ends up getting smeared. By the time they leave the gym they look worse than they would have looked without any make-up on. It boggles my mind.

On a completely unrelated note, I still find it a tad annoying when the notification bar freezes up if I get too many notifications or updates to a post at a time. Oh well, we are still in a limited field trial, no reason to complain I guess. It would be nice to be able to bookmark a post though, for easy access to it later.

My rant has finally come to an end and I leave you with the remixed version of the Zeppelin classic "Kashmir", dubbed "Come With Me" by Puff Daddy. I used to listen to this song over and over again when I was younger. I even went on a campaign to get everyone I knew to listen to it. [However, the movie Godzilla is horrible, if you have never seen, be sure to keep it that way.]___

Was contemplating rooting my Android phone in order to be able to test out a GingerBread Rom. I ended up deciding against the rooting. Other than being able to install GingerBread on my phone, the rooting brought me no significant benefits that I felt were a necessity. Everything I need my phone to do it already does, and when the occasion occurs for my phone to do something it cannot already do, I would rather have fun creating an app to enable my phone to perform those functions, than to just root the device. Regarding GingerBread, I might be updating my phone soon so I can try out GingerBread then.

Instead of rooting the phone I ended up installing a couple of new launchers, Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher, and a new app, Auto-SMS. Combined with the fact that I installed a new wallpaper for the phone, I now feel like I am enjoying a completely new device.

Bebe's Kids is a great animated film. Though "Bebe's kids" are the main focus of the picture, everything is seen through the eyes of the man who has to take care of them for a day. This setup lets the film be enjoyable to both children and adults. There are plenty of jokes that kids will laugh at and enjoy, but at the same time there are enough subtle adult oriented jokes that will keep the older generation entertained throughout the whole movie. It's a funny film, but more importantly it contains good morals that should be followed by both children and adults. There is not much more I can say about the flick since I feel that I am biased towards liking it. I've seen this movie countless times as a child, and re-watching it brought up many great memories. On an unrelated note, the other day I watched the film Law Abiding Citizen and noticed that a DVX100 camera was used in one of the scenes. This reminded me of what a great camera the DVX is. It was even used for production in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The DVX100B has never let me down. Just wanted to mention this and show appreciation for the Panasonic video camera line.

On an even more unrelated note, I'm still wishing that there was a way to sort the posts in my stream from the date that the posts were made, instead of being sorted by the most recent comment.___

On a more superficial level, having a new wallpaper always makes me feel like I just bought a new computer, especially combined with the fact that I'm currently testing out Chrome.

I ended up spending hours on Google looking for the perfect image, but was not able to find one. I even browsed Bing for an image, but was still not able to find anything. While searching Bing though, a couple of NSFW images appeared, which I found very disturbing since my searches only included key phrases like wallpaper, computer, and coding, nothing that should have delivered NSFW images in my search. I also spent hours contemplating whether I should use a couple of Hackers' images or not; the wallpapers were the actual desktops from different characters' computers from the movie. They looked very elite, but nothing felt right.

At the end of the day I ended up creating my own wallpaper in Photoshop. It is clearly inspired by this post by +Matt Cutts : https://plus.google.com/109412257237874861202/posts/doBLhKpGVR2

The wallpaper might not be the best, but I love the way it looks on my laptop. Let me know what you think.___

While browsing a user's Google+ profile which was in another language, Chrome offered to translate the page for me from Vietnamese to English. What a great feature, especially for Google+ since many users speak different languages. I will be more open from now on about circling people who do not post in English or Spanish.

"I would swallow my pride,
I would choke on the rinds,
But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside,
Swallow my doubt,
Turn it inside out,
Find nothing but faith in nothing.
Want to put my tender heart in a blender,
Watch it spin 'round into a beautiful oblivion.
Rendezvous, then I'm through with you".

"I'm melting,
In your eyes.
I lost my place,
Could stay a while,
And I'm melting.
In your eyes,
Like my first time,
That I caught fire.
Just stay with me,
Lay with me."

Two different generes of music, two different lyrical approaches, one common theme.

Law Abiding Citizen is by no means a work of art. However, it is a very engaging movie which easily catches your attention, takes you in for an exciting ride, and clearly entertains you. The plot may be a bit predictable and unbelievable at times, though not that often, and the acting may not be the best, the mayor of the city turns in a glaringly bad performance, but the film makes up for it with bloody violence and an absorbing plot which keeps you glued to your seat. Though the ending was a bit disappointing, it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the movie, Law Abiding Citizen is still worth a watch if you enjoy action packed and violent films.

SF Trip-Food Reviews

During my trip to the San Francisco Bay Area I had the previlage to eat at some great, and some not so great restaurants. Here are my thoughts on a couple of those establishments.

My Big Fat Greek Restaurant (Tucson, Arizona)
Greek food, from a chain restaurant, at its finest. I have eaten at this wonderful chain before, and the food is always as delicious at the first time you try it. I had a gyro sandwich which tasted magnificent. Also, the yogurt sauce it comes with is to die for. The only disappointment were the fries that the sandwich came with, since they were rather bland because they were missing the feta cheese they are regularly laced with.

Italian Restaurant in Little Italy (San Francisco, California)
Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of this quaint little restaurant. As we entered the establishment I felt as if it might be a tourist trap, a restaurant with bad food at very expensive prices, however, I was thankfully very wrong. The place was completely empty when we ordered, but by the time we left it was packed (they had just opened). I originally ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, but at the waiter's suggestion I had the lasagna instead. The appetizer bread was brought out first, and at first taste it seemed to be a bit too hard. However, once you got to the soft and chewy center of the bread you could thoroughly enjoy its tastiness. When my lasagna came it out it looked, well quite honestly, not good at all. However, the second my taste buds came in contact with the lasagna I was in bliss. It was a delicious meal, easily the best lasagna I have had in years.

Tian Sing (Downtown San Francisco, California)
My only bad experience from the entire trip came from this restaurant. First, let me start with the good. The menu included a great selection of entrees, with both "Americanized" Chinese plates and real Chinese meals. The food was good, very good in fact, but not great and not amazing, just good. Also, the price was reasonable, at least reasonable for a dine-in Chinese restaurant in downtown San Francisco near Union Square. The problem came from us being charged a mandatory gratuity fee, when there were only 4 of us at the table, and more importantly when our service was quite frankly horrible. When we entered the restaurant we were seated right away and offered appetizers from a cart, but it took them more than 15 minutes to take our dinner order. The restaurant was full, but not packed enough to warrant a 15 minute wait for our order to be taken. The food also took an exaggerated amount of time to come out. The worst part of the service though was that our waitress did not once check up on us to see how we were doing. We actually only saw her 4 times the entire meal. We saw her when she took our order, when she delivered our order, when she came to our table to remove an extra rice bowl she placed, and when we waved her down to ask her for water. When she delivered our meals to our table she brought an extra rice bowl. Around 3 minutes later she came back to our table, removed the extra rice bowl and did not say one word to us. She also never brought us the water that we requested, after attempting to call her to the table for several minutes. All in all the service was horrible and did not warrant a mandatory gratuity fee.
Side note: We were charged $3.75 for each tea cup we received, but were only given a tiny tea kettle to fill those cups with, and the kettle was never refilled. Not a big gripe, but it was still annoying nonetheless.

Extra Review
I also had a hot dog from a street vendor in downtown San Francisco. It was great. A New York style sized hot dog with their special red onion sauce, cheese, and ketchup, at half the price I would have paid in New York.

[Included photos of the lasagna and bread from the Italian Restaurant in Little Italy as well as the hot dog I ate from downtown San Francisco]___

A drive-by shooting just occurred in El Paso, Texas near the Cincinnati bar district. What a horrible tragedy. The police are currently searching for the suspect around the nearby area. Society as a whole keeps disappointing me everyday.

I've been away from Google+ for a couple of days, though I've used the mobile app, and have come back to find that G+ has implemented a couple of small updates. It's great to see how Google+ seems to always be evolving. Loving the collapsed comments, it shows that Google has really been listening to its users.

Blister In The Sun by the Violent Femmes is such an amazing song. I first heard it when I saw the movie Grosse Pointe Blank with John Cusack, which is a great film where Cusack plays an assassin. If you've never heard the song be sure to check it out, and if you already know it hear it again and get ready to dance.

Apparently Christopher Lloyd wrote a couple of episodes of Wings. As if the man has already not done enough for us by giving amazing performances as Doc Brown and Uncle Fester.

Side Note: He also gave a great weekly performance on the TV show Deadly Games. Not sure anyone remembers that though.

Another side note: Christopher Lloyd is Sam Lloyd's uncle, the actor who plays Ted, the lawyer on Scrubs.

There is not much of The Red Hot Chili Peppers' music on Spotify and apparently they just got rid of much of The White Stripes' music also. I love Spotify, but they are missing some essential artists from their catalog.

Why can't there be a superior music service with no downfalls? I gave Grooveshark a try, but I was very disappointed with their site's interface design.

I'm about to try some generated playlists from http://sharemyplaylists.com/playlist-generator to see if they can lift my spirits in regards to Spotify. Thanks to +Jason Perdue for the playlist generator link.

I highly recommend keeping up with the latest articles from A List Apart for anyone that is interested in Web Creation in anyway, be it designers, developers, or any other web specialists.

A List Apart is by far one of the greatest sites on the web for advice on web standards and procedures.

Is anyone aware of which graphic novel Jen Barber from "The IT Crowd" is reading in the beginning episodes of season 2? It seem like it could be a Love and Rockets book, but I have a feeling I might be wrong about that one.

Also, props to "The IT Crowd" for having an O'Reilly poster in the IT department.

Wishing Google+ would show the number of notifications one has in the browser's tab, similar to how FB, Twitter, and Tumblr have it set up. That way when I'm not on the Google+ tab, I can be aware when a notification comes in.
