*Why Complicate a Simple Thing*? 

I found this beautiful stone while walking on the beach near my home. It was there, standing itself apart from the norm of all the others around it, bringing beauty to an otherwise bland shore. 

Looking at this photo this morning got me thinking of how most of us are quick to judge people based on their looks; be it the clothes they are wearing, the colour of their skin, their accent, their manners and so on... It’s not easy not to pass judgment on others even if it is only a thought.  

That’s something we should strive to eradicate completely… all the time and every day we should make an effort to accept and appreciate difference. Why complicate a simple thing when ultimately we all want the same things?

Hope you're all having a great Friday and wonderful year so far.  :)  

I'm sharing today my selection for the #plusonecollection2012 . It wasn't an easy pick but ultimately I think this photo is the one that spoke to me the most for everything that it represents. The fact that it was dedicated to my dearest friend and kindred spirit +Lee Daniels, me noticing the sakura flowers for the first time in over a decade and the realization of where I wanted to go while remaining focused on the road immediately ahead... 

The year that has passed was a challenging one, to me and so many others. I believe that we're all going through these obstacles so that we can see things clearly and grow to achieve better things. 

Let's make a difference and with small gestures let's change the world!

Exactly one year to this date I was flying high… Memories of a recurring dream from my childhood filled my mind. The grass was greener and my spirit soared higher and higher with each passing day that brought me closer to my dream trip. The people around me, nature itself, the whole world seemed brighter and lighter. The prospect of things to come was a beautiful one…

The trip came and went in a blink of an eye… Along the way there were some minor hiccups but I also found answers to questions I didn’t even know I had left unanswered through the years; suddenly all seemed worthwhile. It was the end of January 2012 and I was so happy to share this newfound knowledge with many of my friends.

The Things I Have Seen...

Made me question: are we too blind to see? ... 

A bird flew into a window, banging hard against it while several people walked by and did nothing… 

A man in a wheelchair asking passersby to assist in opening and holding a door while no one bothered to stop… 

An elderly woman carrying a huge bag down the stairs and again, everyone too oblivious to offer help...

Then I saw a homeless man watch a squirrel take away a piece of his bread… For a moment he stood there and I continued to observe his reaction, feeling tense with his stillness as the seconds passed by… Suddenly he smiled and let out a “hey there, buddy – are you hungry?” while giving away another piece of his bread. 

The whole world has been made again.  ♥

*It’s a Magical World*

On my short walk from the spot where I lock my bike to the office I noticed many sparrows enjoying a feast. Someone had left them lots of grains and their chirping and movement exuded so much happiness... I was five minutes late and rushed by the scene when suddenly something clicked and I decided to make a turn and sit by them. I sat down and as my breathing slowed I started to notice all the small details around me... The gratification of that moment is carrying over throughout the day.

With the advancement of technology one would expect that our daily lives would slow down and we would have more time for the simple things. The opposite seems to be happening and I find it bothersome how much time we are constantly spending trying to get more things done. Never Alone,

Sometimes life brings us to a crossroad where all directions seem to lead us towards sadness. No matter which direction we face the common ground between the roads presented to us is of bleakness.

The combined strength of heart and mind doesn’t seem to suffice… Standing still doesn’t suffice… Moving, whichever way, feels wrong… What is left? What to do?

Unsure of the answer we close our eyes… and just like that we are floating like leaves through the brisk air of fall. Drifting away from things, drifting away from the troubles in our lives. 

Suddenly; we open our eyes and realize that throughout this journey we were never alone…  we never are... Never doubt that.

*Summertime Sadness* 

One of my favourite pastimes as a child was to swing higher & higher. I’d close my eyes at the bottom and open them when at the top, giving me the feeling that I was flying The dream of flying followed me through most of my childhood (and I’d say that it still is with me) and one time it almost all ended tragically when I had the brilliant idea of wrapping bed sheets around my neck and hopped onto my window; my mother caught me right on time...  :D

This week I was reminded of how frail life is and how fast our passage in this world truly is. It is inevitable that when things go up they will eventually come down. Yet I refuse to allow this knowledge to keep me down as I know that one day, when I suddenly open my eyes again, I’ll have reached new heights.

It was April of 2012… there & then I noticed for the first time the Sakura tree blossom. So much was uncertain at that point in my life and different challenges were being presented to me. Time has passed, the challenges remain but the difference is that the path is now clear. I envision the destination while remaining focused on the path immediately ahead of me. 

I shared three photos of the sakura flower and kept this one until now. It’s my favourite and I share it while saying goodbye to season’s end…

Thievius is back!!! 

Actually the little monster never left and because of him I had to endure many sleepless nights since I couldn’t keep the windows open any longer. 

Ever since the first break in a few weeks ago, he’s been seen surrounding the house. I caught him crossing the street, walking around the courtyard, under a car… It seems that everywhere I go he’s there! 

As a protective father that I am to Mishka, I tried to reason and talk Coco to understand she wasn’t interested. I also explained that it wouldn’t be by breaking in, eating her food, making a mess of the house, that he would find the way to her heart. He’s got a temper that one, I tell you!  :D  Immediately after I finished saying these words he changed his cute behaviour and this photo if proof of the real him (see +Sharon Jeannette ? Not as cute and innocent as youthought, uh?)

Happy Friday everyone! 

The mind is a beautiful thing, isn't it? I woke up this morning feeling agitated. The agitation turned into exhaustion, that turned into being hyper and finally peacefulness. 

There was a strong and cool headwind on my bike ride to work this morning. It made me realize that summer soon will be over... Suddenly while riding past the only church I visit here in Toronto a song came to mind and with it the explanation for so many strong feelings this morning... 

I thought of our +Lee Daniels and remembered that it's been a while since I last publicly shared some love and happy thoughts for her.  

This photo, despite its dark tones, seemed a good fit for its cheerful and hopeful lights that seem to shine from above. Lee, may these lights continue to give you strength and surround you with love. ♥

Wanted: Thievius Raccoonus a.k.a "Coco Le Beau"
   
I know that I posted something two days ago saying that I wasn’t sure when and if I would come back to G+... What I meant was in a full time capacity as the earlier days of G+ from last year. I'll post and mostly run until things settle down in my life.

Anyway, I had to come back today to share a mug shot of this little guy. He’s responsible for a series of break in and enters in my neighbourhood and seems to have acquired a taste for Nespresso capsules… -_-   Two weeks ago he left a mess in my house, only making the mistake of leaving his paw prints in the screen window (along with teeth marks all over, broken vases, a bent screen window...)

Anyway, two days after the incident I was able to confront him (refer to attached picture) and was greeted with utter denial...He smart... more »

As far as my memory goes I remember seeing “things”: in every face I crossed paths with, in each tree at dusk, in all the stars in the sky.  With eyes wide open in the brightest of days and with eyes shut tight in the darkest of nights: “they” were always there. 

So much time has passed that I forgot that I continue to see these “things” or rather that "they" have never left me and like so much around us all that was needed was for me to slow down… to take a deep breath and remember to appreciate it.

If you are curious about these “things” that I speak of, they are small transparent shapes that appear to float in front of my eyes, like a three dimensional image. They are there, no matter what I do: if I have my eyes open or not, if I wear sunglasses, if I’m underwater... Now, I’ve discussed this with many people duringmy lifetime and since more »

Super Moon of 2011… It was the sharing of a photo of this beautiful moment that got me into G+. So much happened last year and with the wonderful moments came the inevitable downfalls… Still 2011 was a very good year and one that I have many fond memories. 

Fast forward to the Super Moon of 2012 and when I look at this photo now everything seems like a blur. I have been living my days without knowledge of time, despite the fact that I’m surrounded by clocks, watches, deadlines and people reminding me what day of the month it is… 

There’s so much happening right now that I sometimes question what reality is and what my imagination is…  I wake up at hours that I should have been sleeping and I sleep during hours that I should be awake; or should I? *To Put Things into Perspective*

This morning, while watching my favourite show, the above thought came to my mind… 

It is easy to forget about others and the challenges they might be facing whenever we get caught up in our own challenges. Is it selfishness? Is it survival and self-preservation? Or is all part of the growing process?... 

Life this year has been far from what I had expected and anticipated it to be; my illness that started in late February was just the beginning of many more challenges and much more difficult times ahead. It hasn’t been a good year by any standards but here and there I’m reminded that things could be much worse (and I feel blessed and thankful for that!).

Inevitably there is *always* someone, somewhere who is having a tougher time; someone is in need of a smile, a hug, a thank you and words of kindness…Share it ... more »

It was an interesting post about a pigeon stalker that gave me an idea of what to expect (along with said profile picture). My first thoughts weren’t wrong and ever since we’ve become good friends.

Where has time gone? Fortunately, the feeling that time is vanishing in thin air brought me to another Friday on yet another eventful week... 

How much things have changed since this photo was taken back in January. It's no wisdom and should come as no surprise, but I still find myself amazed on how much life can challenge and test us when we least expect... Ménière's disease (so this is it: a fancy name for a fancy disease!) :D

Not exactly the news I was expecting and hoping for but certainly much better than the “what could have been”. 

When discussing the disease with the ENT and reading lots about it later on, I realized that the diagnosis was spot on and that all the what ifs scenarios mattered less than ever before. Apparently the causes are unknown and the cure is unknown (or simply put: there’s no “cure”). But much like the causes and cure (or lack of), the frequency of the disease happening is also unknown: some people will experience it once in their lifetime, others will have it several times a year and others will be caught in between. Looking at this photo made me realize once again how brief our passage is in this world and in this lifetime… So much has happened since this photo was taken and despite the feeling that it was just yesterday my body and mind know better. 

As some of you have noticed I’ve been away from G+ for some time; it wasn’t planned and I certainly didn’t intend it to be that way. It simply happened.

My life has been turned upside down since the tests I did a couple of weeks ago. While not all symptoms came back, the ones that did were enough to bring me to a halt. Despite my best efforts to continue doing everything as before it was inevitable that something would had to give; this something was my time here and on the internet in general. Between the dizziness, the ear and eye pain, the headaches, looking at a computer, tablet or even phone became anunnecessa... more »

I'm off this afternoon to the hospital to get more tests in the continuous drama to attempt and discover what's wrong with me. While some of you might be thinking that I'm a lost cause (rightly so, I might add!) :D I have to do these tests in hopes to finally get some answers and peace of mind.

I'll probably be offline starting this afternoon and hope to be back on Friday.

I slept well last night... I usually don't remember my dreams and this night was no exception. But I know that they were good as I woke up feeling a sense of calm and happiness that I haven't felt in a long time.

It was 5.30 when I got up and without any hesitation I knew I needed to take my camera and walk down to the lake. It didn't take me long to understand why I was there: you were there, Lee. I saw you and saw everyone else who loves you and is alongside you on this journey.

Once again you were showing us the way but this time around, we were all there: surrounding and nurturing you with our thoughts, our energy, our prayers, our love and our light.

I love you... We love you

Thank you so much everyone for the support and the wonderful contributions to +CATURDAY!

I'll be calling it a day but before doing so I wanted to share some posts that caught my attention. Good morning Everyone and happy CATURDAY!
I'm off to a slow start and I blame it on a few things:

It's CATURDAY which demands laziness!
I'm not getting many notifications! ("thanks" G+!)
I'm rusty after a long nap hiatus due to my illness.
