G+ still gives us the option of receiving notifications every time someone in a circle posts something.
Do you have any circles set to notify?

Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, occurs when the normal cells lining arterial walls is transformed into a sort of scar tissue which is less flexible and rougher that the normal lining. This creates high blood pressure and facilitates the build up of dangerous plaques made up of plasma and cholesterol. This change from nice flexible endothelial type cells to the more rigid mesenchymal type cells is a result of an inflammatory response caused by hyperglycemia (too much glucose), smoking, and other factors. Scientists at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute at Lake Nona have discovered that a protein called DKK1 may be responsible for the response that converts the good elastic endothelial cells into the rigid mesenchymal cells within the artery walls. Regulation of DKK1 may prevent or significantly decrease this process and help keep arteries healthy.
