NEW PROJECT I'M DOING FOR THE ZOO

This is hopefully the first of the Friday uploads. These will be little shorts of some of the animals you can't see on display and little snippets of behind the scenes or up close from Newquay Zoo.

These are Gongylus gongylodes, Violin Mantis.
They feed on insects, fruit flies and then later locust, crickets, moths.
Its comes from southern India and Sri Lanka.
The males are capable of flight.

i filmed some of the slugs having a threesome in my local creepy crawly tank. they do this odd penis fighting thing and you can see the waves in their foot, it's very cool, have a look.

quick video put together to look at the shed skin and the freshly moulted chilean rose tarantula (Grammostola rosea) the video isn't very long so i couldn't put much information on it but i will make a better tarantula video with proper information on it another day ^_^

hi there ^_^ i have a steatoda nobilis or false widow that lives in my kitchen. i think that is what it is? my spider id is hit and miss, i'm good at the obvious ones, if anyone has a definitive identification it would be appreciated. i gave it a meal worm so i could film it, i live in mid cornwall by the coast, it's just under 2cm

i just got a gopro!!!! so had to do some filming:

filmed simultaneously with:
nikon d7000 with a 50mm lens
canon legria hf r17
go pro hero classic

edited together with some epic music for effect ^_^

i don't usually film the animals eating, but it is very interesting to watch how they 'walk' along the preys body and how they move to help it go down.

my male royal python (named taxidermy) ncf he's 10 years old i've had him since he was a worm. he has had problems shedding this time (despite nothing changing in his enclosure for the last 10 years) but his head had cleared so i thought i'd feed him so i can give him a soak in a warm bath tomorrow see if that helps.

anyway i hope you find this funny (the EPIC!) and educational if you would like to know more on how snakes feed.

I get the internet back in less than a week! More than one moth without it has been awfull. I'd forgotten how much I relied on it. You tube. Here. Face book. I use it to watch television, read journals for assignments or books for fun, use pictures for painting, to show my videos and photos, to look at what's going on in the world and catch up with other peoples work, to chat to friends, and look at my timetables and diary, e-mails from tutors and revision notes. It'll all be back soon!!!!! Yay!!!!!! Woo!!!!!!

strange, you can almost see the sunset in the ring... considering it was taken on my kitchen table after dark... i collected the bits from the beach whilst walking the dog earlier. i didn't find the ring on the beach.
