It's been ages since I posted any new images on Google+, mainly due to the fact that I have been flat out busy working on side projects. I'm going to find the time to share some of my recent photos with you guys. Here's one taken on a very surreal evening on the Coffs Coast, NSW Australia. The storm front was moving in from the east towards the coastline, just in time for some twilight magic.

Disclaimer: This is a composite image of 2 manually blended exposures in Photoshop CS6. The base exposure for the foreground, clouds and overall scene was taken just on dusk as the magenta hues and blues appeared. I shot this foreground exposure earlier to capture enough detail in the moving water and to freeze the clouds. Roughly half hour after I shot the second exposure for the stars. There were stars starting to appear when the first exposure was taken, but there weren't as many as I... more »

More kelp from my last snorkel in the ocean before the floods ruined the water and made it all murky and yuck! I look forward to getting back out in the ocean with the new fisheye and dome port while the water is still warm.

Please feel free to share this image, I really do appreciate your feedback and support. Thanks everyone!

1/1/2013 - My first seascape photo outing in forever, it's been well over 4 months since I took any coastal photos. It sure as hell felt great to get back out there doing what I first fell in love with when I picked up the camera.

'Nature's Essence'
Dorrigo World Heritage National Park - New South Wales, Australia.

Magnificent tall trees line the entire walk through Dorrigo National Park, while lush green tree ferns fill the forest floor. This is another rainforest wonder that I discovered along my journey through the park. To capture the true essence of this scene I was out walking in the intermittent rain and mist, taking my chances when it eased before each heavy downpour started again. It's all just a matter of getting out there amongst the wilderness, and feeling the earth beneath your feet, this is when the artist herself, Mother Nature creates her most beautiful and raw moments.

Natural Bridge - Springbrook National Park, Queensland Australia.

First image for 2013 taken on the the 1st of January. For the past couple years I have made this location a new year ritual to shoot, mainly due to the fact that I like to avoid the crazy festive season motorway back from Queensland into New South Wales. This way takes me through Numinbah Valley past Springbrook National Park, and we always stop off at Natural Bridge to cool off and rejuvenate in the forest. It's so beautiful to hear the calls of paradise riflebirds, green catbirds and wompoo fruit-doves after being enveloped by the concrete jungle in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

So far it is definitely my all time favourite waterfall I have visited in Australia. It's just a shame it happens to be thousands of tourists stop off as well, then again I'm a tourist in Queensland too.

Sunday 9-12-2012 I spent exploring a new location which I found a few months ago whilst driving the countryside west of Coffs Harbour, NSW Australia. With me was my good friend +tony allison and partner Jessica, who both collaborated with me to create this image. The use of flashlights has allowed us to creatively illuminate the house from various angles to bring the dark and eerie homestead back to life. Surprisingly the place has a pleasant energy and it felt like 'home sweet home' in a way. I look forward to visiting again in the near future to explore it some more.

Please feel free to share this post. I appreciate your feedback and kind support.

2:00am, and I am sitting here awake after a few drinks, processing some of the photos I took from earlier this evening. I found this abandoned old farm house only a short drive from home a few months ago and since that day have had a strong allurement to scope it out with my camera. The mixture of chemistry from clouds, thunder and the rundown shack was the perfect implement to create this image.

Location unknown until I do some research.. Strange thing is there were no fixtures, plumbing or any power, not even steps to get onto the front porch. This makes me think that maybe it wasn't intended to be a home, but I am unsure because of the layout. Interesting old building and I plan on going back again to see what else I can discover.

Sunrise from Wright's Lookout - New England National Park, NSW Australia.

The precipitous cliffs of the plateau edge are the result of at least five basalt lava flows from the Ebor volcano forming a rim over 300 metres thick. Active until about 18 million years ago this massive volcano was centred around The Crescent, a semi-circular ridge in the Bellinger Valley.

Subsequent erosion has created the dramatic profile of the escarpment which is visible today. Below the volcanic rocks lie ancient folded sedimentary rocks, almost 500 million years old, which have been carved into a myriad of virtually inaccessible peaks and ridges and are now densely forested.

A Currawong drops in for breakfast as we pack up our campsite in the lush New England National Park. I knew he would be back for the noodles I left him on the tree branch despite how soggy they were left out in the rain. They're very eager creatures, cannibal even. They are species of medium-sized passerine birds belonging to the genus Strepera in the family Cracticidae native to Australasia.

The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity, some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.

Hi guys, thank god it's Friday and another week is almost behind us. Just before I leave for another week I thought I'd share my Facebook profile for anyone who wants to follow my photography there. I'll admit the majority if my spare time is spent networking on Facebook. Most images I do eventually get around to sharing here, but sometimes I forget to post them with you guys. So if you are on Facebook and would like to stay up to date with my work on a regular basis you can jump on over to my page and hit the 'LIKE' button https://www.facebook.com/pages/Drew-Hopper-Photography/162875140443472?ref=hl

New light painting image to add to the series of tunnel photos I have been working on for the past 6 months. I call this image 'Inner Light'. Connecting with your inner light is a call to action to wake up to your full potential; to take time out from the everyday activities of life and look within to renew the spirit. There is a light that shines within each of us. A light that connects with with our true self, our true spirit within. There is a light which cannot ever be extinguished. It is inside of you. It is you. Let your light so shine upon the world that the world will know Who You Really Are – and its people will know why they really are as well, through the light of your example.

Something a bit different from my usual landscapes, thought I'd experiment with some tilt shift photography. Tilt–shift photography is the use of camera movements on small and medium format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. Sometimes the term is used when the shallow depth of field is simulated with digital post-processing; the name may derive from the tilt–shift lens normally required when the effect is produced optically. This effect has been created in the digital darkroom as I do not own a tilt shift lens.

Epic electrical storm envelops the Blue Mountains behind the mighty Three Sisters, NSW Australia.
The Three Sisters is the Blue Mountains’ most spectacular landmark. Located at Echo Point Katoomba, around 2.5 kilometres from the Great Western Highway, this iconic visitor attraction is experienced by millions of people each year.
The Three Sisters is essentially an unusual rock formation representing three sisters who according to Aboriginal legend were turned to stone.

Sydney Harbour Bridge from Kirribilli at dusk - NSW, Australia.

We are back from our wonderful getaway to Sydney and the Blue Mountains. It was a very successful trip both romantically and photographically. I will be sharing my images over the next couple of weeks.

The crazy epic storm that enveloped and infuriated the Coffs Coast just before sunset yesterday. I watched this cell slowly work it's way over the coastline, the thunder rumbling and lightning flashes to the west. Great way to kick start the week.

One of my all time favourite spots to visit when in Queensland is Natural Arch in the beautiful Springbrook National Park, Australia. I have been here multiple times with and without my camera. My first time with the camera I captured one of my favourite Limited Edition photographs which most of you would be familiar with if you've been following my work for the past 4 years. This is a similar composition of the same waterfall, but taken a year or so apart from the other shot.

Here's an old image taken on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. The city is Surfers Paradise, and this was captured just on twilight as the city lights started to come alive. The moon was just a reward for being there at the right time, right place kind of dealio.
