What you'll see if you access LittleBigFund.org on mobile
We know that our site doesn't play nicely with anything that can fit in your pocket. It was a matter of limited resources and limited time, but we know that a mobile site is extremely important to you all. While we have plans to optimize for mobile, it's not going to happen next month.
For now we've slapped this up there if you're viewing us from a mobile device. We're listening to your feedback and will continue to update you on the progress we're making - which we'll start making when we're not so strapped ;)

Confession: I love Die Antwoord ever since I Fink U Freeky. Their latest simple Cookie Thumper does not disappoint while bringing the weirdness you've come to expect from them. There's no Ninja to speak of here which is a little strange (I kept waiting for him to come in and break it down), but Yolandi holds her own in a super sexual rendition of the class story of a drug-addicted orphan just trying to find....love?

Had to stop to appreciate this scene
I just went on a run and, after playing The Last of Us, I'm especially drawn to slightly dystopian backdrops with a splash of patriotism. I was feeling very aware of myself on my run and seeing the flag blowing in front of the sun with San Francisco's infamous fog in the background made me stop dead in my tracks. I stood there for a bit to appreciate the view before carrying on. The streets were empty and it was fantastic to take a second to reflect on my life, my relationships, The LittleBigFund, and just being in a city for over a year.
They saw runs clear your head. I agree.

Is The Last of Us the best game of this console generation?
I've played a lot of games this generation. Everything from action-packed first person shooters to trivia games to sci-fi RPG's to Japanese RPG's to adventure - you get the idea. Well. Last night I finished The Last of Us. Not only have I never felt so afraid in a game this generation, but I didn't really feel like I was playing a game at all. With incredible graphics, grisly violence, on-point voice acting, and subtle facial expressions, The Last of Us created a dystopian future that I felt a part of. With nature having reclaimed the society over the course of 20 years after a fungal outbreak that turned humanity into hosts of a violent virus, the game world looks and feels as desolate as your situation.

Before I leave for work, I check my work email before checking my personal email.” Neola Young, the director of the Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Resource Center (SMYRC), a program at Portland’s Q Center wakes up that way every day. On her bike ride to work she thinks about a conversation she had with a young person the day before, how much glitter to get for SMYRC’s next drag night, and whether or not she’s doing enough. When she arrives her day is frantic. Understaffed but in high demand, SMYRC has its hands full. When Derek met David, “It was a given,” that they would get married, according to Derek. Celebrating my one year at UserVoice!
A year ago today I started my life in San Francisco as a community manager. Working at UserVoice this long has been a blast and has taught me a lot about what it's like to work in tech startup land. The team is fantastic and, though I've seen the downs that come with the ups, I've been happy to see UserVoice grow over the last year. It's rewarding to be involved with that growth and I'm ever appreciative that they let me work on work on my stuff like LittleBigFund and talking with you guys!

In the effort of transparency it is my pleasure to share with you our launch report. Watching the launch of The LittleBigFund was a strange situation. I had done everything I could to engage people and the moment I posted the launch announcement it was out of my hands. I watched hard work pay off as shares and +1's climbed higher and higher while donations rolled in. As we spend the rest of the month diving deep into the three organizations whose stories we told, it's clear to me that we have something extremely special that needs your commitment.

So much tech happened today!
Dang. I've been in overdrive all day trying to keep up with Sony, Apple and Microsoft. Three huge players in the tech industry had three huge shows today and I wanted to let you guys know what I thought of each. Let me preface by saying that I own products from all three companies. No biases here. So. Here we go:
Sony
Sony absolutely killed it today. They are positioning themselves well. Not only did they talk about the Vita, but they kicked Microsoft in the balls with their used game policy. I definitely wasn't expecting them to directly address used games and always on, but oh...they did. And they made every gamer in the world happier. They didn't hold back at all when it came to games either. At a full $100 cheaper with more powerful hardware, Sony wins the day today in my opinion. I'm not super crazy about the hardware... more »

As you guys know, the launch of The LittleBigFund was delayed by one week due to tornadoes. I gave you all a brief run down, but felt the need to tell the whole story. Delays can kill momentum, make people trust you less and show people that your product isn't ready for prime time. Luckily we were able to dodge all of that through some smart community management. We positioned our launch to rely on you guys, not media or marketing. It worked.

With LittleBigFund delayed, I'm taking a sanity break
Last night was extremely stressful for my entire team. There was so much pressure, so much excitement, and we were trying to frantically figure out how we could still launch. The decision to delay took a lot out of us, especially since the delay was caused because of tornados of all things. We were feeling pretty helpless last night.
Maybe that's why I decided to spend the day playing Roller Coaster Tycoon! I have complete control over everything again! Mwahaha! But in all seriousness, I'm playing videogames, +Alexander Parker is spending the day at the park, and +Paul Spoerry is getting everything back together after the storms. LittleBigFund launch delayed due to storms over St. Louis
Not the situation we want to be in, but the right thing to do.
This isn't the update I wanted to give you guys. Last night, we decided to delay our launch. Our Lead Developer +Paul Spoerry lives in the Saint Louis area where tornados touched down last night. One of those tornados hit the home of one of his family members. Luckily everyone is okay, but there was damage. After the storm, Paul met with Alex and I to have a long chat about what to do next. We made concessions left and right, but ultimately it came down to the fact that we needed Paul on-call for launch if we were going to do it and that a sloppy, half-complete launch is worse than waiting a few days.
The decision was made: Paul had to take care of himself and his family first and foremost.

Ha! I have the greatest parents ever. Not only did they remember that LBF starts taking donations tomorrow (probably because I told them to email everyone they know & they've loaned me lots of money), but they also sent me this celebration package! Inside were party favors, a card, confetti, and brownies because I fucking love brownies. Oh, and the whole bottom was lined with plastic coins! #Cute

June's theme is LGBT
Today we're happy to announce 3 days before our launch, the 3 nonprofit organizations that we'll be featuring for June. We've worked all three organizations to tell their story and figure out exactly what makes them so special. We vetted them from over 80 nominations and applications and can assure you that each is deserving. On top of that, the organizations we worked with were seeded from your suggestions (so thanks!). Their stories will be available on our website on June 1st.
When we launch Saturday, you'll donate a small amount to form a fund and then vote for which organization's story resonated the most with you. The organization with the most votes receives the fund.

Announcing our partnership with photographer +Lotus Carroll!
The LittleBigFund is extremely visual. Our site is beautiful, all of our posts include images, our nonprofit stories are heavily supplemented by photos - and to be able to be as image-heavy as we need to be, we were going to need to work with an amazing photographer to license their photos.
Today we're extremely happy to announce that we've reached a deal with +Lotus Carroll to use her photos in our posts. Over the course of the next three months the images you see will exclusively come from either our designer +Alexander Parker, the nonprofits we help, or from Lotus' collection. She's an exceptionally talented photographer with a heart of gold and we are so grateful for how lucky we are to work with her.

I feel everything all at once
I never imagined myself in this position. +The LittleBigFund starts taking donations on Saturday and I can't believe that this is all happening so suddenly. Less than a year out of college I've started a company on a different coast and it's all because of my experience on Google+? Crazy talk. My work is frantic, yet slow moving. I'm stressed, but careful. My mind races, but pauses when it can't race any more.

So I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4. Here's what I think of it:
Basically I love it.... a lot. And I wasn't expecting to. When my RAZR MAXX crapped out on me I was in a weird position. Do I wait for the rumored new phones? Do I wait for the HTC ONE to come out on Verizon? To answer these questions I headed down to the Verizon store to play with some of their phones and had already decided that if I was going to get a phone it was going to be the DNA or the S4. The DNA was meh so, not being one who can wait, I purchased the S4 sort of on a whim. Here's what I think of it:
Hardware
First off, dat screen. Dat sexy, sexy screen. It's bright, extremely crisp, and has vibrant colors. It doesn't have a weird super blue or yellow hue and is probably one of the most beautiful screens I've ever seen on a phone. Next awesome thing is the camera. WOAH. Yes... more »

Boy Scouts vote to remove gay ban

In a move that surprises many, the Boy Scouts of America voted today to allow gay scouts into their ranks upholding the values the teach about bravery, honesty, and citizenship. This is a classic case of good people demanding equality and showing that they won't stand behind a discriminatory organization. If you have every posted, commented, supported, +1'ed, or otherwise made your stance clear then you can attribute part this monumental step forward to your inability to settle for unequal policies.
There is sure to be controversy down the road, but take this moment to appreciate just how far we've come and how important equal treatment of sexual minorities is in America. We're moving so fast and it's so incredible.

Say hello to the XBOX ONE
Looks like Microsoft wanted to get the jump on Sony - the first thing they showed was the box. I mean, and then they showed me how I could watch movies on it instead of focusing on the hardware. But then they started talking about the hardware. But then they showed me more voice commands. Then back to hardware specs....then to SmartGlass...
It's a little bit of a "I WANT TO BE EVERYTHING!" device and it doesn't appear completely clear that Microsoft knows where to focus its energy. That being said, the XBOX ONE is certainly pretty and looks powerful.
I guess we call the first #Xbox the XBOX OLD now? ::P

Sleepy San Francisco...
Decided to catch on some easy tasks tonight instead of trying to do anything that involved too much "think." Worked my butt off this weekend and I know when to take a break now to be productive later. Even though I may have an hour long talk to prepare and the launch of +The LittleBigFund coming up, this time is important.
So I'm going to look at this photo for a little bit and collect my thoughts. It's going to be great.

Marriage is just for procreation you say?
Don't worry guys - God's pretty crafty and will figure something out if he has to. Frankly it shocks me that people can't hear the absurdity of what they suggest. All it takes it looking at a situation from a new perspective to see that these one-line "God will..." quotes are pretty frickin' inclusive. While I'm sure some people will continue to think that marriage is only about procreation, I'm happy to see the definition of family evolving in the majority of people. Can't stop progress :)
