Come

March 2, 2001

She arrived, full of life, youth and enthusiasm. Sass and style. Yes, she was a true red. To watch her in the sun was to be mesmerized by her beauty and grace, the light gently glistening in her coat as she moved. She was a beautiful, strong, intelligent and loving. I thanked God for bringing her into my life.

Her road to me was a hard one. Left abandoned on the side of the road in a small town outside of Houston. Fate and my 34th birthday brought us together. From the moment I first saw her, I vowed to rescue her from the life she endured thus far and provide her with a purpose and the same love she offered me.

She would suffer no more.

She noticed everything, her eyes were always aware of her surroundings. She was strong yet gentle. She was full of love and faithfully devoted. We connected immediately, she was mine.... more »

This moved me:
Its not often these days that I find something that resonates so strongly with me that it has a profound effect causing retrospective thought.

This did....

I'm going to share it because its profound, its moving, its accurate and its a direction that I have been heading in on my own but now have a new sense of urgency.

Watch it....
Share it.....

Then do it.

Look Up

Waiting for the end
Something that everyone may not know about me is my love for music and the profound effect it has on me. When you look at my long post archive many will notice that the titles of what I write tend to be song titles. Thats usually because the song inspires me or has taken me back to a time or an event that causes me to ponder, re-live and then express (or write).

This song is no exception.

The lyrics speak to me.
About the past as well as the present.

The hardest part of ending is starting again

If I were to get a tattoo, I think it would be this phrase or simply the word "Unforgiven." But I will save that for another time and another story.

This is not the end, this is not the beginning
Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone and the violent... more »

The after Party at Pax-East, hosted by the Crystal Method
Taken at the Pax-East Party for Riot Games Players and Fans. The Crystal Method was our special guest. They played for a packed house. It was truly an amazing party! Scott Kirkland is seen here (Ken is out of frame for this shot).

Taken withe a D700, Hand held (Intentionally)... in fact all of the shots where to try and capture the action of the event. This is just a small sample of some of the shots I take for Riot. No, I dont shoot for Riot full time, I do something completely different. I volunteer to travel, meet our players, fans and Cosplayers. It's an absolute blast to meet everyone and to capture the events for Riot !!!

Next stop.... KOREA for LCS Semi and Finals !!!

As digital photographs become easier and easier to create, edit, and share, it’s also becoming easier to doubt the authenticity of photos. There have been quite a few stories in recent days of photojournalists, news organizations, and contest winners throwing their reputations away by using Photoshop to manipulate the truthfulness of photos

Visiting Maki
So today I was looking around, visiting some friends pages and landed on +Maki Silberberg page. There I noticed a shot she took from a nice little chapel in downtown Dallas, Texas.

This nice little place was designed by Phillip Johnson. The outside of the chapel is really Un-Inspiring. It looks like a torn toilet paper roll. However, on the simplistic inside there is some amazing stained glass.

This was my take on the famous little chapel.

Thanks Maki!

Close.... the hunt is on
So today, I ventured out into the dreaded jungle know as a "Dealership." despite packing a weapon and bad attitude, I was still accosted by the local tribesmen.

They were out for blood.

Fortunately my daughter and I made it  out alive. We did however have a second to get a picture with one of the locals before hacking our way out of the dealership.

I have always liked "Give me a TICKET Red"

Decisions... decisions :)

Friday the 13th and Baseball
For all of you LA Dodger Fans, I offer you a shot of Clayton Kershaw:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clayton_Kershaw

He threw a great game last night. We had AWESOME seats (4 rows from the field). So, equipped with my 400mm lens I managed to snag this shot.

I got a few others, but this was my shot for the night. I even got to catch a ball at the game. (that was cool. I have been to at least 100 pro games and never gotten a ball before).

So this is how I spent my Friday the 13th.... how about you..?

Dreaming
Many of my old followers know I am a muscle car guy. Prior to losing a TON of money in the real estate bust 7 years ago, I had two sports cars. In my efforts to recover from that bust and foot the bill for College for my son, I did the responsible thing, sold them and got me a KOmuter car :)

My 2003 Cobra SVT was a dream car. 650 hp, super charged v8, 3000 watts of Stereo and done up in "Give me a ticket red!" which it did plenty of times :)

Now, I am focused on my other dream car. A stingray. The 1973 Stingray is my favorite year.... up until this year. I have always wanted one and am now seriously looking at this baby. I just cant decide if I want white or yellow. (Im done with red)

:)

I hope to be able to get one. Im having a hard time finding what I want. this is what I m searching for.... maybe in electric yellow as well.... more »

So many here know I work at #riotgames . Everyday I have the esteemed pleasure of working with some of the most passionate, devoted and all around AWESOME peeps in the gaming business. I have to tell you.... I LOVE MY JOB.

At Riot we have several musicians and a composer. (Yes, a real composer). Interestingly, our composer is a Metal head. He and the team got together and created the fist real album from a fictitious Riot Band called "PentaKill".

If you are a metal guy, or just want to hear something completely different, check this out. The music, production quality and songs are truly amazing.

It's free (just like our game) and its on iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay and Spotify.

Curious question...????

Negative Views....
For awhile now, like my friend +Max Huijgen I have tracked and done some statistical math on how Google's G+ Operates.

Now... granted its been awhile since I was a "regular" on the site (its getting better) several things have changed. Since my last serious effort at providing daily content on Google they have graciously added "Views" to our profiles.

The thing that I have found odd as that while my follower number vary from day to day, the views number seems to go down daily..?

Being that Google stated:

The number equals the number of times your content has been seen by other people, including your photos, posts, and profile page.

If this is done like a regular web site the number should be relative to exposure and not based on active users. My first thought is that as people are "cleansed" or removed from G+ perhaps the view count is decremented..?

Does anyone know..?

Inquiring mind and all... its bugging me that there seems to be no direct correlation as to the drop. Sure they mention on their support page that the numbers aren't necessarily updated in real time (I get that) and there is some wiggle room in terms of accuracy... I guess I don't get the consistent drop. Perhaps its numerical retribution for being gone for so long :)

I also wonder if this number was calculated form the beginning or from when then implemented it..?

Please note... none of this really matters at all. Its a simple curiosity as to how this site works (something I have always done, and kept some interesting data on). I don't like operational anomalies in transactional systems (software dork in me) and tend to ask why

Beautiful Abstraction
Another shot I took this last month at the Arcadia Arboretum. This is a macro close up of flowers pedals as they intertwine with each other.

While I was out shooting, since I didn't have a tripod with me, I decided to embrace the gentle breeze and see what I could get + it was a recon trip to the arboretum to see what is there and what gear I would need to shoot next time I go.

Fun trip, and got some nice shots despite not being properly geared. These have a very "Water color" feel to them that I like a great deal. Normally, I would be all about the macro look and detail, but found that the softer side of flowers is fun to capture as well.

My friend +Garry McCarthy is quite a photographer. I learn a great deal from looking at his images and really enjoy his work.

Take a look at this amazing shot. If you dont have Gary in your circles, you should. His work never disappoints.

This is one of those shots I wish I had in my portfolio

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
The Milky Way and Mars over Delicate Arch.  This is a self-image from my recent trip to Utah with +Phillip Colla.  Phil keeps inviting me to join him on these trips, and I'm happy to tag along and learn some of his secrets to master photography; hence the title of this picture.  On this evening, we hiked up to Delicate Arch, Utah's most iconic sandstone arch, for sunset, then happily watched every other person depart shortly thereafter, leaving the entire place to just us, the stars and the local wildlife.  We stayed almost the entire night, which gave us plenty of time to play around with several compositions and different light-painting techniques before hiking out in the pre-dawn darkness in time to catch the sunrise at Broken Arch.___My friend +Garry McCarthy is quite a photographer. Iron Maiden
So... I posted in Dipro001's stream that I was an Iron Maiden Fan and that I was one of the official photographers for Maiden back during their Somewhere in Time tour. I shot seven locations for Stardate Productions back in the day. There was a doubter in the thread, nice dude, but kinda throwing caution to the wind. So, I thought I would set the record straight and share a few from the show. These are all of Bruce.

These images are almost 30 years old. The first show was in Sept 1986 near my birthday. What a present it was to get this gig.

Here are three shots of Bruce. Scans from some of my 8x10 archive prints. The gold on the bottom is exactly that, gold leaf embossed name and tour markers. I used to do this for portraits I shot and did this for all of my concert pictures.

Fun with Flowers
I recently went to the Arcadia Arboretum to shoot flowers. I enjoy taking pictures of flowers (I don't know why I don't do more of it?) Anyway, while out I decided to not pay the $50 fee for a tripod. It was windy so abstracts was going to be what I got (along with being able to recon the facility).

This was one of the images I captured.

Messages to me....
I saw this post and it resonated with me. Its something I learned in college (Minor in Psychology) that I have always found through experience to be true.

Positive notes of reinforcement effect the subconscious regardless of their origin. Much like inspirational quotes, surrounding yourself with reminders that "You" are a good person, or life, while at times hard is OK are a good thing.

Its much like looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking, "I look good today." That thought has the same mental benefit as hearing someone else say it. It boosts confidence, stimulates your brain and adds positive reinforcement.

I really liked this post and wanted to share it and thank +Dahn Yoga and +Kacie Quesenberry for the share and re-share.

But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm
And though the words sound steady something empty's within them

We say yeah with fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something that's invisible there
'Cause we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear
Until we get it, forget it, let it all disappear

Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strength to stand
This is not what I had planned
It's out of my control
Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts were spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It's hard to let you go

I know what it takes to move on
I know how it feels to lie
All I want to do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last
I wish it wasn't so

I know what it takes to move on
I know how it feels to lie
All I want to do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it's like moving on

And I don't even know what kind of things I said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So I'm picking up the pieces, now where to begin
The hardest part of ending is starting again

All I want to do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got
I'm holding on to what I haven't got
I'm holding on to what I haven't got

Thought of the day...

Beginning today,
treat everyone you meet as
if  they were going to be dead by midnight.

Extend to them all the care, kindness and
understanding you can muster, and do it
with no thought of any reward.

Your life will never be the same again.

We connected immediately, she was mine. Above all else she knew she was loved and eagerly gave back the same. Happiness is what she brought to my heart, security is what she brought to my family.

With a simple wave and a word, she was by my side.

Come...

And we would play...
Running and dancing about the lawn.
She would smile and turn her head sideways as she walked towards me. Grinning and wanting to play, reaching for me with her arms and pawing at me when she wanted more attention.

Come...

And with a pat on the ground, we would rest, close to one another, safe and sound.  She was always there for me when I needed her and I gave the same in return. She graciously guarded and protected my family. Many moments were spent talking and enjoying the time we had. While the conversations were somewhat one sided, she always seemed to know when I needed her, her attention or her nose in my face followed by a kiss.

Unconditional love.

Twelve years later,
While the love remained, her will was not the same. Her grace and passion now abated, her red now dull and dry.  The look in her eyes said it all to me and had for a while. The love was still there, her mind was still sharp, yet time had done its cruel deed and she had slowly fallen apart. It was her sad yet loving eyes that made me finally realize it was time.

Come....

I said, though her legs were now to weak. She tried so very hard but couldn't muster the strength. I bent over to collect her, cradling her in my arms. I carried her the final distance and now protected her from harm.

I carried her to the car and laid her gently down inside. Her personality perked up a bit as we took our final ride. Tired and broken, she was oblivious as to her fate. As I slowly carried her into the office, I questioned the decision I had to make.

I sat and held her, tears within my eyes as I loved on her until she went to sleep, weeping by her side. Just before she left me, I had one last thing to say... just a whisper in her ear.

Come....

Please come back to me,
Please don't leave me this way.
In my moment of tears she quietly passed away.

Just as she had always been there for me, I was there for her. As I had promised twelve years earlier, she suffered no more.

March 19, 2014
As any loyal loving dog would, she obeyed my final wish and command.

She came back to me.

Now, she is with me, in a place of honor and remembrance. It is there she will sit and stay.

Forever, my loyal loving dog, friend and trusted companion.

*Katy Rose
March 1, 2001 - May 12, 2014*

Epilogue:
I have always struggled with loss. I, like many am an animal lover. All of my dogs are rescues. I care for them and treat them like family and enjoy what they bring into my life. Katy was Red Doberman. She was the second one I have had. Having spent more than half my life with Dobermans, it’s safe to say they are my favorite breed and the Reds are truly beautiful. She would always reach for me. She always wanted more love and more attention. She was the most affectionate dog I have ever had. I suppose it's those moments of her character that she reserved for me alone that I will miss the most.

We were close.

Even at my age, being able to rationalize and understand that nothing in this life lasts forever and this event was indeed destined to arrive, understanding and rationalizing doesn't make it any easier to bare.

I apologize for the changes in tone from narrative to some form of poetic expression. This was hard to write and frankly I’m out of practice. I just needed to get the words out and try and relive some of the weight my heart is carrying.

Its been awhile....
For over three years I collected and shared an exclusive B&W circle. This circle "was" one of the most shared on G+ for awhile. I would share it once a month with everyone as a part of my personal desire to share more quality B&W images and photographers. The requirement for being in this circle was that the photographer shot at least 60% B&W images (I tend to shoot 80%).

There are some excellent photographers and friends here. I encourage you to take a look at their work. While I know that bulk circle sharing is a thing of the past or no longer the norm on G+ (which is a shame) I wanted to re-share a collection of truly inspirational people.

You wont be disappointed. Re-share if you like their work

Then do it.

PAX East
So, at work there are occasions when I get to shoot for Riot. I REALLY enjoy shooting for my company and always have a good time. Recently I got a chance to go to PAX East in Boston and shoot the show, meet our fans and players.

I have to tell you, we have some of the best fans in the world. I LOVED every second of being there, meeting people and talking about our company, game and the overall League of Legends community. The Cosplay was nothing shy of AMAZING!

Here are just "Some" of the shots I took. More are on the way (Including our after party that included a surprise visit by the Crystal Method).

It was EPIC ! and these shots are just a small tribute to the fans and players that make everything we do at Riot possible. WE LOVE YOU ALL and thanks for letting me take your pictures.

Enjoy,

So, how many times do you (out there in the Googleverse) see a shot by someone else and you wish it was yours...?

I have that experience all the time, the below shot is one of those shots.

Ok... I'm the moron.... and here is why.

I haven't used G+ Much in awhile, though that is improving. There have been so many UI changes that at times you (meaning me.... not really you) forgot how the hell this thing works.

In the vein of making it "more usable" they have inadvertently made something less usable. It never ceases to amaze me at the decisions that are made for inclusion vs. those that we have asked for FOREVER yet have never seen (case and point - A WYSIWYG editor for these posts (much like that which has existed for sometime in the About/Bio Section) that allows for Bolding and underlining without all of the proprietary stoopid leading characters)... Just sayin...

Anyway, I digress (hell, Im getting old I have an excuse).

I just realized that my default view showed my profile and I wrongly assumed this is what was displayed to the public.

[SMACK! had on desk]

That wasnt the case. Nope I had to include it in the public viewing so people could see why the should follow me or even care.

So problem fixed + one new bruise to the forehead.

Now that I am done with my self deprecation....

HEY GOOGLE
Why dont you add something we REALLY want like the WYSIWYG editor instead of making just sharing and posting a PITA...?

Also... how about Error messages that mean something. #500 means NOTHING and I shouldnt have to google it to find out what it means. I think they taught me that in software 101 :)

Long Road -
Its been a long road since I joined G+. I think I have had a pretty good run despite disappearing here for the last year.

I have decided to create a new profile and start a new project with regard to my social media presence. I am going to create a new profile, officially launch my blog and separate my photography and writing. My new profile will be largely based on writing alone.

once created I will share it here with all of my followers in hopes that those that wish to read my stories or mindless rambling will follow that profile as well.

I know a few of you have read me toying with this idea for quite sometime. generally most of you say, "Just start over here" no reason to create a new account.

Up to know I have agreed, but really want to just start over.

So what will the difference be..?

1- I am going to share my stories, writings and thoughts as I always have.

2- In the form my friend +J.C. Kendall I am going to address issues, problems and observations in a very direct (sometimes humorous) way. I miss his writing, his style and presence and think its time we get some of that back on Google+.

So... stay tuned. I am in the process of moving and things are kinda hectic but I will be ready to go soon and will once again be "Present" on Google+ here very shortly.

There was a time when I wrote on a weekly basis. This was largely a cathartic experience. Since that time, I have been so busy with work and trying to get my life in better order that the stories dont come out or I am so tired the writing and release seem to fade.

I was asked today to share one of my favorite stories (outside of google+) and I chose this one.

Its not a story so much as it is an accounting and some advice. Take a look, share it if you like it. For those of you who have read it before, I hope you dont mind me sharing it again. I share so little these days that you probably dont remember this one

Preface:
It has been my experience that when you hear the words "For your sake" its never a good thing. People shouldn't have the right to think for us. Good intentions or not, there are some decisions in life that can't be changed and the impact they have on us lasts forever.

This is one of those stories.

For My Sake
=============

I was 28; it was late August when my mother called. I was in the middle of a divorce, my son was barely 1 year old and my life was essentially an emotional hell. Everything that could go wrong was and now there was this...

When mom called, I was in the middle of trying to console my son and get him calmed down. The message was simple. My grandfather, now 82 had been diagnosed with Cancer (3 months ago) and wasn't doing well.

Yes, three months prior. You can imagine that this news flew like a lead balloon with me.

I lived in Dallas, they were in West Texas. That’s three months I could have had. But "For My Sake" they didn't want to subject me to the pain of knowing the man I loved and idolized was essentially dying.  When my parents considered all the other things I was going through they didn't want to worry me with anything else.

The time that was left was never a consideration.
My need for the time was never considered.
My feelings were apparently considered yet I had a real issue with the conclusion made on my behalf.

I was overwhelmed with sorrow and concern followed by a pinch of anger.

The trip was planned and I packed up my rag tag family... hanging on by a thread, we made the drive as if it was a death march to see my grandfather.

No amount of adjectives could have prepared me for what I experienced when I got there. Three months of a progressing condition and now, like a pitcher in a losing effort with the bases loaded and no strikes, I get called in. I was walking into an emotional disaster.

But.... it was "For My Sake"

We arrived at my parents’ house and made our way in. My grandmother (whom I love dearly as well) is sitting in the recliner in the front of the house. Having suffered from several strokes she wasn't altogether anymore.

She didn't recognize me. Yeah it hurt, but I understood. The thought that immediately hit me is that there is nothing about the "Golden" years. How in the name of God can it be fair that you live your entire life only to forget the things that mean the most to you , the things that you live your life for.

I hadn't been in the house three minutes and I was crushed.

I headed back to my grandfather’s room. He had a nurse that was administering his medication. This way he could be home and be more comfortable.

He looked miserable...

My grandfather... larger than life, at 6'-1" and 260, he was a broad and strong man. Barrel chested, thick and sturdy, his appearance was the essence of confidence. The only thing that was more impressive than his presence was his mind. He graduated Salutatorian from OU with a degree in Business Finance.

Now, a ripe shade of yellow, the cancer had progressed to his liver and jaundice had set in. His eyes were bright red, as if there was a demon inside trying to fight off what was killing him. His breathing was strained and he was moving real slow. My strong, intelligent, commanding presence grandfather had shrunk. His girth was gone having been eaten by the cancer and his determination was fading.

He didn’t acknowledge my presence while I stood there… staring. As a large tear slowly formed, and the muscles in my chest got tight, his nurse waved me off so she could finish his treatment. I nodded and turned to leave. As she was squeezing the bacg to push that last drops of his medication through the IV he groaned.

The tear fell… and I walked away…

All this..

"For My Sake"

When my grandfather emerged, he moved slow, grimaced in pain and sat on the couch. It was at this time when he met my son for the first and last time. He held him on his lap, and I took the one and only picture of my grandfather with my son. Two of the most important people in my life, finally together, one too young and oblivious to know the significance of the moment and the other hanging on to a memory that would last 35 days.

The outfit my son wore that day is on a teddy bear in my office. It reminds me that it happened. All I ever wanted was my grandfather to see me raise my son and teach him as he taught me. I wanted him to be a part of his life; I needed him to guide me. Everything was such a mess and shy of my son I was miserable. But this visit, it wasn’t about advice, it wasn’t about help, it was about goodbye.

Three months of time I could have had and now, I am facing the reality that this won’t get better and time was running out.

"For My Sake"

The moment with my son in his lap lasted about thirty seconds. My son started to fuss and in my grandfathers weakened state, it made sense to collect him and let mom try and calm him down. My grandfather smiled when I took the picture.

And that was it.

The weekend passed, he slept a bunch which made sense. I found myself going by his room to just stare. The memories all rushing by so fast. The times we had, the love I had for him, the respect and the pain. While I recognized that time will take us all and this time was his. I was so scared and hurt…

On Sunday, it was time to go back to Dallas. It was to be a long and somber drive. I told my grandmother I loved her and goodbye. Said goodbye to my folks and then loaded the kids up. Once they were comfortable, I went back in the house and headed back to his room. He was there, staring off into space. I hadn’t made a sound, and without even looking at me he said.

“Davey, fly low and slow. I love you.”

He reached for me and I gave him a hug. I had so many things to ask, so many things I wanted to know, so many more lessons I wanted to hear or learn again. So much…. well, more.
He looked off in the distance, and faded back to where he was before.

Those were the last words he ever said to me.

As I left I made my parents promise if anything happened to call me and I would be here immediately. They promised and with that we headed back to Dallas. The problem was that they never called. I was never told when he was in the hospital, in pain, in need or needed to be surrounded by the people he loved and that loved him back.

I was told later that they didn’t tell me "For My Sake"…

Because he was in pain, and when he was dying it was bad. They decided for me that I didn’t need to see it or experience it….

I did get my final goodbye….

You see, my grandparents NEVER missed my birthday. And my 29 th birthday was no exception. We were together, however on Sept 23, the day before my 29th I was at the cemetery, standing in a church before family and friends offering a eulogy to the man that inspired me, challenged me and taught me. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. To this very day, I can think of my grandfather and just cry. Oh God it hurts so bad and makes me so happy at the same time. It was blessing to have such a wonderful person in my life. I just wish he could have seen more.

"For My Sake"

Epilogue:
If I could do it all over again, I would have been there. The passing of my grandfather was more important to me than a failing marriage and the eventual duties of being a single parent. The things I wanted to say I wasn’t able to say. The feelings I wanted to express weren’t ever shared. As a result, 17 years later I have a heart filled with regret, pain and many tears have been shed.

Saying goodbye to anyone or anything is a choice we all have. If you ever find yourself in the position of deciding for someone else….

Don’t

Let them do it on their own.

Closure in life is personal, important and something that others can never properly consider. Some people want it, despite the image or the circumstance, others, don’t. Both choices are fine if they are made by the person and not on their behalf.

Every time my life is a mess, which seems to be a regular occurrence these days I think of him. I wonder what he would tell me, what sage advice he would give me.

Since there is no more advice to be given, I will just try as hard as I can to fly a little lower, and a little slower, just as he wanted me to.

"For My Sake"

“Let parents bequeath to their children not riches, but the spirit of reverence.” -- Plato

An important lesson.....

that is very difficult to explain to a college kid. Despite the institution of higher learning, it would appear the college kids only need to contact home when in need of the "Riches." Any other time, despite how close they are to their parents, it seems that the parents become nothing more than an afterthought.

It's frustrating.....
It hurts

And it causes one to question the "Closeness" of the relationship.

I have had a few explain to me that, "It's new, they have a new life and new experiences," and that I need to let them experience it.

Which is fine, I completely understand that... the problem I have is simply this.

Mine, is the same... just without my son in it.

My house is empty..
its quiet here.

NO conversation, nothing but empty and silence. Two lives have changed dramatically.

One gets to truly experience life and one realizes how much of his life (my life) was all about getting my son ready to experience his.

The hardest thing in life to start..... is over

LEAGUE Of LEGENDS - World Finals

In case any of you wondered what it looks like to get ten guys in the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles to play a best of 5 series match for one million dollars....... here ya go.

We had about 13,000 people on hand to watch the event in person and over 4 Million watched the stream of the event.

Oh yeah... The Crystal Method was part of our opening act :-)
