Downwards of Gaislachkogl, Sölden, Tirol, Austria

This amazing view was visible some kilometers from the summit of Gaislachkogl downwards to Sölden.

Enjoy this beautiful view in fullscreen and in #panosphere mode! I made it again with my Nexus 4.

Hope you like it! Leave a comment or +1.

UPDATE: It seems that there is a problem to watch the panosphere with the G+ app (at least for me), watch it on your computer to see it in all its beauty.

Beauty of the mountain

This beauty was just standing beside the trail downwards of Gaislachkogl (Sölden, Austria) and I couldn't resist, I had to make this shot. It took some seconds before he/she left the trail and you can't see it but he/she was really tall.

This will be the first shot of a small series about Austria's mountains and nature.

Hope you like it. Leave a comment or +1.

View at Eibsee, summit of Waxenstein and summit of Alpspitz

We had this amazing view on our via ferrata tour to the summit of Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak south of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, just few minutes before the summit.

On the left is the lake Eibsee, the peak in the middle of the photo is Waxenstein and Alpspitz is on the right. The valley on the right with the glacier is Höllental with the Höllentalklamm at the end.

View from Friedrichsturm on the summit Badener Höhe (1002m)

We had this view at this beautiful "coast line" from the summit of Badener Höhe which is "only" 1002 meters (3287 ft) high. Normally you can see the whole Rhine Valley from this viewpoint but yesterday the fog covered the whole valley.

It looked like an ocean with its waves crashing against the coast.

Hope you enjoy this view as much as we did yesterday.

We had this amazing view during our hike of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in Wales. You can see Whitesands Bay directly in front of the summit of Can Llidl. On the left is St. David's Head.

Wales is just an amazing country, if you have the chance to visit Wales, do it!

Marloes Sands with view at Gateholm, Wales
The next photo from my holiday in Wales. Marloes Sands is a beautiful beach with great possibilities for shooting photos. Lots of rocks and a stunning view to Gateholm. The beach is very crowdy during the day but in the evening it's totally quiet out there.

More photos will follow from Wales the next days.

St. David's Cathedral, Wales
My first shot from my beautiful and amazing holiday in Wales. I hiked the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Amroth to St. Dogmaels with my girlfriend in August.

More images will follow soon, but I had to share this photo after I finished the post processing. This is St. David's Cathedral, which is one of the most impressive cathedral on the path. You have to visit it if you are near St. David's.

On the way to the summit of Belchen

I past this beautiful way up to the summit of Belchen in the Black Forest, Germany. Belchen is the fourth highest summit of the Black Forest with its 1,414 metres.

I liked the atmosphere of this short section, just before the summit.

Catch me if you can
This little red #squirell  was fast as it ran up the tree. There were only few moments when it stopped and looked at me like it would say: "Catch me if you can". I caught it and I think it looks absolutely amazing.

This is also for +Squirrel Saturday, even it's Sunday at the moment. ;-)

The moon......only the moon
This was a test shot with my new lens. Never used a telephoto zoom lens before, so I'm very happy with the result and the lens and thought that it is worth to share it.

The photo was taken without a tripod, with full zoom at 300mm. ISO 800, F/8. This shot is a 75% crop from the original one.

The lens is a Tamron 70-300 F/4-5.6 with USD and VC.

Madenburg Castle in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Long time no public post from my side. Now I'm back with a panosphere from the Madenburg Castle. I have to go through my images and do some more and regular posts, but lately I didn't have much time to go out and shoot.  More images will come.

This one was also made with the Nexus 4, completely without any tripod. It's not as good as the other ones (overlapping and not fitting lines in the foreground), but I thought that it is worth to share it.

Hope you like it anyway.

As all other panosphere I have share it also on my Google Maps Views page: https://www.google.com/maps/views/profile/112342248775237115466

View from a point between Hornisgrinde and Katzenkopf at the Rhine Rift Valley / Germany

As I promised a next shot from the Westweg hike. You can see the last foothills of the Black Forest before the Rhine Rift Valley begins. Somewhere at the horizon are the Vosges Mountains in France.

I had some luck with this view, as you can see in the left the clouds were coming and the view were gone after half an hour. It was one of the few views I had that day during my hike, so I'm really lucky that I got this shot!

View at Hausach and Kinzig valley / Germany

Another shot from my #Westweg  hike. You have this view from Spitzfelsen if you look westwards, you can see Hausach and the Kinzig valley surrounded by all the mountains and summits.

The Westweg leads you down to Hausach, just to go uphill directly after Hausach. Especially this part of the Westweg is one of the steepest part of the whole Westweg.

More shots will follow...hope you like it.

I had this fantastic view in the early morning hours from Farrenkopf during my hike of the Westweg. The wind turbines are in the south-east of Farrenkopf.

Waking up with such a view was just amazing.

I take this shot for my contribution to +Mountain Monday  #mountainmonday  curated by +Michael Russell.

Misty and wet forest near Feldberg / Germany

This is my first photo I will share with you from my hike of the Westweg, more will follow.

This shot was taken after the summit of Feldberg, which is the highest mountain in the Black Forest. It was misty the whole day, everything was wet and the green of the leaves and fern was extremely colorful.

Finished the Westweg / Black Forest / Germany (271km (168mi) in 11 days)

Last week (more precisely from September, 28th until October, 8th) I hiked the #Westweg . It's a long-distance hiking trail running north-south through the Black Forest in Germany. You can find more information at Wikipedia about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westweg

The whole time my GPS logger was activated which produces this track:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0PgOLhmmA3DZnVGTWRMdllJSk0/edit?usp=sharing

GPSVisualizer.com created the attached elevation profile from the GPS data. I will post some photos from the hike the next days, if I will find some spare time to have a look at all the photos and for the processing. I think there were some good locations and spots for some good photos ;-)

In summary it was a ascent of 13301m (43638ft) and a descent of 13736m(... more »

Enjoy the mountaineer photos!

View from Gaislachkogl (3.058 m), near Sölden, Austria

Another shot for my small series about Austria's nature and landscape.

Looking south from Gaislachkogl to Italy. On the right you can see the summit "Äußere Schwarze Schneid (3.255 m)", beneath to the summit is Gaislacher Lake. You can also see the summit of Nederkogel (3.163 m, nearly in the middle of the shot). Also Timmelsjoch is visible which is a high mountain pass that creates a link between Italy and Austria. The city in the left valley is Sölden.

Hope you like this panorama as much as the other two shots! Leave comments and +1

This will be the first shot of a small series about Austria's mountains and nature.

Peerler Lake, Ötztal, Austria

The last post I have showed you the way to Peerler Lake, now have a look on your own at the lake.

It's surrounded by high rocks and a small rest of a glacier which is melting down. The water is extremely clear and you can watch really deep. The place is just peaceful. Only the small waves of the lake ripples and you hear nothing else. It's really a place to have a break and a cup of coffee.

This amazing waterfall near Längenfeld can be reached after a climb of a via ferrata. During the whole climb you have a beautiful view at the waterfall.

Watch it in #photosphere mode to have the full experience.

I have taken the photosphere with my Nexus 4, the photosphere mode of the camera is just amazing!

Thanks +Google and +Android Developers for this device and software!

Community, I need your help!
Yesterday I have recognized that my #Canon  EOS 7D doesn't show the settings anymore in the finder. I can see the focus points and the grid, but the bottom line with the ISO settings, the f-stop settings, etc. are all gone. Also the display on the right top of the #7D  doesn't illuminate anymore if I press the button to do so. And finally the internal flash doesn't work anymore either, it shows me the error code 50 in the display and does nothing anymore.

Anybody an idea or some help if I can "repair" it on my own without sending it back to Canon and pay for the repair?

Thanks in advance...

Geroldsau Waterfall
This is the Geroldsau Waterfall which is located near Baden-Baden (Baden-Württemberg/Germany). I just live one hour away from this place but I have never been there before in my life. The waterfall and the surrounding area is just amazing.

Luckily I have chosen the right time to shoot this photo. It was in the late evening and most of the people were gone already, so I had no surrounding people which disturbed me. The light was perfect for this shot.

Hope you like it.

Karlsruhe Main Station
I have shot this photo months ago as one of my first photos which I had taken with my Nexus 4. Now I have found it in my gallery again and liked it immediately.
I have edited it using snapseed and eyeem two great apps on Android.

I love the symmetries in this shot, the way I have edit it and the location it shows. I have written it in the title, it shows Karlsruhe main station, a very busy place during the whole day. Train stations have something special, I can't say what, maybe the all the people, the coming and going of them.

Hope you like it.

Welcome Spring!
First time this year with good temperatures in the evening (about 25°C), a balcony, a good white wine, salad and a tasty potato casserole topped with goat cheese. That's all you need to have a good dinner and an enjoyable evening in the city.

Shot and edited with my Nexus 4.

Somewhere near Schneizlreuth in the south of Bavaria/Germany
This will be my last winter shot for this year. I shot it at our last snow hiking tour before the weather got bad and the whole view was gone. I really like the clouds in this shot and the far view from this point.

Hope you like it and now we all say goodbye to this very long winter this year. ;-)

David Keller
Yesterday I have found David Keller's webpage on the internet who is really a great DJ (from Heidelberg, Germany) who makes very good remixes and own songs. Feel free to listen to one of his sets on soundcloud (link below) or on his other webpages (you can find the links on the soundcloud page).

If you love electronic music then you should listen to him. My favourite song at the moment is "Herzblut".

Sadly that I can't include the #soundcloud  player into a G+ post, that would be great. Anyone knows if this is possible?

Contrasts of winter
During our snowshoe hiking tour we had this view for a very small moment. The clouds opened just for some seconds and then they cover the sky and the whole view was gone.

That was REALLY close
Two weeks ago I thought that it couldn't be shorter with my battery charge. But this time I really made it shorter. I left with a battery charge of only 2km and for the first time I noticed that my Twizy didn't have enough power to accelerate anymore. I stepped on the gas and nothing happened, it just stuck at the lowest energy consumption which is possible and I really thought that I wasn't able to arrive at home.

What did I learn from this? Never drive your battery charge lower than a rest capacity of 4km, everything else below 4km is a risk that you won't arrive your destination.

This will be interesting for all +Freunde des Twizy and owners of +Elektroauto. Maybe it's worth to reshare it.

Can it be shorter?
Yesterday evening I returned luckily at home with my Twizy and a battery charge for only 4 more kilometres. I haven't noticed the small battery charge warning symbol before in my display. This was really a good calculated trip. :-)

For those who don't know what a Twizy is and what the photo shows: The Twizy is a small electric car manufactured by Renault and on the photo you can see the cockpit display of it. On the left you can see the battery state of charge and at the bottom centered you can see the kilometres you are able to drive with the actual battery charge.

I think the slowmoVideo project needs more attention
I have discovered this project some time ago, but I wasn't able to try it because it depend on nVidia GPUs for calclulating the optical flow of the video. But this limitation was dropped with version 0.3 and it can be used now with any GPU. I have tried it and it makes great results!

 - Motion blur can be added, as much as you want.

I think you have seen such great super slow-motion videos on the internet before, but these were made with commercial software and/or cameras which are able to record in slow-motion. slowmoVideo is open source and you can find all the necessary stuff on the webpage. There is also a PKGBUILD on the AUR for the +Arch Linux users.

But I think I have written enough, have a look at the video and look for yourself what slowmoVideo can do.

You can find more videos on the webpage of slowmoVideo. Also you can find a good documentation for the workflow of the program. Give it a try!___

The time goes by too fast. Can't really believe that I was this little sweetie about 31 years ago. :)

I have restored these two shots from my dad's slide archive. They had a light red coloration and some ugly scrapes. But I think I have done a good job.
