Jason Kennedy17,358Kubernetes? Was developed right here in Seattle is a powerful open source tool for managing containers and clusters in any cloud: https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/kubernetesVia NYT: Called Kubernetes, the software project draws on a former Google top secret: how the search giant efficiently built and deployed powerful applications like search, mail and maps over its cloud computing system, one of the world’s largest. Kubernetes builds on top of Docker to construct a clustered container scheduling service. Kubernetes enables users to ask a cluster to run a set of containers. The system will automatically pick worker nodes to run those containers on, which we think of more as "scheduling" than "orchestration". Kubernetes also provides ways for containers to find and communicate with each other and ways to manage both tightly coupled and loosely coupled sets of cooperating containers.Señor Luis Daniel Ballesteros, Google Engineer, will give the talk.Seattle GDG - Kubernetes; Google Fremont2014-08-19 03:23:173

Kira Kroger (mistyayn)12,796Space Needle Converges at the Seattle Center Event Details: https://sites.google.com/site/seattlecenterconvergence/ If you have any questions please ask in this event. Please feel free to make your way to pop kitchen + bar (inside EMP) after events are over at the Seattle Center (approx 7PM).  Joe Philley will be there and would love to meet as many people as possible. The History: Over fifty years ago, an XM anomaly so strong so as to be detectable with 60s science was discovered. Under the cover of the 1962 World's Fair it was suppressed and contained by a novel structure known as the Space Needle. The project disappeared into classified files. But the energy within the anomaly was too strong for primitive human technology to hold for long. The defenses are wavering. Fifty years worth of alien energies are about to be unleashed, and no field can hope to contain them. We know when it will happen. Only the faction that controls the site of the World's Fair can hope to tap into some fraction of that stored power - and bend the power surge to their own ends.  Containment will fail on May 4th. Scientists of both factions are studying the implications, and are on track to uncover a way to exploit the anomaly by April 15th. Mission orders for May 4th will be released at that time. *tl;dr* This is a player planned event at the Seattle Center on May 4th.  The official rules will be added to this event on April 15th.  There will be a get together following the event, details will also be added on April 15th.  (please check back for more information).Space Needle Convergence (Player Initiated Event)2013-05-04 14:30:00126

Harshit Gupta0Hey all, try this long ago +Robert Scoble shared circle of techies....it's what can get you started here on g+2012-07-11 14:48:57243112
Kyle Beck66So, I know a lot of my friends who have joined +Google+ wonder "What's the point? I have a Facebook." Well that comparison was flawed from the beginning, although many people made it while trying to describe G+. There are similarities, but one of my favorite features in G+ has been the ability to share Circles with others. In fact I'm not sure I would see the point if I hadn't been shared this very circle by +Robert Scoble (IIRC) early on in my G+ membership. It has proven an invaluable source of up-to-the-minute Tech News over the past year and really showed me how G+ is very different from FB.See, when you visit FB the information you receive is solely from your family and real-life acquaintances. This can be great for keeping up with people you don't see regularly, etc., but it is very hard to reach out to new people who share your interests through FB. Not so on G+. You can create and share groups of friends and pages (Circles) to organize your social interests. In effect, this creates dynamic communities where you can choose who you interact with.Anyways, I hope you will consider adding this Circle, packed full of Tech Enthusiasts. If you don't really use G+ or wonder what the point is, that goes double for you!2012-06-30 00:28:364881003

Matthew Trotter63Okay. I've been collecting shared #writer / #reader circles for the past week or so, and I thought I'd share our combined efforts. Of course, G+ only allows you to share 500 people at a time, so this isn't a complete list, but it's pretty substantial.I've had a blast talking to and getting to know all of you over this past week or so. I've laughed, learned, and loved—a lot. I hope this circle will provide you the same pleasure that it has provided me.And just because you don't see yourself doesn't mean you're not in my circle. Like I said, there's a 500 person sharing limit. Still, if there's any doubt, you can ask to be added. I'm more than happy to.Much writerly love and salud,MattP.S. Robert Scoble158,666I'm sharing two circles today. This is the first half of my "Tech Journalist and Blogger" circle. The ones with last names that start from A-M. These are people who are thought leaders, reporters, journalists, bloggers in the tech industry. As with all my circles I try to remove people who aren't active (if you see any here, please let me know). And, if you know of folks who should be on these circles, please let me know, I'll add them.Robert Scoble shared a circle with you.2011-10-08 18:10:07341382844
Robert Scoble152,040This is the best circle for Apple tech news tomorrowThis will be the best circle to watch for info on Apple tomorrow (it's of 250 of the best tech journalists/bloggers/thought leaders on Google+). I will be in front of my three big screens pulling in the best data from around the Web. I'll be watching Twitter, Facebook, Google+ all at the same time. Plus, I'll be live on +Shira Lazar's show starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow with live reports.Anyway, if you want to see how the tech press covers this, follow this circle (make sure you put these in a new circle of your own so you can delete them if they get too noisy for you).I'm watching thousands more, too, and will share anything good. You will be flooded tomorrow with Apple news. If you can't handle this, just unfollow for the morning and everything will calm down pretty quickly after noon.Robert Scoble shared a circle with you.2011-10-03 21:26:3925067127124

Great stuff here.

Hey speakers, did you know that with a bit of preparation, you can stream and record your talk via Hangouts on Air tomorrow? It's pretty straightforward if you install Hangouts this evening. Here's an excrutiatingly detailed account of what to click to make it happen:

1) Make sure you have the Google Hangouts plugin installed on the system from which you'll be presenting. https://www.google.com/tools/dlpage/hangoutplugin will help you find the right download for your distro. Install and test the plugin a few hours before your talk, if possible. Go through Google's tests to make sure it's playing nicely with your microphone.

2) Get the SeaGL account login from an op in the #seagl channel on Freenode, or have them add your Google account as a manager on the SeaGL Google+ page. Test the following steps without acutally creating a hangout to make sure you have permissions, and then repeat them when it's time to broadcast:

3) 10 minutes before your talk starts, go to your room and connect to the wifi (connection information is probably in the corner of the whiteboard). Go to the SeaGL Google+ page, https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/105971622418115358467/+SeaglOrg/ in a browser where you're logged into Google+ as an account with permissions to manage the SeaGL page.

4) At the very top of the page, there's a ribbon that tells you that you're a manager of the page. Click the "manage this page" button.

5) In the upper left, directly below the Google+ logo, there's a dropdown labeled either "Google+ Page" or "My Business". Mouse over it, and click on "hangouts" in the list that appears.

6) You'll be taken to a page with a "hangouts on air" informative blurb thing. Click the big blue "start a hangout on air" on it.

7) Input the session name for the hangout name and your talk's abstract for the talk description. You can get your talk's abstract from the Lanyrd schedule at http://lanyrd.com/2014/seagl/schedule/ . If it's more than a few minutes until your talk, you can say that it starts later, and specify your talk's start time.

8) Click the big green "share" button at the bottom. If you said your talk will start later, you're taken to a screen with your hangout and a "join" button. Click the join button.

9) A window will pop up, spin a loading icon a the bottom for a bit, and then give you an interface with an "off air" light and a "go live" button.

10) On the left side of the screen, there's a "screenshare app". It's a little green monitor icon with a white arrow on it. Click the screenshare button, and select which screen you want to share (preferably the one with the slides on it).

11) Make sure your mic is not muted, hit the "go live" button, and give your talk!

12) After your talk is over, close the hangout window or hit the disconnect button in the interface.

Your talk will now have been livestreamed while you present, and recorded on Youtube for posterity!___Great stuff here.
