Brewery/Pub Menu Options

Doing some research on a project and have looked at probably 50+ brew pub menus across the country. My question is, what kind of items are must have menu items (food people, not beer/wine).

The concept is going to be as local and as fresh as possible, which isn't always possible, but for most items I think we can. Some things I had in mind were kind of obvious:

- rotating styles of tacos, eg Korean bbq with kimchi, fish tacos, pulled pork, pork belly, etc...

- beer cheese, of course!

- hummus platter

- fresh wings

- chili and one soup of the day

- fresh salads

- a few kid items like chicken tenders, hot dogs, grilled cheese

Then there would be some seasonal stuff, like Tomato Pie in the summer (my Mama's recipe of course), different local seafoods... more »

You can now use your keyboard to pan and zoom within Google Maps, without touching your mouse.

You can also find and learn more about specific places like neighborhoods, transit stations and shops and restaurants

Here's how it works:

♨ On your keyboard, press Tab to focus the map. An area of the map will be highlighted with a square.

♨ Below the square, there will be a numbered list of places in that area.

♨ To move around the map, use the arrow keys. To move the map by one square, hold down Shift while using the arrow keys.

♨ To zoom in or out of the map, press + or –

Low Country Shrimp Boil

This is my recipe, and I like to use Italian style sausage instead of smoked in mine, changes the flavor profile a little.

I imagine this to be served to a table of 4-6 and they can pick at it for a while while enjoying fresh brewed beer.

Mine starts by browning the cut up sausage links, then adding onion, celery, thyme and butter. After the butter melts, I add the red potatoes and water. 1/2 a cup of Old Bay or Zatarain's Crab Boil and cook for about ten minutes, then add corn and cook for 5 more minutes, then add the shrimp for a few short minutes, careful not to overcook.

Drain and spread on a platter.

Then there would be some seasonal stuff, like Tomato Pie in the summer (my Mama's recipe of course), different local seafoods... more »

This is all in concept phase, but I appreciate any thoughts. I want to keep it simple, one page menu with list of drinks on other side. Site will seat about 50.

Evernote vs. OneNote

I don't use either, but I used to be a paid user of Evernote. Now I am going between Drive and Dropbox along with MeisterTask to manage my projects/tasks now. I like some of the features in Dropbox for sharing files which seems easier than on Drive. Dropbox also makes it easier to back up and store my photos without using much of my valued space on my iPhone 6, Google Photos is an awesome app, and I love it, but it truly takes up too much room.

The thing I like most about Drive as my project management tool is that I can open spreadsheets in Sheets, docs in Docs, PDF's in any number of extensions, images open, etc... As a paid user I get unlimited space, so syncing across all my devices is fairly easy to accomplish.

I am still working on perfecting my systems, but that is half the fun!___

Decided to make my own margarita today. Didn't have any margarita mix, so I made my own. Unfortunately that didn't include limes because I am out, but I did have lemons and oranges, I figured I could make that work.

Tequila

It all starts with tequila, this is what I had in the freezer, which was leftover from my bachelor weekend a few months ago. Dobel is a 100% agave tequila that was given to me as a gift that weekend, and it is really smooth!

Fruit

I believe in a little bit less sour and a lot more fresh fruit juice in a margarita. Unfortunately I had no limes, but the oranges and lemons truly did the trick.

Simple Syrup

Every home bar should have some, I don't like to make it so I buy it by the bottle.

Recipe

So, I suck with measuring things, which is why I rarely bake. Pretty much though, I used the cap from my shaker and put two tequila, two fruit juice (hand squeezed), and one simple syrup.

After shaking and pouring over ice, I tasted, then added another shot of tequila and half a shot of simple syrup to the shaker to top off the glass.

It came out really good, but I think everyone's taste is different. This was a little sweeter, but I like it that way.

"In more recent times, barbecue has even figured as a campaign issue. When a North Carolina secretary of state, Rufus Edmisten, ran for governor in 1984, he got in trouble with an offhand remark. “I’d be eating barbecue three times a day for a solid year,” he later recalled, “and I got up one night and, in a very, very lax moment — the devil made me do it — I made a horrible statement. I said, ‘I’m through with barbecue.’ Well, you would have thought I had made a speech against my mother, against apple pie, cherry pie, the whole mess.” He lost the election to a Republican (only the second one to be elected since Reconstruction)."
