Pat Kight13,870@113977984500465768287  said she wants the Scavengers under her tree for Christmas. Let's do it! Drop by, say hi to the friends you've made during the Autumn Scavenger Hunt, share a few photos of your own festivities. (Invite going out to the Autumn Scavengers circle, but I've enabled the "on air" feature so folks from past Scavenger events can see it, and you can invite other Scavengers).Scavengers Holiday Party2013-12-24 21:00:00151G+
Lady Fran W6,875Can you make an ordinary running kitchen tap look fab? This challenge came about following a conversation in a thread with +Megan Huddle (thanks for the inspiration babe!). Whilst on a recent trip to New Zealand, I got my very first 'soft milky water' shot of a stream, and purely by luck. I had no ND filter, no tripod, just good light and a little bridge to lean the camera on. See here - http://goo.gl/Vpz58I'm now obsessed with trying out this kind of photography wherever I go. I'm searching for streams, waterfalls, beaches, you name it. +Megan Huddle suggested I could make anything look good (uber flattered). .. and so the challenge came about. A camera, an idea, and a plain old running tap in the kitchen sink.    Can you make it look fab?   I think you can. Work your magic. Show us what you’ve got.Any camera, and setting, any processing. It’s all open to your imagination and creativity.Sooooo, why not give it a go?  There's no prizes I'm afraid. No rewards. (Unless some super generous sponsor out there wants to throw something in as incentive.) Otherwise, it's all about the glowing recognition, compliments and praise from your G+ peers. Due date: 11:30pm, Friday 8 December Saturday 9 December -----------------------------------------------------------PS PUBLIC EVENT! - Apparently one can't invite large numbers of guests to an event (ie big circles), soooo, please feel free to forward this around and get people involved. =)Photo challenge - A simple tap2012-12-08 13:30:0072G+

Mario Rotta15,308This is a circle in which I included a lot of excellent photographers: but most of them start from pictures to create visual design effects. So, this circle may represent a list of people working on the edge between photography and art. I like that experimental edge :-)2014-05-22 06:00:41400016CC G+

David Bowden37,155Its been awhile....For over three years I collected and shared an exclusive B&W circle. This circle "was" one of the most shared on G+ for awhile. I would share it once a month with everyone as a part of my personal desire to share more quality B&W images and photographers. The requirement for being in this circle was that the photographer shot at least 60% B&W images (I tend to shoot 80%).There are some excellent photographers and friends here. I encourage you to take a look at their work. While I know that bulk circle sharing is a thing of the past or no longer the norm on G+ (which is a shame) I wanted to re-share a collection of truly inspirational people. You wont be disappointed. Re-share if you like their work</david>2014-05-06 23:16:1649012223CC G+

Georges Pauly14,521Thomas HawkShared publicly  -  30 Aug 2013 2500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 2 of 5)This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Yesterday I shared last name A-Da.  This one , part 2 of 5, today, represents Da-Ho.  I'll share the remaining three next week.  I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.A few notes about this circle. The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.  Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)Stay tuned for parts 3, 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.Part 1-5:  http://goo.gl/17ujpn*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of domain errors.  If this affected you, sorry about that.2013-09-01 19:56:06482204CC G+

Dallas McMillan7,412Circle from the land downunder - Australia's top 200 PlussersWho are Australia's most followed people on Google Plus?I've put together this circle of Australia's top 200 profiles (by follower numbers - not engagement - some aren't particularly active) on Google Plus. It's pretty interesting to see the types of profiles which make the cut. Here is my quick overview:By far the most dominant characteristic of the top 200 are photographers - professional and amateur. The other notable individuals are a couple of cricketers in the top 10, a smattering of celebrity chefs, musicians, writers, artists, models and other celebrities. There are also fair numbers of Google employees, IT workers, social media and marketing types as well as a decent number of scientists and mathematicians. The only politician I noticed was Malcolm Turnbull - the Prime Minister and Leader of the opposition are conspicuous by their absence.I got the list from +CircleCount http://www.circlecount.com/au/profileslist/ and I've made a few tweaks - removing a couple of profiles that were inactive or had moved away from Australia. There were a number of others which probably don't belong as they now work in the USA or elsewhere.  #australia   #australianphotographers   #circleshare  I've notified members of the circle - let me know if you don't want to be listed.2013-08-04 14:24:522009213CC G+

Of course there will be mitigating factors...Because of the way that Google no longer presents every person who adds me to their circles to me it is quite possible that I have missed some pretty good photographers.  If I am following you, chances are that you are already in one of these circles or in my "check later" circle.  If you think you have been missed, tag a comment on one of these posts and I will check your profile out for inclusion.  Guidelines for inclusion can be found at:https://plus.google.com/u/0/103752943025677384806/about#circleshare #circlesharing #circleoftheday #handpickedcircles2013-02-07 11:56:4132526113CC G+

Lady Fran W3,302Yet another photography circle BUT ...There are photography circles floating around out there like falling leaves in Autumn; however, this circle has be designed with a goal. To open up the world of Google+ photographers to a newbie. This circle is primarily Australian focused with a reasonable Melbourne contingent (yes, I'm biased!). There is also a splattering of some famous faces and high content providers. By adding this circle to your circles (you can rename it if you like) your stream will without fail, fill with some wonderful talent. Engage with these people, and you will find they will engage back. The more active you are, the more you will find the sentiment returned. I give you my 100% money back guarantee that you will find people in here that inspire, encourage and motivate. Remember, it takes two to tango. Unlike the blue zone (Farcebook), Google+ is a conversation. It's not one way. Post to your hearts content, let us meet you and see your creativity, but be sure to share your knowledge and perspective on our work too. Especially mine of coarse =PThis circle has professionals and enthusiasts alike. There are images coming from high end DSLRs, point-and-shoots and phones alike. Some you'll like, some you'll hate. Trim the circle to your own taste. If you get a notification it's because you're in the circle! To all those in the circle, feel free to keep a copy, share it out, slash and burn, completely ignore, which ever takes your fancy. I apologise for the spammy notification (assuming you get one) but I wanted to ensure you knew that you were shared out in a circle. Consider yourself famous!2012-12-04 05:35:4711327317CC G+

Melbourne Photowalk482This is a circle of people that are photographers who live in Melbourne and are active about town. I'm sharing this circle to help the people who are interested in the +Melbourne Photowalk events get to know each other. I'm not suggesting you get into the circle-a-thon but consider saving it, take a look at the people in it and their work. Maybe you'll find someone interesting to interact with. Once I (+Paul Pavlinovich) get back to my own g+ profile I'll mix this with the circle of Melbourne Photographers I've built up over time and share the bigger circle out again.2012-07-14 01:49:01248524CC G+

Thomas Hawk2,461,0112,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+Part 1 of 4 (A-Ev)This is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle.  I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers.  I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit.  Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle.  Today is the first circle and includes photographers with the last name's A-Ev (although +Marc Evans you are in tomorrow's circle).  A few notes about these circles.  I always get hated on when I share them by people.  Inevitably if I include 2,000 people, I will leave 50,000 people out.  This is not intentional or personal.  This circle is not "the best" photographers on G+ or in the world.  It doesn't mean if you are not in my circle that you are not a "quality" photographer.  This list is simply photographers that I've stumbled across for whatever reason over the past year and have chosen to follow their work.  In some cases I've gotten to know the photographers in this circle personally -- through photowalks and trips, hangouts, in real life, etc.  Many of these people are or have become my friends.  Most of the photographers in my circle though I don't even know.  They are just people whose work I admire and want to consume -- I hope many are future friends.  :)I use some objective criteria with this circle but I use a lot of subjective criteria too.  This is, afterall, my own personal circle that I look at and +1 from every single day.  My aesthetic taste and personal preferences may be very, very different than yours.  This is ok.  Art is subjective.  That said, here a breakdown of my own preferences and biases that influence who I add into my circle.1.  I like people who are active on G+.  If you haven't posted one of your photos in the last month you probably are not in this circle.  I use a script to uncircle inactive people regularly.2.  I like photographers who mostly post their own photographs.  I dislike clutter and "dumb stuff" in my photographers circle.  Excessive reshares, circle shares, memes, gifs, youtube videos, posts not about photography, web links, etc. make me uncircle or move people to a different circle.  I also like photographers who regulate how much of their photography they post to their stream.  I don't want to see 50 shots in a row of someone's vacation.  I think about 5 photos max a day feels about right to me.3.  *Controversial* I dislike signatures and watermarks.  You will find photographers in my circle that use them.  It's just a bias, not a hard and fast rule.  I mostly want this stream to be as watermark/signature free as possible.  I totally understand and respect your reasons and decision for using watermarks/signatures.  I hope you equally respect my decision to not want to consume photos mared up with them.  Please don't turn this into a discussion about watermarks/sigs, I've spent the last 10 years thinking heavily about this issue.  It's just a personal preference and bias.4.  I like people who are active, positive, helpful, enthusiastic G+ community members.  I dislike people who are rude, mean, complainers, trolls, harrasers, etc.  If you say mean things to people, about people, about their art or their work I don't want to follow you.  I'm fine with debate and disagreement.  It should just be done respectfully -- there's a huge difference between respectful disagreement and rude behavior.  Not only will you not be in this circle if you are rude, I'll probably 2012-06-04 16:53:26500235147424CC G+

Peter From35,122The Black & White Circle –– Revised Version #CircleSharingForThePeopleBW2 It's time to reshare my validated and revised Black & White Circle (BWC) with 465 excellent photographers that produce great monochrome images. You don't want to miss that one. I am proud to promote these great people and I am sure they will bring lots and lots of great black & white images to your feeds. If YOU want to hop on the B&W train, do the following:1. Help spread the word and reshare this circle post. Why? If you think you should be promoted, you should be willing to do the same for your fellow photographers. Simple as that.2. Ask for inclusion in the comments. I will check every feed.3. Make sure that you share your own original B&W photography in your feed. If there are too many reshares of other peoples' work, irrelevant YouTube clips, animated GIFS, blog post teasers etc., I might not add you to the circle. The BWC is a validated quality circle that should bring people great monochrome imagery to their feeds. If you only shoot in color or don't have an B&W album, don't ask for inclusion.NOTE! If you see that I have plussed your comment, then you know that I have added you to the next revision of the BWC. I didn't PLUS your comment? Make sure that you have reshared this announcement post and let me know that you did so.This announcement post is hash-tagged with #CircleSharingForThePeopleBW2 so that you may mute the reshares this post will generate. That way you will avoid seeing multiple copies of this post in your feed and your adrenaline level will stay normal. I will add a new hash-tag for every announcement and circle post in the future. That way you won't miss out on any of the action but still can mute all the duplicate reshares. Gailen Mapes9,722Hand Picked Photographers Circles - Nikon Camera A-F - 7 of 14Note: These circles are sorted by camera type and last name. I have had to split some circles because they exceeded 500 members. My last share of the "hand picked" circles was April 26th. As before these circles are photographers that I admire. They also have "more photos, less spam." There have been many additions and a few drops (mostly for spam or inactivity).Be sure to get all 14 circles. Share! If you miss any of the circles they can be found at: +Gailen Mapes and scroll back to May 3rd for this set.I am hard up against the 5000 limit. From here on, I am going to have to become rather more strict about the "spam rules." Essentially if I have to go back more than a screen on your profile before I hit original material, there is a good chance that I may drop you from the circles. Of course there will be mitigating factors...2012-05-03 18:16:45378424CC G+

So even if you don't add this circle, since Google+ requires users to circle a Page before that Page can share their posts, please be sure to add the Page so that we can include your image if/when we select it. Images that have more than a certain number of pluses (To be determined) will be added to the gallery almost without question. The curators of the theme will also pick images to add regardless of the number of pluses. This way, everyone will have a chance of being shown in the "gallery". The gallery shares will generally take place on Thursday or Friday.Hopefully the circle includes everyone that contributed to Monochrome Monday this week, but experience says we missed some. Everyone is important to the success of the theme and we apologize if we missed you.+Charles Lupica +Hans Berendsen +Jerry Johnson +Monochrome Monday and our newest curator +Manuel Votta would like to thank you for joining us this week. See you next week!!If we missed you we're sorry. Please let us know in the comments and I will try to make sure that you are included next week.Note: We want to be up front and transparent as your curators. Many of the people in this circle received a "notification" that we added them to our circles. This is a temporary circle that we have to create based on the tools available to us on this platform to build our circles, and please know that we can't keep everyone in the long term. We will keep people that have circled us as long as we can, but we may need to eventually drop some of the people that added us. #circleshare #sharedcircles +Best Shared Circle ◊◊◊◊2012-04-18 18:00:13468421038CC G+

Alik Griffin5,462PhotographersSo I think I've finally got a pretty solid circle of photographers ready to share. I've been refining this for the last month, adding photographers who have a good eye and aesthetic that I think are good. I like photography that takes you places and allows you to see people and things from all parts of the world from perspectives you've never seen before. I think many of the photographers in this circle do that very well. These are all very active G+ users and should provide your stream with some really nice content. If you are new to G+ you can start growing your network and enhancing your stream with with some of googles greatest. Please share.#photography #photographers #sharedcircles #artists2012-04-13 00:13:54485383034CC G+

"Data security is very important to us, which is why we need to let you know about some developments affecting member accounts created before 7 May 2011.

If you have not changed your password on Catchoftheday.com.au since 7 May 2011, we advise you to change your password. If you have changed your password since that time, no further action on our website is necessary, but we nevertheless encourage our users to regularly change their passwords.

It is always good practice to have unique passwords for every website that you use. If you used the same password for Catchoftheday.com.au as other websites in 2011 we recommend that you change all of those passwords as well.

In early 2011, Catchoftheday and other online retailers were targeted by an illegal cyber intrusion, which compromised names, delivery addresses, email addresses and hashed (encrypted) passwords. In some cases credit card data was compromised. Other websites in our Group were not affected.

At the time, we immediately informed police, banks and credit card companies who assisted us in taking action to protect our users, which included cancelling credit cards and launching investigations into the perpetrators.

We have also since informed the Australian Privacy Commissioner.

With technological advances it means there is an increasing risk that those hashed passwords may become compromised, which is why we are asking all those users with accounts created before 7 May 2011 to change their passwords.

Our security networks are continually evolving and have undergone major upgrades to keep in line with industry standards and best practices. We have better technology, better procedures and a bigger team dedicated to ensuring your experience with us is safe and secure. We regularly undertake external reviews and audits to ensure that our sites and your data are as secure as possible.

We sincerely apologise to our loyal customers that these events occurred and can assure you that we have dedicated significant resources to security and privacy to avoid these events in future.

If you need more information, please read below.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password by logging into your account, clicking 'My Account' in the right hand corner, and then the 'Password' tab.

How do I know if I was affected?

Only accounts created before 7 May 2011 are affected and only those users are receiving this email. If your account was created after that date, you do not have to do anything. However, we recommend all users regularly change their passwords.

What information do you currently have about me?

We generally only store what we need to complete a transaction. We require your name and delivery address details so we can send items to you and your email so we can contact you.

We do not store a full credit card number and payments are processed through a third party bank.

More information about what we collect can be found in our Privacy Policy, viewable here.

Was my credit card compromised?

The incident occurred in late April and early May 2011, when a string of attacks occurred against other online retailers and businesses.

Only a relatively small portion of users had credit card information compromised. The vast majority of users were not affected in this way. Catchoftheday does not store full credit card data and credit card payments are processed through a third party bank.

At the time, the incident was reported to relevant banks and card companies, whom enacted their own fraud prevention measures which included cancelling cards. If you are still concerned, we advise you to contact your bank.

What is password hashing?

Password hashing is similar to encryption, and turns password data into a fixed length code or 'fingerprint', so a password can be securely stored. This is known as a 'hash'. You cannot log into a website using just the hash.

Our passwords are also 'salted', adding an extra layer of protection, and we adopt industry standard protection measures.

What is a good password?

A good password contains a combination of randomised letters (both upper and lower case), numbers and symbols and is over 8 characters long.

What can I do to protect my data online?

While we do everything we can to ensure your data remains secure, regularly changing passwords is your best defence for online security compromises. We advise you change your password at least once every three to four months.

For more information on how to protect data online visit the Privacy Commissioner's website here."___

Come on +Nikon Canada Inc +Nikon USA  - Do the right thing and realise the potential here! Hey +Nikon Australia Get on the phone guys! Share it round people - +Chrysta Rae is more than worth it!

Dear NIKON (+Nikon Canada Inc, +Nikon USA)
Hello,
My name is Chrysta Rae.
I AM a full-time professional photographer - even though you don't consider me one.
I make my living doing interior/architectural photography.

I was a devoted Canon user, until I heard about your amazing 14-24 mm wide angle lens.
Because of that lens, I switched to Nikon.
And I was SO excited and proudly told everyone that I had switched.

I spent ALL of my savings (I am a single Mom, so let me tell you - spending over $5,000 on a brand new Nikon D600, a 14-24 lens, a 28-300 lens, a Nikon SB-700 Speedlight flash was BEYOND my financial limit by a LOT. a LOT.)

My photography changed instantly - the camera is unreal and that lens was worth every penny - BUT day ONE I discovered these spots on every single one of my photos. What the heck?

So I researched. And found out that there were more people with these spots while using the D600.

So - instantly I went back to the retailer I bought the camera from. NO WAY can I go out EVERY day, take between 100 and 1,000 shots AND remove SPOTS from each and every photo. And - I do know about spot removal and sync in Lightroom, but just to make it clear - the spot is in the same spot, but my SHOTS are different - so the spot in one shot is on a wall, the next is on a window/bed/lamp/sky/carpet… so sync does not help me.
The salesman felt awful - as he recommended Nikon, which spurred me into doing the research and eventually led me to switch.

BUT… the only thing he could do for me was to take the camera back, and send it to you. But… I need my camera… every single day… it's how I earn my living. If I don't have my camera, I not only lose income, but potentially clients. They NEED photos - right away - if I don't have a camera, I can't shoot, and they go to another photographer who HAS a camera.

I begged for a loaner camera. How can they sell me over $5,000 of equipment… and NOT HELP ME?!!!

So I called you.
NUMEROUS TIMES.
And all you say is that I am not a "professional photographer" and not a part of your super duper "professional" photographer club BECAUSE I do not own 2 professional camera bodies.

blink, blink

If I HAD two cameras, I wouldn't be in this dilemma! I would happily send the DEFECT camera in to be repaired and not skip a beat. But I do NOT have thousands of dollars laying around to spare for another camera!

So I trudged on. Miserable.

The spots then multiplied. By a lot. To a point where I shed more than a few tears, AND finally had to buy a cleaning kit to try to clean the sensor myself. If you could possibly imagine, not one single place in my city cleans the sensors - which added to my terror of doing it myself.

Thankfully it worked.

For about a week.

And then the spots came back. So I cleaned it again.

And this has continued since July of last year.

I continued to call, to send messages to your Facebook and Google+ community pages, and hoped beyond hope that you would just help me.

But… you didn't. And I am STILL out shooting with a camera I now HATE because of those spots.

I always wondered how on EARTH you could sell me a camera for THAT much money, and it was A DEFECTIVE camera, and NOT HELP ME.

And I am a kind person. I never ONCE did a mean post to you, I never went to my over 1.2 million followers on Google+, NOR my over 250,000 followers on Facebook to SAY how you weren't helping me… because… well I just thought you would come through for me, and I didn't want you to help me simply because I made a stink.

And then yesterday, I read that you are allocating $17.7 MILLION DOLLARS to repair D600 issues and "YOUR REPUTATION".

So… does this mean you will HELP ME?!!!
Could this possibly mean that you will take it upon yourself to help me ) - someone who does a great deal for our beloved photography community - who has begged for help countless times and received not one iota of help other than, "send in your camera and in a few (up to 8 weeks) we will fix it". Does this mean you will possibly make an exception to your exclusive club and consider me an actual professional photographer who deserves a loaner camera while fixing/replacing my PIECE OF CRAPOLA that I worked SO hard to buy?

Could it be that I can MAYBE say that I am a proud Nikon user again?

I have participated in an online experience that cannot be equalled by money or popularity of platform. As I sit here and listen to music and scroll through the endless tide of amazing images, I thank that part of humanity that endures salmon-like,  upstream against the ravaging tide of insincere and cruel entities that would use this amazing medium for anything but good and right. This diatribe is not aimed at individuals and has no political agenda. It is merely a thank-you card at the wrong time of year to all the amazing people on G+. Thankyou

Hey folks, my name's Pete. I work in IT and play music at night. Mainly a guitarist but sing when I need to  :) I'm also well past the 'hobby' stage as a photographer (in that I spend way too much time and money on it!)

Apart from that I'm happily married with 1 little boy and I love snowsports and martial arts.

That's me!

Oh this is so cool!

Mike Dawes -The Impossible - Solo Guitar

Ok...I could say the usual "this is cool"...but
frankly, language here is extremely limited
and abhorrently insufficient.

You MUST watch Mike do his thing (Guitar lover or not).

Rad.

Hey folks, please let me know if it's not cool but I popped a little mashup of a gig I did in 2010 on youtube - Thought some of you might be interested :). Apologies for the audio, especially at the start. I was competing with a lot of rain!

Ok folks, after a few really disappointing attempts at shooting bands I am now looking for an FX camera! I have been shooting with the Nikon D7000 and I love the camera, I really do, but I need to be able to shoot at higher ISO to up my shutter speed to get less motion blur but not the digital grain. So I looked at the D600 and almost pulled the trigger till I found out about the dust / oil on the sensor problem. So now the D610 looks like the money - so now the questions?

Does anyone have one and what is their impression, especially at ISO 1000-1600?
Do you have the same oil / dust issue as the D600?

Big thanks in advance!
