The Economy of likes - Why being followed isn't enough

I don't know how many times I come across somebody who may have a large amount of followers, whether it is a Facebook page or Twitter or MySpace (Just kidding, MySpace is irrelevant) with the "Gotta Collect them all" follower collection philosophy. This person inevitably believes that this somehow gives them Clout (not Klout). It is true that if you have a large "fan base" that you can have wider distribution of your message but the social media experience isn't just about distribution, it's about amplification and what I like to call "The Economy of Likes".

If you are a newspaper, then you can assume that if you have a larger distribution that you have more readers and therefore, more clout. This works because you have to pay for a newspaper. It is a safe bet that everyone who... more »

The confederate flag makes me ill when I see it. I understand that you can have pride in where you come from, if you came from any of the confederate states. You can have pride in your state. However if you support a symbol that has long come to be associated with a certain negative practice, you endorse that practice. Saying that you do not is semantics.

This is my favorite Mcdonald's commercial. It uses #Mindshare  to remind us we already know. How good it felt to go to Mcdonald's when you were a kid. It is not advertising a product, or even a business, but the emotional connection of that business or product.

Attempting meatloaf for the first time...
I called my brother to get the basics since he is married to a half white woman. Also googled some turkey meat loaf recipes and then I started...

Ground turkey, peas , carrots , celery, diced tomato, and yellow onions...garlic and onion powder , a lil chinese soy sauce (I think gives turkey a meaty flavor) old bay, cracked pepper and sea salt. Egg and bread crumbs and achiote red chili . Then wrapped it in bacon.

Put it under tge broiler a few minutes to sear it then put it in oven 350...

Cut some red potatoes with carrots and onions a lil garlic salt n pepper drizzled with olive oil...

Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy to prevent an 87% risk of breast cancer. Many people will probably talk about how strong Brad Pit was to stay with her. I personally find that insulting.

Any decent person would stay with someone after they had a mastectomy. Congratulations Brad Pitt on not being a douchebag. I have long suspected that you were not. Obviously Jolie made a tough decision and I want to thank her for sharing it with the world. She could have easily kept quiet.
