In this challenge pro photographer Douglas Sonders hands in his phase gear (IQ140 on a DF+ body) for two hours to shoot with a battered Holga.... with no view finder. The result is some interesting pictures for sure.

Jens Honoré went to Mali to capture the daily life of the families in a SOS Children’s Villages. The goal for the SOS Children’s Village is to enable children who are at risk of losing their family to grow up within a caring family environment. Together with local authorities and services they help develop different relief programs, such as nutrition-, medical- and educational programs.
The image was announced among the winners of Creative Quarterly 31's photography competition.
We asked Jens about his trip to Mali and how he approached this challenging assignment:
How much time did it take to set up the shoot?
Since I'm a complete stranger photographing mostly children, I only work with available light, meaning daylight, to make them feel comfortable and safe. Being white is already strange enough, starting to set up light would only estrange them more. <... more »

To the ends of the earth with action photographer Tim Kemple: http://owl.li/jHzLg
Tim Kemple's photography is about authenticity, rawness, passion and place. He doesn't take vacations. He pushes himself and his kit to the limits.
Tim explains the lengths he went to on a recent shoot with some of the world's best kayakers in Mexico.
"We were constantly battling the elements: bugs, rain, and slippery cliff edges. The most difficult part though was trying to be creative, and look at the angles with a fresh perspective... all while trying not to slip and fall, while its raining and you are getting eaten alive by bugs. Creativity under extreme circumstances I guess you'd call it."
There are no stadiums full of cheering fans. Instead, I alone catch glimpses of the earth that are rarely seen. I've never been much for souvenirs...
