Mid October, I went up to the Derborence valley in the Valais region in Switzerland very early in the morning. The plan was to shoot the alpine lakes over there with fall colors in soft morning light. In retrospect I could have slept in, as I found out that the light only starts to hit the valley at around 10:30 am. Although mountains are one of my favorite subjects, they do get in the way of light sometimes … ;-)

I used the waiting time to scout the valley a bit better and to look for a lake that I hadn’t found before: Lac Blue. And I found it! It turned out to be a bit of a hidden treasure.
