My contribution for   #widewednesdaypanorama   is today this panorma picture from the famous Zwinger in Dresden.
This 180° panorama was shot with the last light of the day.
Is an beautiful park with amazing buildings and a lot of history.
The whole old town from dresden are really beautiful. So many interessting buildings and so many history is great.
It's amazing that the most of the buildings are destroyed in WW2 and rebuilt in the last decades after war.

So, this lovely flower shot isn't one of mine it's by Ruby Prins the daughter of a good friend of mine and a keen and talented young photographer. Ruby is raising funds to return to #Ghana to do some charity work with Original Volunteers so's she's had the excellent idea of auctioning some of her pictures to raise the money.

So, here's your chance to give some encouragement to a young photographer and do your bit for #charity at the same time!

Here's the link to Ruby's auction site:

This is a Morris Minor, famous British car of the fifties designed by Sir Alex Issigonis, who of course also designed the Mini. This one's seen better days, but it still looks amazing, even neglected and rusting. In fact, I don't think I've seen a more appealing roadside wreck.

I'd driven past this many times thinking 'I must stop and get a shot of that one day' and last week, in the early afternoon with the light fading and the winter sun low on the horizon was that day.

This is for #squaresunday curated by +Tom Golson and myself.

It's been another great  week full of fantastic entries. Apart from all the great panoramas, one of the best things about WWP is the degree of community involvement so, whether you're posting an image or not, do make sure to take a look at other people's submissions and leave a comment.

Unleashed energy
Niagara Falls, ON

Shooting conditions in Niagara Falls are horrible: people everywhere, mist all around the waterfalls and I was there around noon.... I really recommend going early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get a better light.

Also, going at the bottom of the waterfall is a must. The path goes under it in the rock, but there isn't much to see. Outside however, it's a great view! Just be prepared to wipe your lens!

I was in Cambridge last weekend, amazed to see tourists punting on the river in the snow and sub-zero temperatures.

A twisted juniper frames the "back" of the main formations in Zion National Park during a clearing summer monsoon storm taken along a BLM scenic back road in southern Utah.

BEST VIEWED LARGE

Digital capture with a Nikon D3x camera and Nikon 14-24mm wide angle zoom. I spent over an hour at this location framing different compositions of the tree and the Zion formations and the storm provided some spectacular additions to the images.

Forever.

I have the pleasure to present at a conference this weekend in San Antonio and have been struggling to find time for plus.  However, I thought I would try and login today at lunch and post another photo from the snow storm we experienced over Christmas.  I love how this fence feels like it could go on forever!  Kind of like my to-do list right now :)

Sony NEX 6 review - Wifi, apps, great quality and handling!

Sony's NEX 6 is one of the most exciting mirror-less cameras we've tested so far. It inherits many of the best parts of the flagship NEX-7, but adds a hybrid AF system, proper mode dial and built-in Wifi with downloadable apps to extend the camera's connectivity and capabilities. Oh, and it's cheaper too and available in an optional kit with the brand new Sony 16-50mm pancake zoom lens. There's a lot to like here.

In our in-depth review, +Ken McMahon and I have really put the NEX-6 through its paces. Like all the reviews at Cameralabs, we've put a lot of effort into the details and performed loads of real-life tests to reveal not just how the quality and handling measures-up, but also exactly what the Wifi and downloadable apps can do for you. This is way more than just a mere mention of the new... more »

It seems there's no putting you lot off! Despite my notification that we'd be taking a break from #widewednesdaypanorama until next Wednesday, you carried on regardless and there were so many great posts to the theme it was impossible to ignore them. So here's the shared circle for this week to say thanks to everyone who participated

As always, we tried to view and comment on everyone's entries (especially if you mentioned us directly in the post) and hopefully this circle includes everyone that contributed, but experience says we missed some. So if you participated, but we missed you, please don't feel too aggrieved or disappointed, hopefully we'll spot you next time.

So until next Wednesday, when we look forward to seeing loads more great panoramas have a great week!

Never been to a hunt before before, but ended up in Helston, Cornwall after the football was rained off on Boxing day. I suppose this fella typifies what most people think of when they think of hunting. It was quite a spectacle and brightened up a miserable rainy day. Then there was carol singing and Morris dancing in the pub. And of course drinking!

─────────────────────────────────────────

That's it  for another week of #widewednesdaypanorama   except to say a big thankyou to everyone who took part. This week's WWP saw a huge number of participants with lots of people sharing and commenting on work, which is really great to see. As I haven't shared a circle for a while I've made a combined circle of participants from the past couple of weeks.

We tried to view and comment on everyone's entries(especially if you mentioned us directly in the post) and hopefully this circle includes everyone that contributed, but experience says we missed some. So if you participated, but we missed you, please don't feel too aggrieved or disappointed,... more »

Yay! #instagram retracts!

So is anyone else thinking about ditching #instagram after the recent furore?

I've held fire until now, after all, there's no rush as the new T&Cs don't come into effect for another 29 days, but my gut feeling at the moment is it's not worth the risk.

It's not what Instagram says or doesn't say that concerns me so much, after all, they said one thing, then, when that didn't go down so well they said another, which only served to confuse the situation, rather than clarify it. No, what bothers me more is entrusting my pictures to an organisation with a culture that thinks it's OK to take ownership of my images without first asking me what I think or giving me the opportunity to opt out.

Of all the stuff I've read over the last couple of days I think +Dan Lyons post on readwrite.com chimes best with what I'm feeling. I don't... more »

As this is the last #widewednesdaypanorama before Christmas I thought it would be nice to reshare this panorama of the Christmas lights at Mousehole harbour in Cornwall. This was my first ever contribution to #widewednesdaypanorama almost a year ago to the day.
Don't miss out today on your last chance to contribute a panorama before Christmas gets underway. I'll be taking the next two Wednesdays off, So the next official Widewdnesdaypanorama will be on Wednesday February 9.

A post made by +Charles Lupica prompted me to search back for something I'd done a while ago and I discovered this. Charles revisited an old shot he didn't rate when he took it, but subsequently turned it into an impressive panorama. This is something a little different. When I first saw this I knew I had something a bit special, the irony is I didn't really compose the shot at all. I took this in May 2006 in Truro Cathedral for a 360 VR pano I was producing. At the time I was using my Canon EOS 20D with the 10-22mm EF-S wide angle zoom. This combination required 14 shots to create a full 360VR, two rows of 6 plus up and down. When you have to produce that many images, after you've set up, it becomes something of a routine and you don't pay much attention to what you can see through the viewfinder, if you look at all, at least I didn't. But when I was browsing through the shots... more »

This is for #squaresunday curated by +Tom Golson and myself. We've had a lot of rain here in the South West of England in the past 24 hours and there's been some serious flooding. With the ground saturated and more rain on the way it isn't looking good. Best of luck to all those trying to keep the water out of their homes.

Gang of Four
Amboseli National Park, Kenya

The two elephants on the left appear to be two toned because they spent time in the marsh, and the dark parts of their bodies shows how far they were submerged. After a good soak, they head back to the base of Kilimanjaro until the next day when they return to Amboseli for more spa time.

This is a view over the upper Khumbu Glacier leading the way for climbers to the highest mountain in the world. Mount Everest is the black peak, which seems lower than Nuptse, but Nuptse is closer.

An interesting mix of HDR, Pano stitching and Tilt/shift as I used the 24mm T/s lens and bracketed 3x3 exposures.

Sunny Corner
Midweek means it's time for another #widewednesdaypanorama . I'll be sharing some of the theme contributions with you throughout the day but for now here's one of my own. This place is actually called Sunny Corner, for reasons which are obvious. I caught it last week on a particularly warm-looking November early evening.

For those of you who like to know the technical stuff, this is a 6 image pano with five bracketed shots for each image HDR merged in Photoshop CS6 and stitched in PTGui 9.

Originally it had a much wider angle of view, but I cropped it right down on the right for a better composition.

The BRAND NEW Google+ Pages & Themes Circle –– Announcement Post

#CircleSharingForThePeoplePTC

This circle is a bit different than the rest of my shared circles, but it will be a perfect one to add. The focus of the circle will be PAGES and THEMES around photography. Like the Yellow Pages of Pages & Themes on Google+. Pages will be shared in a circle and themes without a page will be listed on a Google+ Page that I will create.

Who can ask for inclusion?

If you have a page (not your normal account but a separate page) focusing on photography (personal photo pages are ok) and/or curate a theme, then this is the circle you want to be in. Commercial photo pages are as welcome as pages/themes from amateurs.

Examples: A theme page would be +Curvy Friday and it's theme hash would be #curvyfriday .

Canon PowerShot G15 review!

Canon's PowerShot G15 is the latest model in the company's flagship G-series, replacing the G12 and positioned roughly between the S110 and G1 X. The G15 shares the same 28-140mm 5x range as its predecessor, but now boasts a focal ratio of f1.8-2.8, making the lens more than twice as bright. The sensor remains 1/1.7in, but Canon's switched from CCD to CMOS and bumped the resolution up to 12 Megapixels. It'll also now shoot 1080p video and the screen's bigger and more detailed. Is it still a relevant option for enthusiasts though? Find out in +Ken McMahon 's Canon G15 review at Cameralabs!

It's time for another #squaresunday everyone. As curators, myself and +Tom Golson have been adding contributors to the theme to a #squaresunday circle. I'm sharing this circle here to give anyone who wants to take part an opportunity to get to know others who have been contributing to the theme over the past few weeks, whether by sharing images or engaging in the dialogue by commenting.

So, my advice would be to add the circle, take a look a look and comment on the work of earlier posters before posting your own square contribution to the theme. That way, you'll be much more likely to get some response to your own work.

As usual, we'll be adding everyone who posts an image or makes a comment to a new circle which we'll share next week.

Nikon D600 review - it's a cracker!

+Ken McMahon and I have just finished our Nikon D600 review and it's a cracker with no less than seven pages of results comparing it against 24 Megapixel DX and 36 Megapixel FX bodies! So whether you're upgrading from DX or looking for an affordable backup to a pro body, we've got the answers you're looking for!

The D600 is Nikon's most affordable full-frame DSLR to date and slots roughly between the D7000 and D800, combining many aspects of both. Along with a new 24 Megapixel FX sensor, you get the 100% viewfinder and 3.2in screen of the D800 in addition to most of its movie features, along with the build and twin SD card slots of the D7000. Coupled with a 39-point AF system and 5.5fps shooting, it adds up to one of the most exciting DSLRs around.

Find out if it's right for you in our in-depth Nikon D600re... more »
