I’m sure you guys are now sitting there saying to yourself, “I don’t do that”. Heterosexual males cannot help themselves. It is innate to their beings. They look at women as potential mates and part of the territory they would like to claim. Even if she is not your type, if you spend enough time with a female and get along with her, you will have a fleeting second or two of hmmmmm’ pass through that mind of yours. Tell me I’m wrong.

Most of us will not have had first-hand experience knowing if we would forgive someone who has purposefully taken the life of a loved one. We may sit there and wonder if it would be plausible for us to do so. If we are innately good people we may say “It would be hard, but I would try”. Or you may tell yourself that forgiveness is up to God and move on.
In my mind forgiving someone comes when an instance occurs that is not intended to harm. When there is negligence or purpose behind an act inducing harm, then forgiveness is not as simple to enact.
What do you do though when personally faced with a situation like this that is life altering in many ways?

Cook Something Bold Day
Cook Something Bold Day is designed to encourage us to cook something bold and daring, that will fill up the house with warm, "homey" odors. It is celebrated in the month of November, as houses are closed up for the winter, and capture the cooking smells.

Today is National Bologna Day!
This brings back some fond memories for me. As a child I hadn't the opportunity to walk into a grocery store like we do today until I was 11 years old. Previous to that we bought our bread at the bakery (or made it at home), our fruits and vegetables from the greengrocer, our pastas from the Italian lady who set up shop 6 days a week at the open air market.
The best part of shopping was visiting the butcher for our meat. After choosing which live chicken was going home with us sans head, feet and feathers, we'd wait in line patiently waiting for our turn at the glass fronted cabinet. Listening to the sounds I could hear the butcher asking how much stew meat Mrs. Holyfield needed and explain to Mrs. Wolcomb how to prepare the fresh batch of city chicken as the thunks of knives cleaved bones and meat away from sides of beef and pork.

So has the revolution that Free To Be … You and Me helped herald been won, because our kids are free to be successful and stressed out, just like us? Has it been lost, because a generation of parents tried to get their daughters to play with trucks and their sons to play with dolls—and failed. And could an album like Free To Be ever be made today? Leaving aside the obvious problem that “albums” basically no longer exist, would a bunch of 2012-era celebrities—I’m talking Jay-Z and Beyoncé caliber stars—donate their talents to a project championing feminism, fighting gender essentialism, and telling boys that it’s all right to cry?
For that matter, how did it ever get made in 1972?

There is so much about this article that scares me. While the idea of helping children is #1 on my personal list of societal priorities, is handing out chemicals, some of which are addictive and have problematic side effects, the answer?

Don't you love it when something wakens you in the middle of the night?
You'll be sound asleep dreaming, body relaxed and totally out of it. Then all of a sudden, wham! Your eyes pop open, you look at the clock and realize it is 2:47 in the morning. The first jolt of adrenaline rushes through your blood. Did I hear a noise? Is something wrong? If you have kids, your reaction could be, are they sick? If alone it could be, is there someone trying to get in? As you do this mental check list you also listen to any and all sounds that might be out there. After eons (which is probably no more than a minute) if nothing untoward is going on, you shake your head and wonder, what the heck woke me up?
By this time your heart is racing, the adrenaline is kicking in nicely and now that you're awake maybe a trip to the bathroom wouldn't me amiss. You toddle yourself in that direction... more »

Today is World Menopause Day.
For many the term menopause is cause for jokes about raging hormones and hot flashes. For others it's a sign that we are aging and our youth is now a memory not a daily experience.
What few realize is the health changes that occur during this time aren't just relegated to hormonal changes we females have no control over. Menopause affects our bodies in multiple ways and how we treat our bodies, and minds, requires lifestyle changes.
The International Menopause Society (IMS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have made it their goal to help women and medical health professionals understand these changes to allow women everywhere the chance to continue to live healthy and active lives.

The Like-A-Hug project is a "wearable social media vest", developed by Melissa Kit Chow in collaboration with Andy Payne and Phil Seaton, as part of the MIT Media Lab's Tangible Media Group.
The vest, which looks like a slinky black bodywarmer, is designed to inflate like a lifejacket when friends "like" a photo, video, or status update on the wearer's Facebook wall, "thereby allowing us to feel the warmth, encouragement, support, or love that we feel when we receive hugs," says Chow.

When online influence becomes something that can be quantified, boiled down to a two digit number like a Klout score, it inevitably turns into a double-edged sword. The press reacted with outrage recently when Joe Fernandez tweeted about a Salesforce posting that said it would only consider job seekers for a position who had a Klout score of 35 or more. Students were up in arms when Todd Bacile, who teaches marketing at Florida State University, decided to start grading his class based on their Klout score, after it was cited by multiple hiring managers as part of the interview process. It's Simple
When did life and living become so complicated? How did we end up putting so much pressure on ourselves to have more, that we forgot what it is to see life as it should be?
As children most of us live in insular little pockets. The world is a big place we can only see through television and movies. We know what our neighborhood is like. We see how our friends live. Through the magic that is media we become inundated with commercials of this toy and that toy being THE thing to have. The mantra of gimme, gimme, gimme resonates throughout the house.
Growing into puberty we become more social creatures. The peer pressure of not being "different" assails us at every turn. Therefore we just HAVE to have the latest (fill in the blank) because so-and-so does and you don't want me to be "different" do you? The mantra of I want, I want, ... more »

Millions of people around the world are ashamed or embarrassed by their bodies. Women especially. We are inundated constantly by greedy advertisers, men’s magazines and insecure peers telling us what our bodies should be like. We learn to cover our flaws, add on to nature or cut away what we see as offensive just so that we won’t be rejected.

A leader must understand, in my opinion, the people he or she is leading. Not just the people who attend the $50,000/plate dinners. All of the people. Even scumbags like me who go to work every day, 7:30-5, who don’t have fancy cars or more than two rooms to my name. I’m one of the people you’re supposed to touch with your ideas. And your touch has done nothing but left me cold. You should have been talking to me. You should both be ashamed of yourselves.

It used to be a window. Sometime in the past a previous owner or tenant must have decided that replacing the glass would be too costly. Instead, a door was fashioned that only latched from the inside. When opened, if you were careful, you could crawl through the opening into a wonderland!
