Quinto vs Nimoy

Having just seen the latest Star Trek movie, I figured this Audi commercial starring Zachary Quinto & Leonard Nimoy deserved another share into the stream... I never loved a car commercial so much.  

P.S. Star Trek Into Darkness is definitely a worthwhile movie to see... was definitely better than I expected.

It's Wednesday, and the stream was fubar yesterday, so here's a circle cuz now it's blue and cool. Kicking Off Mother's Day Weekend

Growing up, my mom always made sure we had fun things to do, and fun places to visit.  We spent many summers at places like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farms, and Sea World, as well as enjoying breathtaking places like Lake Tahoe and other National Parks around the country.

Thanks Mom, for continuing to challenge me to get out and explore. <3

So, +Christopher Lira & Gladis were in Vegas over the weekend for a cancer seminar... Christopher brought back a bunch of swag from the convention and before he left town, he left me with a big squishy boob and a couple of love my nuts stickers... I'm assuming both pieces of swag are meant as reminders to check yourself for lumps n stuff...

YouTube Ad Accuracy Is Scary

So, I passed a billboard on my way home tonight announcing that they're re-opening the Wet-n-Wild water park here in Vegas... I remember thinking, I should look it up when I got home (which I promptly forgot about)... Then I followed a YouTube link from a post, and the first ad I see was for the water park... creepy stuff Google... accurate and helpful... but creepy. :)

NASA used a 3DRobotics ArduCopter to autonomously film its latest Robotic Lunar Lander test flight. From the writeup:

"We've been using the ArduCopter platform at Marshall Space Flight Center for almost a year now.  We started with a 3DR Quad and have several 3DR Hex vehicles.  We're using them to test their capabilities for aerial reconnaissance as well as search and rescue.  This past week we used our Quad with a GoPro Hero3 to film a test flight of the Robotic Lunar Lander.  It was a fully autonomous flight (takeoff, ascent to 100' altitude, transit to loiter position, RTL once filming is complete, and landing).  As you can see from the video, we got some amazing footage from a very unique vantage point.  Thanks to 3DR and the devs for all your help and assistance! "

This project started after the announcement of Disney buying Marvel comics and all the the fans started making Pixar / Avengers images. Well I was not terribly happy with the images that they were doing, so I tried to do better. Most of what I saw was recoloured images from "The Incredibles" movie screen grabs.

Mainly, this was just another way to better know Photoshop and I used the same rules as when I did those "Star Wars" posters. Just collected a lot of images using Google, cut and pasted them together, and this is what you get. I put them in a format that makes them look like those movie & comic trading cardsI... more »

Star Wars toy nostalgia

I remember getting an Imperial Shuttle for Christmas one year when I was a kid... My parents had the unwrapped box hidden somewhere in the house before the holiday and I stumbled across it... I was so excited when I found it, I opened it, assembled it, put all the decals on it, played with it for a bit, then carefully repacked it in the box to cover my tracks... 

Come Christmas morning, I opened the large wrapped box and did my best to feign surprise (I thought I was a pretty good actor at the time)... my charade held up till I opened the box and took it out and my parents noticed all the stickers were already on the toy... I tried to play it off saying something along the lines of "hey, it's cool that it comes with all the stickers on it"... I don't think they bought it and just shook their heads.

First Tests For Fusion-Powered Spaceship Propulsion Successful

University of Washington researchers and scientists at a Redmond-based space-propulsion company are currently building components of a fusion-powered rocket, which could enable astronauts to travel to Earth’s neighboring planet Mars within weeks instead of months, at speeds considerably faster than feasible until now. The current travel speeds using fuel rockets make Mars travel a journey of about four years but the new fusion technology being tested by researchers at the University of Washington promises that in 30 to 90 days.
