Hey, #Googleplusupdate : What happened to 'View all notifications' in a format where I can actually see all the posts as I do my stream? Scrolling through a little tab, esp. one where having the cursor nywhere near a name brings up a (relativistically) huge name that blocks the view, absolutely sucks ballz!

Each night on my last work break at 3am, I've noticed a humid feel to the air that tells me we're getting closer to the monsoon season. I'm eagerly awaiting it! This is from a couple years ago, reworked with improved software, if not technique. #thunderstormthursday , her we come!

Earlier this month, we held a week-long contest where citizen astronomers from across the globe could submit entries of photographs they've taken of our Amazing Universe. The submissions were absolutely phenomenal and I've had such a difficult time trying to decide upon some winners.

This is not my photograph! The honors belong to +Shane Miller , a good friend from 'back in the day'. He showed me a fine shot he took of the moon, and I processed it for him, on the fly. Here's the result. f/10, 1/200th sec, 300mm (480 eff.)

Shiat. I've got a project to complete. I've lost a week's worth of time away from work because business is now good and we're no longer on furlough (I had counted on having that time for this task!!). I have at least 30 hours of photoshop work ahead of me, probably more; I've asked myself to push my skills beyond what I've done for something truly special. And...the clock, rusted as it is...is ticking.

These are tiny aphid babies, only a millimeter long each. They are parasites to the Fringed Twinevine ( Funastrum cynanchoides ) that is, in turn, being a parasite to the Mexican Brid of Paradise plant outside my apt. Can't tell you much about her, but she's about 1/2 inch long and sitting on a Mexican bird of paradise plant. I liked the colors. For #macromonday sub-themed 'bugs', with +Kerry Murphy , +Kelli Seeger Kim , +Jennifer Eden , and +Jake Easley. Lens is a kit lens married to the 1879 petzval, which becomes a nice macro combination. #darlotproject

Don't you hate when you post a shot you think is nice, and then as you continue along with your processing, you come across't the same subject, but a little better, and you want to post it, but you feel guilty if you do? Me neither.
For +Edward Bartel, eyes on focus. Some nice detail of wing structure near the body, also.

So here's Volume II. I went with color, and intentionally went for a feel that reminds me of snaps from the 1960's; popping the cyan via greens and breaking out what few reds existed (this is less evident when clouds had moved into the sky). And some I tweeked for especially high-key. With so many images to choose from, it's likely I'll revisit these shots many times. Chris is here on the 'cover', Colby is the brunette in the blue shirt, and Ryan has the blond beard.
