NEW G+ LAYOUT!
I'm liking it. I'm not one to bitch and moan. If it's shiny and new and pretty I'll likely go with the flow. I can live with this. Na wuckers... but It's going to take a little getting used to, and the first thing I'm already noticing, is the ease at which I am going to miss posts. My eyeballs can't keep up with three columns... yet!

I need YOUR help
I am trying to choose an image to have printed onto a canvas. This will be the first image of my own that I will have printed up and be proud enough to hang it on the wall in my home.
So I shortlisted. It was, admittedly, quite a surprising. I didn't expect to find many photos in my collection that I thought were print worthy. It was quite heartwarming (albeit I'm not 100% convinced on everything in this album).
The challenge though, is to choose just one!

My weekend took me to provincial New South Wales. I'll admit that I was not expecting much. There's not a great deal in Gandagai itself. Know for the 'Dog on the Tuckerbox' (http://goo.gl/YaYDy), the song, and the burial site of famed bushranger Captain Moonlight, there's little else there. An old regional town with a handful of pubs (of course), a footy team, and ... well no and really.

This is one of those spots in Melbourne that I just love to go, set up the camera and tripod, and sit in the stillness of night watching the gentle flow of the river.

For me, that's books. It's time out in a quite place full of stories. When I feel like I'm running on empty, and I need to refuel, a space like this recharges. Nourishing the mind, and rebooting to clear out the noise from a busy day, is as essential as a hearty meal.

Photographers - advice of which is worth taking note
No weather sealing, filters, etc are going to keep this stuff out.
It's a shame as the events look awesome and have huge potential for some spectacular shots... but you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? At the very least, if you're going to risk it, might I suggest some darn good insurance. =P

RECIPE - Slow cooker Texan Pulled Pork
For those who were interested in the recipe I have used for tonight's meat feast, below are all the details. I have now tried this recipe and can confirm that it works a treat, as described, and easily fed five adults and a hungry 11-year-old, with plenty of left overs for lunch tomorrow. Note: I left the chilli powder out as there were a variety of tastes at the table. I instead opted for a bottle of Tabasco on the table for people to add to their own tastes.
Ingredients
1 pork shoulder roast
(4 pound - I used a two kilo shoulder and removed the rind/crackling before cooking)
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 extra large onion, chopped
1 cup barbeque sauce (I opted for a high quality, think, smokey sauce)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/4 cup brown sugar

Brunswalk; Where sparks flew
The grand wizard of poi, +Charles Strebor was in town from his Northern hideaway, and so a Melbourne photowalk seemed most appropriate for meeting, greeting, twirling and drinking. In true +Melbourne Photowalk tradition, the evening was topped off with a nourishment of both the food and liquid kind. This time a true gem; the bowls club at the corner of Royal Parade and Park Street hosts Fancy Hanks BBQ who do pulled pork and other carnivorous delicacies to perfection. Greasy hands, full tummies and flowing cider made for the end of a very pleasant day.
A huge kudos to +Charles Strebor +Paul Pavlinovich and +Peter Novacco for taking flame in hand and risking eyebrow loss. Also to +Dots To Spots Printing for their never wavering support in the form off competitions and prizes.

What a sad day. Two children have lost their lives today, just on different ends of the same gun. This will be ruled a tragic accident, and in many ways it is, but will these parents be held accountable? Dog owners are held accountable for an attack by their pet. Should an adult not be considered responsible for putting a weapon in the hands of a child?
