**Which mondegreen would you like to discuss?**
Please reference the screenshot below.
One that comes off the top of my head is from the Michael Jackson song "Smooth Criminal".
What I heard: "Eddie are you walking, so Eddie are you walking, are you walking Eddie?"
What was really being sung: "Annie are you okay, so Annie are you okay, are you okay Annie?"
I cannot help but smile at all the lyrics I thought I had been hearing all these years from various songs that were incorrect. :-)
Please share your misheard boo boos!

**Confession of the Day: Rumor frightens me**
Being the source-oriented society that we are, it is not WHAT is said; it's WHERE it came from. And to me, that is dangerous. To blindly believe or reject any information based on its source makes little sense to me. I don't believe there is such thing as an individual, group, newspaper (independent or otherwise) or a news channel that can be viewed in black and white terms. To trust one party more than another does make sense, but to think that what you're hearing is completely true and completely true all of the time is too convenient - too romantic. We also must think not only about what is being discussed, but what is being omitted? Were you given the WHOLE story? Were you given ALL the sides to the story? Was it delivered dispassionately enough so that you could make up your own mind without relying on someone to... more »

Love is a Battlefield - Literal video version
Another one of my favorite literal music videos (parody). (I can never look at the original the same way again!)

Literal Music Video - Journey - Separate Ways
"A literal music video, also called a literal video version, is a parody of an official music video clip in which the lyrics have been replaced with lyrics that describe the visuals in the video.[1]" --Wikipedia
These kinds of videos are meant to be funny and most of them are. If not funny very clever, in my opinion.

**Humanity is around us**
This is proof that there are still good people out there. In a world where only the trouble-makers make the headlines, the unseen is this very video. This heartwarming act of sportsmanship and other acts of random kindness go buried.....
That's if we let it.
Today, and as much as I can, I want to celebrate what online newspapers, online bloggers, the television, and online social media tell-alls don't cover: the good stuff.
If you spend too much time online, you can become depressed, hopeless, nihilistic, and defeatist. The truth, the way I see it, is that there are more good caring people out there than not. They just don't get coverage, plusses, likes, thumbs up, and the attention they deserve.
A positive humanity is around us if only we filter OUT the negativity and look th... more »

**Relationships AND Empathy**
This is a post that +Scott Swain shared in a community that I am a part of. From the way he spoke, he wants this to be seen by a large group of people if possible. Clicking on the link below, I can see why: http://www.clearsay.net/i_want_to_go_out.asp
"Here is an example of the thing I love most, Nonviolent Communication, in action:
"I WANT TO GO OUT & YOU WANT TO STAY IN"
"A couple butting heads about what activity to do together. She wants to go out and he wants to stay in. These "wants" are strategies to get needs met. They choose to go below strategies to investigate the needs-that-inform-those-strategies using Nonviolent Communication (NVC). This allows them to see there are other strategies to meet their needs. So when each "player" sees there are multiple ways (strategies) to g... more »

Frightening. But important to watch if you take prescription drugs or have an interest in Science. Because if it can happen in this department, it can happen anywhere. No reason for paranoia, okay? But a bit of healthy skepticism cannot hurt.

**Should we compare ourselves to others to determine our self-worth?**
Is jealousy necessary or a waste of time?
"When I was a kid I used to get really jealous whenever one of my friends had something really exciting happen to them. I remember when my best friend – I’ll call her Melissa - got to take horseback riding lessons. I seethed with jealousy. Really. Seethed. I thought it was so unfair that she got to do something that fun and I didn’t. I was angry at her. I was jealous. This was probably somewhat normal, but it was a really dark feeling." --Erin Pavlina
Does the worst of jealousy take place when individuals begin to envy another person's suffering because it's the attention they sought but never got when younger?
Could the core cause of jealousy be when parents compare their siblings against one another? Or have them c... more »

**DON'T WORRY; BE HAPPY**
It's that easy!
But does this work?
If simply saying "be happy" ...where people could just flip a switch and make it happen. From my own experience, it doesn't work. For the most part, I'm a happy-go-lucky person. So when "be happy" is told to me when I'm already feeling good, I feel sad because I'd expect my fellow humans to be complex enough to grasp that the human experience is not that simple. I think the person must be not closely tuned into the world or is having a bad day. I ponder that when we're feeling at our worst, we use even more platitudes. When people are truly happy, they leave others alone.
If I'm not feeling well and am told to "be happy", I feel worse because the one demanding that we all be happy is using a simple lens to view a complex ... more »

The internet is turning us into a bunch of curmudgeons
Here's the thing about the internet -- it's cool to hate things. Rant posts tend to get a lot more attention and reshares than posts about something positive. Browsing comment sections here on Google+ about, say, the Myspace redesign, you'll consistently find the "Who even uses myspace anymore? hahahahaha" comments far outnumber the ones conceding that the redesign is actually beautiful. And in the ever-ensuing tech wars, people don't just prefer one brand over another, people seem to develop a personal, spiteful vendetta against a particular brand and anyone who opts to buy from it. These are just a few examples that freshly come to mind.
When looking into why negativity is so popular on the internet I came across this nugget of insight from a blog post that made sense:
"There’s an un... more »

This is just a boatload of awesome right here.
Blessed that I got to witness this. I felt emotional just by his description of the event. Wow! Some parts were funny too. The whole cat family is just the coolest of creatures in my opinion. But this video is not what you think. I don't want to spoil it for you, so just watch it. It's very short, but very powerful.

**CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL CURIOSITY DAY**
Has your curiosity hugged the color gray today?
"Do you see people in black and white? They are either good or bad. Saints or sinners. We should leave that manichean view to the fairytales where one is either an innocent princess or a wicked witch. In reality, there are many shades of gray in between. And humans are rather colorful." Source: http://bit.ly/59X7S
I believe nations and other entities work the same way. While there may be beauty and ugly, convenience and inconvenience in every country or in every culture, there is also a lot of in-between-ness that only time-consuming curiosity can resolve.

Sign Petition and Tell Obama We Oppose Monsanto's Man Michael Taylor as Head Of FDA
Then Share to All
"President Obama, I oppose your appointment of Michael Taylor, a former VP and lobbyist for Monsanto, the widely criticized genetically modified (GM) food multinational, as senior advisor to the commissioner at the FDA. Taylor is the same person who as a high-ranking official at the FDA in the 1990s promoted allowing genetically modified organisms into the U.S. food supply without undergoing a single test to determine their safety or risks. This is a travesty.
Taylor was in charge of policy for Monsanto's now-discredited GM bovine growth hormone (rBGH), which is opposed by many medical and hospital organizations. It was Michael Taylor... more »

I admit that I am one of those notorious crazy cat ladies that you hear about. If you only knew the details, you'd probably have me locked up! For example, I see my cat being superior to myself, I talk to her, find her to be wise, I feel humbled in her presence, I find h... more »

I'm a modified-omnivore when it comes to food. I'm not wound up too tightly in this regard with an exception to certain meats and I don't eat fast food. But food fraud like this is just wrong. No reason to be hyper-paranoid, but reason to be careful no matter where you live. What they don't tell you (the global-collective "you" as it's happening in other countries as well) could possibly fill libraries.

**Just BEET It**
:-)
I created my own juicing recipe and this has been the most delicious thus far.
--1 red bell pepper
--1/2 lemon
--a tiny piece of ginger root
--1 smallish medium-sized beet (yummmmmmmmmmmm!)
--tiny slithers of garlic
--1 pear
--3 carrots
--1 whole big package of kale
--1 huge cucumber
Just be careful not to add too much ginger! I made that mistake once, but drank it all up anyway.
I love juicing because I never used to like chewing/eating/digesting vegetables albeit a few exceptions. So by juicing, I get to eat TONS of produce in the most tasty and efficient way possible. Everyone's different, but it's the way I prefer to consume them anyway. Since I've begun juicing, I have felt so energetic and my health problems don't feel as severe as before. ... more »

The Mind ~ Power Tool of Creation
The Mind is both the Human’s Achilles’ Heal and Strength... From tender, young ages the majority of Humans are woven into an intricate web of Mind control... The “educative” focus being the Mind, and a structure which sets children in competition AGAINST One another...
IQ being the Mean by which an individual’s potential usefulness in society is rated... The success of a Child is rated by their ability to conform and apply Memory... Even within the Creative Arts there is little Freedom granted for a Child to Express their TRUE SELVES...
O, let us not forget, that the Physical Body is also taught to compete... Break-time in playgrounds across the Land are filled with children playing competitive sports... There is Always a Winner and a Loser...

**Child abuse can cause cancer**
Heart attacks also included...
"People often say that children are resilient and they'll bounce back, but we found that there are events that can have long-term consequences on adult health," said Kenneth Ferraro, distinguished professor of sociology and director of Purdue's Center on Aging and the Life Course. "In this case, people who were frequently emotionally or physically abused by their parents were more likely to have cancer in adulthood, and the link was greater when fathers abused sons and mothers abused daughters. Overall, the more frequent and intense the abuse, the more it elevated the cancer risk.
"We would like to see child abuse noted as an environmental factor that can increase cancer occurrence in adulthood. More research on this topic also could help mediate the effects or improve i... more »

**ALL Suffering Counts**
I dislike the below image.
This image you see down below has been floating around on the web for a few years now. I don't know the original creator nor do I know if the statistics are correct, but I do have an opinion on it. While this is true and factual (to a degree or not), feelings small or big should never be belittled. One’s suffering should never be compared to that of another.
“There exists such a thing as boasting about misery. One sentence in ‘Cruel’ deals with that: ‘Dance with the Sufis celebrate your top ten in the charts of pain’. When I had a miscarriage, there were people who said: ‘Yes, but you only lost an unborn child. Our son was murdered!’ For some people things aren’t bad enough as it is. And some hang on to the fact that The Most Terrible Thing happened to them: they entered at #1 in the charts of pain. And then ... more »

**LIFE IS A TRICKY BALANCE**
And why curiosity matters so much in spite of it being a pain in the boob!
I'd recommend to research extensively anything this extreme before giving it a try. I sympathize this woman's desire for a new path and for a sense of well-being. However, it's not so much the lifestyle she chose that killed her, but the lack of thorough research and curiosity that did her in.
I've been there. I can relate to a degree. For every medical opinion out there, I'd reckon there are probably hundreds of opinions that counter it or provide similar alternatives. It takes great pains on all levels to read up on every angle, every case study, and to gather enough evidence. But in the end in spite of the hassle, it just may save lives.
Just to add to the complexity of it all? Every human body IS different
