Look what I got in the mail today!

All the way from a garage in California to my home in Canberra, Australia. My copy of the 2012 +Plus One Collection collated and lovingly produced by +Ivan Makarov. It looks (and smells) fantastic. Wow ... there are so many great photographs in there ... G+ is full of very talented people. Also lovely to see works you recognise because you're so familiar with the artists expanding body of work ... I include +Sandra Parlow , +John Kosmopoulos , +Andy Gray , +helen sotiriadis and +Kerry Murphy amongst those ... there are a lot of photographers I've not seen before and whom I'll definitely be checking out :-)

So overall a big thank you to +Ivan Makarov  and everyone else involved in the Plus One project ... thank you and well done!

Access All Areas

Optical Galaxy IV
I did a band shoot on Sunday morning with a 9-piece Latin band. It was minus 4C when I arrived at 0730 ... whose bloody idea was that I wonder?

One of the locations I wanted to get a band shot was my fave the Optical Galaxy sculpture at the old Cameron Offices in Belconnen. I took this as a test shot and then tarted it up a bit processed it for your viewing pleasure. Fisheye of course.

Pencil Drop
Coloured pencils refracted in a water drip.

So the theme for this week's #macromonday  is Art Supplies ... who knew! Apparently not me as I was busy posting pictures of rain kiss'd crickets. Coloured pencils are definitely art supplies. Is anyone like kinda addicted to stationery?

ARTISTS! If you're sharing your work on Google+ there's one important new "feature" you're going to want to disable immediately! Auto Enhance.
You know those colors you slaved over for hours to get just right? Google+ thinks it can do better, and if you don't turn it off it will boost up the saturation and blow out the contrast, forcing you to go back to every image individually to undo it.
Or, you can nip it in the bud right now. Go to the left to make the pop up menu appear, hit settings, and uncheck the box I've highlighted below.

In March 2012, a large storm system, fed by a cyclone up on the Queensland coast pounded and drenched the NSW Coast and far south coast. I was staying at Jervis Bay at the time and this is taken off the South Point looking toward Bowen Island. That's a big sea down there.
