NASA2,409,278Having trouble watching the event? Try watching directly on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8LI5JiWEfs --------- Have you ever asked a question to someone in space? No? Well now’s your chance. In a first for the agency, NASA will host a Google+ Hangout live with the International Space Station on Feb. 22 from 10:30 a.m EST to 11:30 a.m. EST. Google+ Hangouts allow people to chat face-to-face while thousands more can tune in to watch the conversation live on Google+ or YouTube. This unique opportunity will connect you, our fans, with astronauts living and working on the orbiting laboratory 240 miles above the Earth. During the event, several video questions will be selected and answered by astronauts on the space station and on the ground. Additionally, NASA will ask real-time questions submitted by our followers on Google+, Twitter, and Facebook. Unique and original questions are more likely to be selected. You can view the Hangout live on the NASA Google+ page or the NASA Television YouTube channel to watch the astronauts answer the questions. SUBMITTING REAL-TIME QUESTIONS To ask a real-time question during the event on Google+ or Twitter, please use the hashtag #askAstro. You can also post a comment on a thread on NASA’s Facebook page that will open for questions on the morning of the event. WATCHING THE GOOGLE+ HANGOUT To join the hangout, and for updates and opportunities to participate in upcoming hangouts, visit NASA's Google+ page at http://plus.google.com/+NASA. During the hangout, astronauts Kevin Ford, Chris Hadfield and Tom Marshburn will answer questions and provide insights about life aboard the station. Station crews conduct a variety of science experiments and perform station maintenance during their six-month stay on the outpost. Their life aboard the station in near-weightlessness requires unique approaches to everyday activities such as eating, sleeping and exercising.NASA Long-Distance Google+ Hangout to Connect with Space Station2013-02-22 16:30:008329

An oldie but goodie for celestial fireworks.

#BAFact: On July 4, 1054, the light from an exploding star reached Earth. It’s now the spectacular Crab Nebula.

Once upon a time, a massive star ended its life in a titanic explosion. Shining with the ferocity of billions of stars, the intense light swept outward. It took 6500 years from that wave to reach Earth, where it was first noted by Chinese astronomers on July 4, 1054. It was bright enough to be seen during the day for several weeks, but eventually faded.

The debris from the explosion expanded as well. Not as quickly as light, of course, but still at several thousand kilometers per second. Today, that gas cloud is over 10 light years across - 100 trillion kilometers, or 60 trillion miles. We call it the Crab Nebula, and it's one of the most fantastic and beautiful objects in the sky.

So what could be more appropriate for the United States celebrating its Independence Day than the ultimate fireworks show?

Sounds pretty cool though no more Indy stunt show: (
The Star Wars expansion will include “a Dagobah centerpiece” where Echo Lake and Gertie the Dinosaur currently sit. Star Tours will remain, and other attractions will be added, although no details have leaked yet on those. The Jedi Training Academy will be relocating indoors to an existing building.___I wonder if they will eventually add a star wars themed hotel

Is it scalable for long term food production say off the coast of african desert?
“The hope,” writes Gebelhoff, “is that the company’s success so far may lay the foundation for a new form of crop production that can be done without harming the environment.”

This is fascinating. Even if fails, Gamberini’s project will probably provide a trove of useful data on how to rear crops in a harsh, barren, or otherwise unconventional agricultural environment, be it the ocean floor, or another planet.

Buried in the Heart of a Giant
This rich view of an array of colourful stars and gas was captured by the Wide Field Imager (WFI) camera, on the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile. It shows a young open cluster of stars known as NGC 2367, an infant stellar grouping that lies at the centre of an immense and ancient structure on the margins of the Milky Way.

Anyone else avoiding Apple Music because of iTunes?
I am pretty happy with Google  Music All Access (web, android, iOS) though would be nice if they added a family tier for multiple streams, but that isn't enough to get me to switch.

Well, I WAS going to try Apple Music today. Seeing as Apple didn't get the memo about web based players, and is forcing you to use iTunes, I will not be trying Apple Music after all. Seriously. What freaking year is it?

I guess I should not be surprised by this. Apple is always years behind and late to the party when it comes to new to them services.

Those of you willing to install software on your computer that you don't need or happen to own an Apple device, let me know what you think. I am generally curious. So far Re/Code and The Verge have said it's a confusing service.___Anyone else avoiding Apple Music because of iTunes?

Spirals in the D Ring
Although the D ring of Saturn is so thin that it's barely noticeable compared to the rest of the ring system, it still displays structures seen in other Saturnian rings. Here the spiral structures in the D ring are on display.
The D ring spirals, discovered in Cassini images, are believed to be due to a warp in the ring created in the early 1980s. The precise mechanism remains the subject of scientific debate. Over the course of the Cassini mission, scientists have been able to observe the spiral winding ever more tightly as it evolves.

I heard them talking about this on the radio this morning. I am not a fan of Ranch, but I am sure some folks will love it.

It's not going to win a James Beard Award, but it may well prove wildly popular with families looking for a spot to grab a meal before heading to a Cardinals game -- or even just Soulard drinkers trying to sober up with a huge plate of loaded fries, ranch on the side.

course the whole robot switching to kill mode was the main plot.

Interesting read for how Ant Man closes out Phase two and world building plans for Phase Three
It really is the movie that closes out Phase Two. Phase One ended with Avengers. So some people thought that Phase Two would end with an Avengers film. But the truth is, there is so much inAnt-Man: introducing a new hero, introducing a very important part of technology in the Marvel universe, the Pym particles. Ant-Man getting on the Avengers' radar in this film and even – this is the weirdest part, you shouldn't really talk about it because it won't be apparent for years – but the whole notion of the quantum realm and the whole notion of going to places that are so out there, they are almost mind-bendingly hard to fathom. It all plays into Phase Three. It became very clear that Ant-Man is the pinnacle and finale of Phase Two and Captain America: Civil War [May 6] is the start ofPhase Thre... more »

Saturn gets the Triple Crescent Moon
The three moons shown here -- Titan (3,200 miles or 5,150 kilometers across), Mimas (246 miles or 396 kilometers across), and Rhea (949 miles or 1,527 kilometers across) -- show marked contrasts. Titan, the largest moon in this image, appears fuzzy because we only see its cloud layers. And because Titan’s atmosphere refracts light around the moon, its crescent “wraps” just a little further around the moon than it would on an airless body. Rhea (upper left) appears rough because its icy surface is heavily cratered. And a close inspection of Mimas (center bottom), though difficult to see at this scale, shows surface irregularities due to its own violent history.
This view looks toward the anti-Saturn hemisphere of Titan. North on Titan is up. The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on March 25, 2015.

+NASA is with you when you fly
A new software tool developed by NASA, and being deployed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is positioned to help air traffic controllers manage the nation’s skies.

The software, called Terminal Sequencing and Spacing (previously called TSS, now TSAS), will help air traffic controllers manage airspace within a doughnut-shaped region of sky that begins five miles from a major airport and extends outward about 35 miles. This new technology will allow pilots to better use flight deck automation to fly fuel-efficient, optimized profile descents, which streamlines glide paths toward the runway reducing fuel use and noise toward an airport, and safely permits more flights to merge together at a point where they can be cleared for final approach and landing.

“With TSAS, NASA’s aeronautical innovators have developed another valuable tool that will benefit our environment, our economy and every individual air traveler,” said Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator of NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate in Washington. “Our strong partnership with the FAA is a key enabler of the rapid and successful development of this TSAS technology.”

Can we get to a point where we have too many comic book TV shows?
With the movies you only have maybe four a year which is a lot less than 26 episodes per show on TV.
