I attended an amazing talk of the amazing Michel Spiro, the former Director of the epic LEP machine which was replaced by the LHC in 2000 when the researchers were looking at the B-E-Higgs Boson in the region of mass of 115 GeV. It was his decision to STOP the LEP and open the door for physicists, civil engineers and scientists to start working on the LHC machine.

Black hole's super-fast spin revealed
Astronomers have made the first reliable measurement of a supermassive black hole's spin, showcasing a technique that could help unravel the mysteries of these monsters' growth and evolution.
The enormous black hole at the center of the spiral galaxy NGC 1365 is spinning about 84 percent as fast as Einstein's general theory of relativity allows it to, researchers determined. The find demonstrates that at least some supermassive black holes are rotating rapidly — a claim previous studies had hinted at but failed to confirm.

Build me a bridge so I can climb to the top;
and take a big breath of air;
No one can tell me what is wrong;
'cause I am the only one here;
Life kept on running faster than me;
I could not stop her so she kindly stopped for me;
Show me a mountain;
I am ready to see it sitting right in my hands;
My love is an ocean;
but I can't even swallow one grain of sand;
Oh, often I couldn't stand the stench of my own self;
but still I never wanted to be anybody else;
People are searching through their black abyss;
looking for all the things that they could have missed;
But I've never found a quick way to cure;
Give me some time and as it goes by;
I'll try to figure out what makes sense;
It seems to me that everything should come together in the end.;

I don't belong to a community or a doctrine, even though I'm a Nietzschean.
As a young student of Theoretical physics, I used to look at Mathematics as a tool , but lately [last three years] I became 'convinced' that mathematics is more than a tool, mathematics is probably reality, and like E. Cioran said: "What can be said, lacks reality. Only what fails to make its way into words exists and counts." and in fact, mathematics could never be converted to human languages.
Asking about the WILL to achieve something big, well, it's inverted actually because if you have an aim and a goal then the WILL is included in the process. It's fucked up if one looses his aim. I am not claiming that there is a general... more »

For me personally, I believe that Leonhard Euler is probably the greatest mathematical physicist of all time. Period.
He actually worked on and contributed to almost all the physics and the mathematics of his time.
I don't like the fact that he doesn't get enough rep like Joseph Louis Lagrange & William Rowan Hamilton do for instance. I can safely claim that "Euler" is everywhere in classical and modern theoretical physics, more than any other scientist.
He was amazing. A brilliant & unique mind.

Science and philosophy of science are always based on experiments and facts.
Here's a cool video about three types of parallel universes spreading in the scientific and philosophical communities. You will like it. But you gotta rewind it.
This is also an interview with Professor Brian Greene that I loved so much; especially this statement that you gotta hear it even if you can't watch the entire video.

Brian Greene
When I write general level books (or posts on my page), I generally avoid equations as most people are more comfortable with plain English.
But equations are beautiful. Within a few symbols, equations can capture deep mathematical truths or far reaching aspects of the physical universe. Here are 3 of my favorites.
The first equation is amazing: in a single simple expression it ties together three basic mathematical constructs: Pi, i (the square root of -1), and e (the base for natural logarithms).
The second are the Einstein Field Equations from General Relativity, which relate the curvature of space-time (left hand side of equation) to the distribution of energy-momentum in space-time.
The third is, well, one of those equations that makes your jaw drop. It is a formula for Pi that was discovered by the singular mathematical genius,... more »

Superstrings and the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics
by Gerard 't Hooft
According to well-known arguments, classical, deterministic systems cannot reproduce all fundamental quantum phenomena. However, when one decides to ignore the no-go theorems and tries to construct deterministic models anyway, it seems that lots of interesting models emerge. Until some time ago, it seemed to be hopeless to construct deterministic models that could account for the Standard Model, but we found a deterministic system that very accurately seems to reproduce (super)string theory. Such an idea would revolutionize string theory, but would contradict the no-go theorems. We discuss this peculiar situation in theoretical physics. Does the notion of "invisible conspiracy'" make sense?

Revolutionary Laser System May Produce Next Large Hadron Collider
An international team of physicists has proposed a revolutionary laser system to produce the next generation of particle accelerators, such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)... The International Coherent Amplification Network (ICAN) sets out a new laser system composed of massive arrays of thousands of fibre lasers, for both fundamental research at laboratories such as CERN and more applied tasks such as proton therapy and nuclear transmutation.

Hence also morality is not properly the doctrine how we should make ourselves happy, but how we should become worthy of happiness. It is only when religion is added that there also comes in the hope of participating some day in happiness in proportion as we have endeavoured to be not unworthy of it.

Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia is the oldest freshwater lake on Earth, and one of the largest and deepest, containing around one-fifth of the world's freshwater. In winter, it freezes over, and these beautiful transparent, turquoise masses of broken ice appear momentarily in March, caused by the unequal structure, temperature and pressure in the main body of the packed ice.

Origins of life? Discovery could help explain how first organisms emerged on Earth
A structural biologist at the Florida State University College of Medicine has made discoveries that could lead scientists a step closer to understanding how life first emerged on Earth billions of years ago.
"..If Blaber's theory holds, scientists may refocus where they look for evidence in the quest to understand where, and how, life began...
"Rather than a curious niche that life evolved into, the halophile environment now may take center stage as the likely location for key aspects of abiogenesis," he said. "Likewise, the role of the formation of proteins takes on additional importance in the earliest steps in the beginnings of life on Earth."

Why Nietzsche is so great?
There are so many reasons, first of all, thanks god we had Kant, Hegel and Spinoza before him, this is very crucial.
However, Nietzsche is great basically because he is not limited to his era.
He even said that people will be able to READ and UNDERSTAND his philosophy around 2000s, he passed away in 1900.

It [Super String Theory; M-theory] really is a nice theory. The only defect I think it has is probably common to all scientific theories. It's wrong!
~Edward Witten
Professor Witten is probably the greatest Theoretical Physicist alive.(I go for Gerard ′t Hooft or Murray Gell-Mann though).
Ed Witten elaborated M-theory with the known 11 dimensions.
We don't know if we should consider him a physicist or a mathematician. He's kind of like Carl Friedrich Gauss. He's outstanding. He received Fields Medal in 1990, a medal which is equivalent to Noble Prize but for Mathematics. He is the first physicist who receives this prestigious medal.

Lockheed Martin wants to use a quantum computer to develop radar, aircraft systems
Defense contractor Lockheed Martin is using a quantum computer to develop new radar and aircraft systems, the New York Times reports. The use cases show commercial adoption is getting closer.

Tow: I wanna know whether M-Theory (Super String Theory) is right or not.
