Hello g+-kins,
on this lovely Sunday I want to show you something straight out of my family history. This is my grandmother's sewing box. It is handcrafted and was given to her as she finished her seamstress apprenticeship certification around 1950.
She worked as a professional seamstress most of her life, a job that helped her raise my mother and work from home as my grandfather was mostly away on business. Some of my fondest memories of her include her sewing room, my grandmother hunched over the machine, and zippers of all length and colours hung up on the walls.
Sadly, she never got to teach me, because I was young and dumb and didn't know any better. When I started learning on my own, she had already passed away. However, this weekend, my Grandfather pulled me aside and told me that my sewing, while of course not professional in any sense of the word, would ha... more »

I am happy. I even made a picture looking like something the cat dragged in just with a big smile to proof it. Why am I happy, you might ask?
BECAUSE I GOT ACCEPTED! I am going to London for my Master. I am going to do Japanese Studies at the SOAS in London.
JESUS, I am still in shock. This... This is the best possible, the best imaginable thing that could have happened.
Thank you +Paul Snookes for your great help. I couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you +Terry McNeil and +Moritz Tolxdorff for believing in me.
You guys ROCK

So, I made a blue Totoro dress and wore it to the Leipzig Book Fair. It was great fun, and I am proud of myself because the costume is 100% self-made. Yes, even the top underneath.

I am so done with this.
See the first picture? That is the way into our garden. Today, as in “what is this ground thing your keep talking about”. And I have to go in, because we separate our waste and we are annoyingly good people who keep a compost heap and actually use it. So I am walking in.
See that picture, those above the snow, those are not even my knees.
Now look at that. I shouldn’t be complaining, why won’t I have a nice little rest on this bench? Well, maybe because I am scared it will actually break in half with the next snowflake. Poor bench.
No, no, no, NO! You can’t fool me, snowy town panorama. Those people down there are miserable like me, because they have to shovel snow at least twice a day.
This is the path I just crawled my way up on. I dug it with my body.
And THIS is the path I shovelled ... more »

Some people are just pigs!
I officially had it now with the pigs I am apparently living with in this dorm. So I made a little statement and taped it over our cooking station. THIS is were I am supposed to cook!
