Acadia in moving pictures

In a trip through the hard drives cleaning out the dust bunnies I thought it would be fun to throw together a kind of best of reel of some of the clips collected over the last few years. Meant it to be a quick and fun project but after editing it on and off for the last week and a half it started to become less quick and then inevitably less fun, so it was time to finish it up, upload it, and move on.

Old Coast, Maine. 

Since I've been printing, printing, and doing more printing for the summer season- I finally ran into what the effects of a clogged print head looks like (for my printing photographer friends out there who've never seen this) pretty scary at first since that hadn't happened ever before in the almost two years of printing on my Epson 3880- just glad there wasn't a client there watching me react to that at the time. http://nateparkerphotography.com/blog/2013/4/old-coast-maine

Someone told me that my picture was the Bing search engine wallpaper for today. I wouldn't have known. I use Google. Is that good? Bass Harbor Marsh Snowfield

I haven't played the +Olivier Du Tré   #minimalmonday  game in a little while now- and I feel bad about that. Just haven't been making much mini work- like this one: it's more of a regular 'scape instead of a miniscape. Nonetheless this has been sitting on my desktop for the last couple weeks since I made it and it has really appealed to me- so I'll play it. What I like about it is the line that the grasses lead to the left from the bottom and the retrogression of the shape of the mountains in the shape of the wet snow in the mid ground. And that's that. Rock Seaside January Snowfog

Fodder for the +Olivier Du Tré  #minimalmonday  show, this is from a couple weeks ago, cause it's been minus 15f since then, and I don't go out in minus 15f but to get food and beer. Unless I'm on Antarctica and on an amazing Drakes Passage and helicopter trip, and I'm not. That's all. Should be getting back out and hearing the mirror flip up this week tho, got an absolute heat wave of 40 degrees f coming. But until then, really, can you blame me? Spruce Copse in the Fog

We've had something of a "January thaw" over New England the last couple days and I was wicked psyched for the opportunity to chase minimal compositions around the island in the gorgeous atmosphere that it was. I shot 177 images yesterday on two separate outings and where I made a few  pictures that I like enough this was the scene that I was hoping to find the whole time. I shot this tilted on my 24mm Ts-e and unless I'm wrong it's so far my favorite of the year. I'll play this for this weeks #minimalmonday  curated spectacularly like no other group (and I'm not just saying that for brownie points!), +Olivier Du Tré. Last Year's Christmas Trees

I don't know if we're playing #minimalmonday  this week cause of government hours and all for the holidays are we +Olivier Du Tré? Dug this one up from a year in review that I'm critically trying to consider for this year. 
Now more to the point: which is...? don't forget the spirit of the holidays the day after it's all over! Sometimes it's a stress, sometimes we end up going through the motions just because it comes up on the calendar- but the spirit of the season: (at least from my point of view or that's what they told me in school) is giving- ya? Cause it's always sweet to receive a nice $2200.00 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM II for Christmas or Boxing Day (whatever that is), but it's even better to give one- (Cough) HAahahaaha! Ya Right!

56 seconds at f/10 iso 50 with a B+W 110 on Canon 24mm f/3.5 Ts-e. Dark breaking storm clouds. The aperture selection was a consideration of balancing sharpness and a horizontal tilt.
