Free-Climbing Squirrel Chipmunk
With its lower mass-to-cross section ratio, squirrels are obviously superior when climbing, like most smaller animals. This one gave us a live demonstration on this wall.

I have been without Internet access for 30 hours (thunderstorm -> burned out cable modem & router), and, boy, did I miss it. Try it if you think you are not dependent. Most of the alternatives to G+ and work that I could came up with had somehow a need for internet too...

From the color, you'd think this mushroom would have a Strawberry Flavor taste if any, but that is quite off. It comes over rather creamy and salty, with a smoky note atop of it, kind of like bad BBQ sauce.

Jump Off Point, Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
If you hike the famous Appalachian Trail 2.7 miles to the east from the Newfound Gap parking lot, and then turn left, you will find after 3.3 miles the Jump-Off Point. Rattlesnake Crossing!
I jumped probably about 6 feet, backwards, when I realized that this snake was crossing the hiking trail one step ahead of me. It made a sound like two dozen people telling you at the same time to be silent ('shhhh!'), and really, I nearly wet my pants.
Shot in Mammoth Cave National Park, on the Good Springs Loop, last Saturday. The picture was taken after it had started to roll up next to the trail and was watching us.
