The top of Winston’s head smells just like the sea. I have no idea why this is. I stoop to plant a kiss atop his fluffy mane and suddenly... sea winds, sand beneath my toes, & the warm amber glow of the sun behind my closed eyes.~

I read somewhere once, something about...that when one is broken and when one's dreams have been shattered, it's the best time to truly discover who we are, to let go of the "story" and restore our sense of worth...through the rebuilding and redesigning of our lives into what we TRULY want, whom we truly are.~

There is a boy outside smashing dandelions with a stick.~

I believe him to be making serious polemics against hope (the destructive & acidic kind that stings little parts of you at a time) that waits for something exterior to swoop in & help you specifically--we see this every where in our society: prayers, communists (and their great leap forward), environmentalists & their claims of the world being self-corrective etc.

Essentially the boy is using the stick as a metaphor for his will, and, with his will, he crushes all wishing, hoping, and impossible projections.

But really... he's just bored with all of those dandelions--at least this is my interpretation. OK, I'll stop now (for awhile).~

Today's menu: Aristotle for Breakfast (the Physics specifically), Hegel (Phenomenology of the Spirit) for a big lunch, probably snack on some Kafka, before my dinner plans with Judith Butler--yes she does taste a little queer, but it is truly delicate post-structuralism served best with a side of psychoanalysis.~

Good morning G+ ~ I'm thrilled to see so many new faces (I'll write more to this later, as I'm off to spend the day in nature.) I hope this morning fills you with delight at all the wonders coming your way.~ ;-)

Why Watch?

Because it’s one of the most enchanting/remarkable stop-motion short films I've possibly ever seen. It shows how love and the ability to see beauty in the darkest of places allows us to transcend our loneliness and despair and find an authentic connection to our world. The rich textures, sounds, the expressions on the doll's faces, I was captivated. I hope it will touch you in the same way it touched me.~

It's a dark fairytale that takes place in a world where the inhabitants (yarn people) are born into a numerical class system. Faced with constant prejudice and persecution an oppressed "Zero" walks a lonely path until a chance encounter changes his life forever. Even in the face of hardships (or because of them), a particular "0" can avoid being a negative number and find his/her true worth.~
