I've just used Google Plus on my laptop as opposed to my phone.
Oh my gosh! What's happened? 
I don't like change !!
The layout reminds me of Facebook.  I'm not sure I like the way it moves. 
Whatever, suppose I'll get used to it, but why fix something when it ain't broke? huh?

Should the school day be longer and the holidays shorter as The minister for education says?

I taught for several years at Brooke Weston CTC - a new UK school opened in around 1990.

Traditional schools in the Uk start school at 9 am end at 3:30  - 2 weeks holiday for Christmas, 2 weeks for Easter, 6 weeks summer holiday July/Aug.

Terms length varies slightly and is split in half by a weeks holiday (Half term).

The day is split into 6 periods of 45 minutes. Some subjects work double periods to allow extended time to do practical subjects.

Brooke Weston's school day is 5 x 1.5 periods long starting at 08:35 and ending at 4:15 pm with a 15 min break for breakfast in the second period and a 30 min break for lunch in the 3rd period.

No playground, No out doors activity apart from games and an open courtyard  in the summer.

Hi guys. I'd like to use Google plus for a bit of research, hope you don't mind.
My son was recently diagnosed with having a Pilonidal Abcess.
Who here has /had one or knows of any advancements in its treatment? As from what I've seen the surgery looks barbaric!

Feeling incredibly tired today.

I have noticed that there seems to be an increase of people jumping on others, merely for having an opinion that differs from their own.
Or, and in many cases, that they have misinterpreted the person's meaning and then proceeded to practically witch hunt them down.
The thing that is disturbing is that it is happening a lot by people I talk to ... :-(
I'd like to see people give others a chance to explain in a nice way... if at all necessary, I mean.
Better still in private away from the main stream.
What I'm referring to is people merely having an opinion... not trolling.
I'm sort of glad not to be on here so much lately!

Snowflake-a-Day #37

In the recent past, I posted a few snowflakes that had pink or green colourings in the center. Saved specifically for #ScienceSunday I have one that exhibits both, in an alternating pattern in the center of this snowflake. Be sure to view large to see the colour pattern! #ScienceSunday is curated by +Allison Sekuler, +Robby Bowles, +Rajini Rao and +Chad Haney.

Now, I'm not sure why this exists. It had been proposed that the colour is result of optical interference, but I don't have any similar examples to compare it to. You'll also notice some rainbow colour in the wayward snowflake tip sitting on top (near the right-most branch), ad I cant explain that either. From it's position, it doesn't look like a prism is splitting the light and it doesn't look like a rainbow spot created by aerosol pollution.

A good year or glad to see it go?

For me it has been a year of immense struggle, personally and financially. It has been a year of big change.
It has been a year of many turning points and self realisations. 
I am stronger and better, now, nearly at the other end of it. 

If I had a crystal ball, I would have dealt with certain things better, but on the whole, it has been a good year and having events happen which forced change, I would not have made the those changes necessary to move forward. 
People have come and gone, some good, some most certainly bad.
