Who Are Your Golf Balls?
"A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

Security cameras might be one of those rare beasts that have an almost 100% negative branding. This video, collected via security cameras, I think does a great job of fixing some of that branding problem.

Someone very recently said to me that I was easy to do business with because I have the temperament of the 'girl next door'. I was also told that I come across as a pushover. For the record, that was BEFORE I had to put on my big girl pants and get down to business. I was then referred to as a 'shark' and 'deceptive'. Why? Because I was misleading by being nice, and once again was referred to as being the 'girl next door'. (Trust me when I say the gender issue was at play here as well.)
By the way, I got the deal exactly as I wanted. No compromise on my end because I was confident of the value I brought to the table and I was willing to walk away. Every time that happens (yes, it happens to me enough to make a note of it) this is what goes through my head:

Business cards have been around forever right? +MOO.COM my all time favorite business cards on the planet, just merged their beautiful cards with a new & brilliant idea. Programmable business cards that your smartphone can read. NFC (Near Field Communications) remind me of RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) used in retail establishments, animal identification and even airport baggage handling.
If you could program your business card to give additional information to a new contact, what would you do? Send a link to a great video you create just for new prospects? Link out to a 'hidden' web page full of offers and information? List out your hours and give driving directions?
PS - I need to get some new business cards ASAP!! I can't let this geekery slip from my grasp!!

Epic Hot Wheels Car Chase
This stop motion action film using toy cars took 6 months to shoot for just under 3 minutes of film! It was filmed using bespoke rigging systems and an iPhone with an application called Stop Motion HD.

One New Client Challenge
If you had to find one new client this week ... could you do it? If you couldn't pay your mortgage or feed your family unless you landed a new client this week could you get a brand new client? Would your sales process have to change? How? Would you need to postpone existing work to 'hit the street' to find prospects? Do you even know where to look?
Sometimes I feel as independent business owners / freelancers we get a bit stagnent. The 'feast or famine' cycle of either prospecting like crazy to find new clients and then burning the candle at both ends to do the work is holding us back. We forget we need to be doing both at the same time - always. Exhausting, I know. We need to build the systems now to prospect and produce simultaneously.

Google Pulls the Plug on Feedburner
Warning: This is the time where Lynette completely flipped out, raged, and called Google on the <bleepin'> carpet for forgetting how to think like a consumer...
*EDIT:* http://feedburnerstatus.blogspot.com/2012/09/known-issue-subscriber-counts-and-stats.html has a very brief & cryptic update.
Feedburner is G.O.N.E. with little/no consumer warning or alternatives. If this is a glitch Google better jump on the email STAT and let users know what is going on, give us a chance to migrate out and then seriously look at the multiple failure points they need to fix in this process.
Feedburner is a service purchased a few years back by Google that allowed blog and podcast publishers to create a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed so that people that wanted to get content automatically downloaded to them co... more »
