Lough Dan again and Luggala Mountain.

Once you get down passed the tarmac road and onto the track, this is the view that meets you. 
This is the second images taken on my trip through "my office".

After a quick bit to eat and a few more images down at Lough Dan, I started the walk back along the track stopping along the way to take a snap or two. As I have said before and will keep saying, Lough Dan, Co Wicklow is one of the best locations to shoot Landscape Photography.

Yet another one form my trip to "My Office"
Luggala Mountain with Cloghoge River, Co Wicklow.
Standing on the wooden bridge looking back towards Luggala. The bright river banks are used to draw you into the image while the near perfect clouds at drama to the sky.

When I'm not in "My Office" shooting B&W Landscapes form Ireland I'm more than likely shooting marathons. However this weekend just gone I was in England shooting the Tough Mudder UK. If you want to know more just Google it. This image is just 1 of many taken by me during the 9 hours shooting.
The background to the images is : You see the orange wires ? They have 10,000 volts running through them at the tips. The runners have to run through the pit of mud and get zapped. This poor guy got zapped and fell face first into the mud. The expression on his face says it all. I have never laughed as much that weekend at the suffering of others but you just had to.

In action at a wonderful waterfall we found while out walking around The Office last week in Lough Dan, Co Wicklow. 
We climbed down to the water level to get a good composition looking up at the waterfalls and using the water and rocks as leading lines.
This is just one of the locations form the 2-Day Wicklow Weekend Workshop :-)

Further to the post yesterday on the UK Goverment move on treatment of "orphaned content"

Another one from my walk to the "office" last week :-)

I had to wait a short while so as to get some light shining into the field with the tree. As you can see from the left hand side of the image, the weather and clouds were starting to close in and I think this was the last but one more image before the gear was packed away. The strong wind arrived along with some heavy rain showers.

Oh my ! 

I didn't know that there was such a big crowd for my lecture at PhotoFest 2013 on the Canon Stand.

A good few people came up to me afterwards to say some kind words and a couple of email came through also like this one:

"It was my intention to say to you at the end of your seminar "Transform Your Landscape Photography" that your seminar was the most useful, informative, and entertaining one I have attended in a long time. It is rare that professionals share their 'secrets' in such a manner and with such aplomb. However with a long queue waiting to speak with you I decided to put my thanks in written form, hence this email."

I would like to thanks all those who attended and hope you learned something.

OK here you go. "Lough Dan and bend in the river" from yesterdays walk in the office.
I had 4 hours of great weather while walking around and found a couple of new locations. I go down to Lough Dan regularly walking with the family and always come away with something different.

I have being very buzzy lately and haven't got to process my images or even get out and shoot for the past few weeks and this will be the case for the next couple of months. 
The image below was taken on a workshop with some students over at Clogherhead, Co Louth, Ireland for a sunrise. We had some nice waves on the rocks below over location which was ideal to show them the slow shutter speed effect on the water.

The funny thing about Ireland is the weather. We had snow and plenty of it over the last couple of days. However it goes as quick as it falls. The only snow thats left is on the high mountains now.
I went for a walk with the family on Easter Sunday down around Lough Dan, Co Wicklow thinking that I will get a couple of snow images. Answer = No snow. Only Scarr Mountain in the distance has snow. But this is the funny part. About 200m from where we parked the car there was 30cm of snow all around. 
Here I am stuck in the office doing the business side of the photography business ( finishing touches to the new weekend workshops and more on the upcoming Book ) and the sky & clouds are just magic.

I refuse to make limited editions of digital prints of digital images on purely ideological grounds, but Mike Johnston has an even more compelling argument for you to consider: they don't help the artist, only the secondary market. is the working title of my book I'm working on. The image here is the dust cover which is not completely finished as I will be changing the images of me. The Cover image and my daughters "Landscape" poem are final.

This is "My"  tree on the River Boyne. I claim it as I have photographed it for the passed 5 years now. I have a image from the same spot over the four seasons, which in Ireland can happen on the same day :-)

The River Boyne Project is something I have being working on for the past 5 years on and off. I would like the finished project turned into an exhibition.
Here is an images taken during a 3 hour walk along the banks of the river last Wednesday. I ended up with adding 14 images to the project. Below is one of those images.

I did a bit of "Archive Diving" (thanks to +Robin Black :-) ) today and found this image thaken a year ago. It's a couple of small tunnels on the road from Glengraff to Kenmare (N71) just as you pass form County Cork into Kerry.

Athena Carey Cover Photo Collage Template 01
Yesterday I switched over to the new cover photo style without realizing that it is HUGE.  I wanted to stay with something more like my previous scrapbook photos, so I made this template.  Some people expressed interest, so I am sharing the template and instructions on how to use it on my blog (my poor neglected blog is feeling very important today).  Here is the link:  http://goo.gl/NM5OJ   Enjoy! :)

Throwing out the gauntlet to all Irish and visiting photographers. We need a new cover photo to fit the new dimensions:  Cover photos are much larger than before (up to 2120px by 1192px), and they display in 16x9 when fully expanded.
Ideally the photo is generic, with no specific location and captures the mood and spirit of the Ireland we all love.
