Scotland Photowalk 2015221Here is the official Event for the 2013 UK Seaside Photowalk. The official kickoff will be Saturday morning, probably around 9am. Then again, there will be people out much earlier to catch the sunrise, that's for sure.  Please indicate whether you will be joining us, so we have a rough idea of how many people we can expect. Please note that this is not a confirmed booking or anything. Whoever shows up will be welcome.  If you can join us only for one day, Saturday or Sunday, that'll be fine, too, of course. We'll make sure to announce tour details and meeting points in a few weeks.  We hope to see you all there. And if someone has good connections to the weather gods, please let them know that we'd prefer the "no rain" option.  Cheers Athena & AndyUK Seaside Photowalk2013-10-05 09:00:0071

I was lucky enough to have the most amazing sunrise this morning on Bredon Hill. A bit of mist was still in the air as I shot this which gave a lovely pastel feel to this image. These are, I think, my favourite stand of trees.

Had another go at Warwick Castle tonight as there was a little more cloud to give something in the sky. This was 5 shots, each 1 stop apart and blended in Photomatix Pro. I tried the same 5 images in Lightroom CC's new HDR feature but it didn't do nearly as good a job.

Oh and Warwick Castle, if you're listening,  I'm getting a little fed up having to take the same view after hours. If you fancy giving a local photographer sunrise/sunset access to other viewpoints of the castle occasionally I'm your man!

I was up at 5 this morning to make the most of a forecast cool, clear  morning with early fog. By 6 the fog had lifted leaving the few butterflies I found covered in dew. I shot this one backlit and exposed for the highlights.

This superb hare trotted down the meadow towards me and, luckily, stopped just as he filled the frame of my lens at 600mm equivalent.

I rattled off this shot and two others before he got my scent and was away.

This was a nice surprise. I'd set up  a scrim net mini-hide hoping for badgers later and within 5 minutes this hare came down the track.

My gold standard for hare photos is +Damian Waters - I'm hoping even he would have been happy with this one.

I've had this photo in mind for two years. I love these trees and had always thought about having a rising sun behind them with gold/pink clouds in the sky. Previously I've been there and sunrise hasn't really happened or there have been no clouds. Yesterday I got both :)

Now the perfectionist in me looks at this and still thinks the clouds could be better but as this shot, at this time of year, requires a 3:30am start I might have to accept this one for a couple more years!!

I was up at 3:30am to head to Bredon Hill for dawn. The sky was clear as I left and all looked good but as I got  close to Bredon Hill forty minutes later I could see it was enveloped in thick cloud. I nearly bailed out and opted for a return to bed but as I had to walk the dog anyway I headed out and up.

As I approached these trees I could see a glimmer of orange through the cloud so waited in a cold, keen wind to see what happened. I was rewarded by seeing the clouds whip by and fade away leaving this superb sunrise.

20 minutes later the sky was blue, skylarks were rising to sing overhead as I watched roe deer and hares cross the meadows. From 5am to 7:30am I had the whole of Bredon Hill to myself and walked most of it amazed at my luck to be in such a beautiful place alone.

My second attempt this year at this photo came off for me. Last time the sun clouded over before it erached the ight position but earlier thgis week everything came together. Stood looking at this view with the birdsong all around me and roe deer, pheasant and squirrels to watch was well worth the 5am start to get the shot.

Four nights in the last week I've been stood on the bridge hoping for a decent sunset behind the castle and come home with nothing. Last night though things were better. It's still not the sunset I'd hoped for but it's nearly there. Again the rowing club were out training to give a little interest to the river.

I got the Adobe photographers plan a few weeks ago but never thought I'd use the Photoshop bit that much. I spent ages using Photoshop in CS2, 3 and 4 but havent touched it for a few years as I get nearly all I need from Lightroom. However thanks to +Glyn Dewis  Youtube videos I've started having a bit of a play again. So this shot comprises of 4 layers; the original woodland in snow, the deer, a white noise layer for the more distant snow and two blended layes of blurred closeup, moving snow made using the paintbrush then faded and blended.

Loads of fun doing it!

Up early for a wander around Ufton Fields Nature Reserve. The Spring flowers are just starting to come through (cowslip with dog-violets behind).

Shot using my old OM 50mm macro lens on an E-M5ii
