What am I missing here?
Someone PLEASE tell me there is some way to see who is online right now in my Hangouts list.
In Gtalk, it would show who is online before I "upgraded", but right now, all I see is a list of people i have recently spoken to. No indication of their current status. This is true in the new Hangout mobile apps, it is true in my G+ window and it is true in my Gmail window.
Please tell me there is a simple workaround. There has to be. cc +Vic Gundotra

I am MOST DEFINITELY seeing a sharp decrease in engagement since the launch of the new G+ UI. There's no question. Anyone else notice this? Less comments? Less +1s? Etc.

New Google Messaging: Unified or Even More Fragmented?
Maybe someone can explain this to me. The way Google messaging used to be was confusing. I would get a message in the Messaging section of the Google+ app and that conversation would be nowhere to be found on my PC, or in Gtalk. But at least when I had G+ open on my browser in one tab and Gmail open in another, the two messaging lists were pretty much the same.
Now, I see the Hangouts section in my G+ tab and Gtalk in Gmail. Totally different lists. In fact, in Hangouts, all I see are some names I can hang out with but no indication of who is online right now to chat with. Please tell me there is some smart way to filter contacts by current status and I just missed it.
It seems the need for a unified Google messaging solution is a real one but the product the company launched is even more confusing than before. What ... more »

Love Seeing +inneractive on +Techmeme
The Facebook Waze story is all over the place but nothing beats being first alongside sites like TechCrunch (although they credited me at the bottom of their post *(http://techcrunch.com/2013/05/09/reports-facebook-is-buying-social-mapping-and-traffic-app-waze-for-up-to-1b-to-court-more-mobile-users/), TheNextWeb, Engadget, and Reuters. I am a HUGE fan of Techmeme and it's always great to make it there!

Facebook is About to Buy Waze for $1 Billion!
The source claims that the negotiations are in the final stages. The article itself is in Hebrew so I will sum it up. This is happening.
Obviously not confirmed but the source is a reliable one. I have two thoughts on this:
1: Brilliant move by the Zuck. Location is everything in the world of context, especially when it comes to the potential for targeted advertising.
2: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! RIP Waze, I loved you for many years...

One Sign Google+ Is Going Mainstream...
The "What's Hot" section has been deteriorating for a while now. I used to open it as the first source of good content in the morning when deciding what to blog about that day! Now, it has turned into "Share this if you are watching The Voice tonight" and "+1 this if you love your mother." First of all, what is wrong with people?
More importantly, this is a sign that this platform is indeed growing up. I mean take a look at Twitter trending topics for example. So. Much. Junk.
I guess this was inevitable but I WILL say that the Google+ team should keep a close eye on the What's Hot section and try to keep the level up.

A 3D Pen!
A few months back, I read about a company that developed a 3D pen. As in a pen that prints images in 3 dimensions. The name of the company is @3Doodler (on Twitter)
I tweeted about how cool that is, and the company took a picture from my Twitter and sent me a 3D image in the mail. Just got it!
Can't tell you I know what this kind of thing can be used for but it is pretty darn cool!

Google+ Vs Facebook is the New Android vs iOS!
I cannot explain this from a psychological perspective but you might have noticed that people are VERY serious about their choice of a mobile platform. Sometimes, they are too serious.
Well, it seems the iOS Android argument is getting old and people get all hot and bothered when you talk about the war between Facebook and Google+. I posted an article on Facebook about how fast Google+ is growing and surprise surprise, close to 200 comments trashing this platform.
I answered every single comment as well as I could but what struck me was the passion people felt about what is, at the end of the day, a Website.
