Struck by lightning.
At that moment—and this part is a little foggy—a bright arc of electricity shot through the window and directly into my chest. I'm not sure whether the arc originated from the sky or the ground, but it knocked me out of my chair. I hit the concrete floor and bounced back up to my feet, which were shuffling at top speed into a bookshelf. I remember thinking, "OK, going to die now. Do not fall down. Do not pass out."

By law, a car dealer cannot sell you a vehicle that's under a safety recall until it's been repaired. But a company can rent you that vehicle or give it to you as a loaner.

Raechel and Jacqueline Houck were killed in 2004 while driving a rental car that had been recalled for a defect in the power steering hose that could result in a fire. The sisters were killed when the car, which had not been repaired, caught fire and slammed head-on into a truck.

Today I decided to write a book. Phew. 

Based on my Tips and Tricks for Hangouts on Air and Marketing Guide for Hangouts on Air, I wrote up a big ebook on how to run and market your Hangouts on Air. It's completely revised, expanded and improved based on what I've learned after running literally hundreds of Hangouts on Air.

This is a rough draft of the book, but I've made it open to the public, and anyone can make comments. Please let me know if there are any ideas you'd like me to include. At some point I'll actually get it designed, with picture examples and then release it as a free PDF.

Google’s own version of Siri is coming to the iPhone and iPad “soon,” according to the company. On Wednesday Google announced an update for its Chrome app is now available for Android and that another update for the Chrome for iOS app will follow “over the coming days” and include Voice Search.

This secret court isn’t in a developing nation, struggling beneath a dictatorship. It’s not in a country experimenting for the first time with a judiciary and the rule of law. And, as Wired recently noted, it’s “not in Iran or Venezuela, as one might expect.” No, the court is here, in the United States (it’s in Washington, D.C., in fact). New Louisiana Law Will Jail Journos for Publishing Gun Info.
A bill headed to Gov. Bobby Jindal's desk would subject journalists to a $10,000 fine and up to six months in jail for publishing the names of concealed carry permit holders.

On Tuesday, the Louisiana Senate passed a bill that would imprison and fine journalists who intentionally publish information about the state's concealed-carry handgun permit holders. Reporters who violate the law would face penalties of up to $10,000, six months in jail, or both; public safety officials and police officers who leak permit information to the press would face penalties of up to $500, six months in jail, or both. Journalists in Louisiana say the bill is clearly unconstitutional, but that won't stop it from becoming law: After the Senate vote, it headed to Gov. Bobby Jindal's desk for his signature.

After the Storm: Deadly Flesh-Eating Infections?.
The flesh-eating fungus typically lurks in soil, water and wood and doesn’t affect humans. But the EF-5 twister that hit Joplin launched massive debris through the air. Some people who survived the initial tornado were left with deep wounds, which were infected with the fungus when they came in contact with debris. It's even possible the tornado carried the contaminated soil or debris for miles along its path, researchers wrote in the journal PLOS One.

$40 for a Case of Bottled Water? 'Preying' on Oklahoma Tornado Victims.
Investigators with the Oklahoma Attorney General's office have already uncovered evidence of businesses taking advantage of the recent tornado's devastation by price-gouging in the weather-ravaged region, including a grocery store accused of charging consumers $40 for a case of water.

Using a law known as the Emergency Price Stabilization Act, consumer protection investigators are teaming with local law enforcement to catch fraud as it happens. The law was passed after a tornado leveled the same region in 1999 and prohibits price increases of more than 10 percent on goods and services such as water and hotel rooms for 30 days after a disaster. It extends to 180 days for construction-related complaints.
