Went by a Google Office in an undisclosed location. I have to say, my office is a plain gray box in comparison to the offices here. I'm incredibly jealous. Now don't tell anyone what country this office of mystery may be in.

Had dinner at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal today. At dessert, they brought a giant ice cream cart to your table, poured a liquid custard into a hand cranked mixer, and then dumped in liquid nitrogen, making ice cream from scratch in like 5 seconds.  Very creamy and good. I took a video which I'll edit later, but here's a picture of a server making it for another table.  Yay, Window Light.

Not bad for a 1 week old service

Well not even a week, It's been six days since we've launched and one of the wonderful things of people using your app is that you get feedback - tons and tons of incredibly useful feedback!

We've been heads down for a few days and fixed all the little bugs that people found through out the app - wether it was international character support, more options in payment systems, better browser support, speeding things up on old computers - we were told about lots of little things and we've fixed hundreds of them.

We couldn't be more grateful for all the feedback you've shared with us, and we hope you'll keep it coming.

We also paid very close attention to how people were using Snapsation and improved things by making  the registration less intimidating by no longer sending users to the settings... more »

Was expecting an important Saturday package from UPS. They've updated the status to have a delivery date of Monday with the explanation "A correct street name is needed for delivery. UPS is attempting to obtain this information."

They then notified me via e-mail of this change, since I have a registered My UPS account.  Which coincidentally, also has all of my address information verified and associated with it.

So, you weren't sure of the address, but you knew it was coming to me, so you looked up my e-mail address, why not just lookup my real address in the same system and deliver on time?

Everyone knows William Eggleston's famous 1970s photo of a tricycle. If you don't, you should go Google for it. I wanted to do my own take on it, using one of the famous Google bikes. I've tried to do it before and it always eluded me, but I think I got it today.

So yesterday Flickr launched their new updated site, and after playing with it last night, I think it has some massive UX problems.

On the surface it looks pretty nice, but really, it's more like a coat of paint on the same old plaster walls. If you're viewing a photo set, and you click on an image to view it larger, it's really hard to go back to the grid which is really annoying. The speed is incredibly bad, making loading even small sets painful.

It quite clearly looks like it was launched way too early, imho. That rush to launch, destroys the experience and makes people less likely to try it again.  Let's see what happens in time, but Flickr always needed more than a new coat of paint.

Just corrected a major faux pas. +Aaron Nace had me circled and I totally didn't have him circled. If you don't know, Aaron is an amazingly talented photoshop artist (and photographer) and helps run phlearn.com.  If you haven't gone to Phlearn before, run and check it out. Some really really nice retouching tutorials at pretty cool prices.  I'm pondering buying their new pinup tutorial, I love the look Aaron gets with those images.

I needed to edit a video. Under the Creative Cloud, this would have cost me 50 bucks.  However, I am able to pull out my Premiere Pro CS5 disks (which I haven't used in about a year and a half) and edit the video for free. This is why the Creative Cloud sucks, I would have had to pay to make a 30 second edit I currently do for free. :-)

Free stuff!

Got your attention, didn't I? I needed some real brushes for a photo project a few weeks ago. I bought some paint, some wood, and made a bunch of brushes (over 90) I could use in Photoshop. I was thinking of selling the pack for 5 bucks, but then I decided, screw it. The G+ community has been so awesome to me, I want to give it away. In fact, take it, enjoy it, use it however you want. Just don't sell them. Using them commercially is fine. The only thing I ask, is that you reshare this post here on G+. :-)  Simple enough?

Download and enjoy, CS6 ABR Brush File: http://goo.gl/F0sPM

Warning, it's BIG because these are brushes shot with a D800!! ~128MB.

Enjoy!

Today my wedding ring no longer fit... it was too big. Now in actuality, it wasn't really my wedding ring. You see, my ring is titanium and it can't be resized. When I gained weight, I bought a second wedding ring of the exact same kind/style that was just larger. The larger one was the one that no longer fit. Today I was able to put my real, original, wedding ring back on. Just such a good feeling. I even asked +Sara Wiacek to put it back on my finger for me. :-D xo

Finally took the time to update my portfolio, 20 or so images are still missing descriptions, but let's face it, you're not here to read captions, you want to see photographs. :-)

I kind of wish I could block all of the new motion images from my stream. #AnnoyingMotion

Working on putting some new images in my portfolio and this tall shot from Time's Square kind of begged to be posted in the new G+ UI.

Yesterday I shared a long exposure shot with my bigstopper filter. This is the same basic shot, but in color and not a long exposure.

One of the marketing doublespeak talking points of Adobe's Creative Cloud, is that Adobe is saying you're always up to date.  I'll call BS directly on this piece of fluff, here's why...

There is no reason why Adobe couldn't keep users of CS1, CS2, CS3, ..., CS6 up to date --- they just didn't want to.  There is and was no technical limitation that prevented them from rolling out new features to users, but there was a business one: they wanted to sell you a new version of the software.

The move to the Creative Cloud subscription model doesn't resolve some technical hurdles that Adobe has magically overcome.  Chrome users almost always have the newest copy of the browser.  If Adobe really couldn't update the Creative Suite with new features because of technical challenges, then they could have always used Chrome's auto-updater whichdoes a... more »
