|Chris Mallory||59,709||Just 150 PeopleBecause it's saturday, here's a random circle share that consists of most of my favorite people on G+. In here are people of all sorts: people whom I personally enjoy engaging with, people whose content I believe to be interesting, people whom I can call friends, and people that don't know that I exist but make interesting posts anyway. It is certain that I've probably accidentally excluded some people - if so, my apologies! I've also purposefully excluded a handful of people such as real life friends, as well as +Miss M since she doesn't like being in my circles. Thanks for being cool, guys :)||2012-12-08 22:45:19||150||29||0||17||CC G+|
|Michael Earley||17,526||We added a few more sweet souls yesterday and saw some colorful, delicious foods from all around the world. Please join us next week and add these sugar coated people to your circles. Thanks to everyone for sharing.||2012-04-02 06:46:22||100||12||12||16||CC G+|

|Michael Earley||17,526||+Sumit Sen recently made a great post referencing the fact that pretty much everyone only have about 100 true followers irregardless of the number that is next to their name. True followers that is. Well if that being the case, you can keep 5 of your old followers and dump the rest and add this circle and be done with it. You will have the best time, see some awesome images from all over the world, you get get your entire google plus experience in one day and have six more days to shoot without having to check in. Well now your dilemma is solved. Less time, more quality time on the computer and more time to shoot. Oh by the way.. this circle is a bunch of the sweetest folks on google+ #SweetsSunday Take a look at the thread and you will know what I mean.||2012-03-19 15:25:29||95||56||11||17||CC G+|
|Michael Earley||17,526||This week we only grew in numbers by a few, but the amount of comments grew by more than a hundred. We were teased by wonderful images of fantastic sweetness, we had sisters teased and we teased each other. I think this is one of the most active conversation themes I have seen. It is a nice way to pass your sunday with a group of freinds that is getting more fun each week. And oh yea.... we have good looking food as well... mostly sweets at #sweetssunday please join us and please download and share the circle.||2012-03-12 08:17:33||85||6||3||4||CC G+|
|Michael Earley||17,526||Added a few more hearty souls to this self rising circle. If you have posted in #sweetssunday and I missed you let me know. If you would like to be included in this fun circle, just pick out a cool shot of something sweet and have it ready to share next Sunday. The cool thing about this circle and theme is that for the most part, it is not just post and run, but a fun way to poke your nose in through out the day and have a few laughs on Sundays. Please check out the tread from yesterday and see some of the wonderful images shared this week. Please share this so we can continue to grow.||2012-02-27 10:33:05||72||7||8||14||CC G+|

You know... I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain these women aren't feminists... Had I been one of these men, I would not have tolerated this abuse. Kudos, I guess. And F the police.

Gross. This complaint was in regard to an intro mass communication course. How could the professor teach this course and not discuss racism, sexism, and a handful of other -isms? What is wrong with these people?

Well, I was inspired by one of my drinking glasses today and decided to ink and paint a butterfly. It was freehand, so it's pretty asymmetrical, but I like it anyway.

Spent some time with my watercolors the other night. I came up with a giant hippie-snail and a blood-raining sky. Not sure what that says about me...

I found a fantastic article about one of my favorite topics: sex. Sexual behaviors in other cultures truly fascinate me, but sex is one of those things that, no matter how hard I try to remain culturally relative, gets to me sometimes.
The author, Jesse Bering, is a frequent contributor of +Scientific American and other well-known publications. Much of the content from this article is expanded upon in his new book Perv.

So, I came across this old photo today and thought it'd be appropriate to share, as it is Veteran's Day here in the U.S.
Here, you see my grandpa (middle) and a couple of his air force buddies. I don't have the original photo, but when I first scanned it, I made note of what was written on the back: Feb 1950; Ken Bichan (Ill.), Paul, Jerry Salin (Minn.); Robert E. Lee Monument, New Orleans

A pretty interesting article. I have always wondered why everything I do never makes sense.
"If I had to express in one word what makes their personalities different from others, it’s complexity. They show tendencies of thought and action that in most people are segregated. They contain contradictory extremes; instead of being an individual, each of them is a multitude."

Why the line between politeness and bossiness is a linguistic mirage.
In this short aside from his book Debt: The First 5,000 Years, David Graeber explains the origins of "please" and "thank you."

My good friend Hanna Al-Jibouri is currently teaching fourth graders in a high-poverty Tulsa elementary school. As with any such school, supplies and resources are limited, so she is asking for help from donors via +DonorsChoose.org.
If you choose to make a donation (of any amount), it will be matched dollar for dollar if you enter the match code INSPIRE on the payment screen. This awesome match offer lasts through October 29, 2013.

I've noticed this video going around lately, especially on Facebook, but it was being shared from Upworthy.com and I kind of have a problem with that site, so I was hesitant. The fifth or sixth time it showed up in my feed, I finally clicked and watched it. And I loved it. This young woman says a lot about what I feel daily and never know how to express. And she says it all so beautifully.

It feels kind of weird being 24. I had a great birthday weekend though! I got to do so much fun stuff! +Jesse Ronk took me to the drive-in to see Prisoners and Insidious: Chapter 2 on Friday. And on Sunday, we went to the museum of torture devices in Alton, IL and afterwards, we went to dinner and played Yahtzee while we waited for our food. Oh, and I saw the world's largest ketchup bottle. And yesterday I got some kewl clothes and a book featuring German prints and we played a board game called Huggermugger!

+Jesse Ronk and I did a bunch of fun stuff yesterday in celebration of my birthday (which is actually on Monday). First, we went to Eckert's Farm and looked at pumpkins and enjoyed some yummy frozen custard. Then, we went to the chili cook-off in downtown Belleville. We also went to this vintage shop I have been wanting to go to. We had pizza for dinner and then we went to the drive-in to see Prisoners and Insidious: Chapter 2. I had such a good day!
I meant to take pictures of all the fun things we did, but I only have this one of me in the dressing room at the vintage shop (loved this dress, but it was too expensive) and another of the sign outside the drive-in. Oh well.
If we end up going to the museum of torture devices tomorrow, I will have many more pictures to share.

OK, I had a pretty weird dream. The end was my favorite part, but also the scariest.
I dreamt that Jesse, my grandma, some other family members, and I were going to meet these people who were apparently family friends. We met somewhere in the middle of what looked like Indiana. Once we got there, they handed us all guns and said that ogres were coming and we were going to need to protect ourselves, but afterwards, we were going to play a really fun game.
We didn't have to deal with the ogres really; I think we just ran away. Somehow, we ended up at this old house in a very strange part of town. The streets were made of cobblestone. The house was so pretty. The outside was brick and it had all its original windows. The inside was lit only with dim lamps, so it was somewhat dark. The house was huge. It had three floors! I loved the staircase.
So, at this house,... more »

+Jesse Ronk and I visited St. Louis together for the first time on Monday. I only had my phone with me, so I really don't have too many pictures to share. (Plus, my finger was partially blocking the camera lens in about half of them, lol. Dunno how I didn't notice!)
So, here are just a few pictures from our seats on the Link, food and drinks from Culpepper's (delicious), and the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis.
We had a really nice time, although we got a bit of a late start. And it was very hot, so I was sweating the entire day. I was very happy we found the cathedral–it felt so cool inside and was very beautiful. I am looking forward to going back and experiencing some more new things!

A very interesting blog on Tumblr... The tags located on the right are especially helpful. It seems that a lot has been put into this project. Check out the mission statement. :)
After clicking through several pages and reading about various works, I can say I had only seen one of them previously. I really wish we would have covered some of this in either of the art history courses I took a few years ago.

I'm not even following too many people, but I think about half of them created their profiles when G+ opened, followed me, and never came back, lol. So I'm going to get rid of them! I have been in so much pain this week. I visited urgent care on Tuesday where I was diagnosed with TMJ disorder. TMJ is a problem with how the jaw connects to the skull and it can be caused by a number of things. Stress and nighttime grinding of the teeth are most likely what's causing mine. It feels like I have an ear infection, toothache, and migraine at the same time, all on the left side of my head. Today it has spread further down and is affecting my neck muscles.
I have been prescribed pain killers, which do next to nothing, even if I take them with OTC ibuprofen or naproxen. I left work early tonight because it hurt so badly... I just don't know what to do. I am going to try to get in to see a dentist, but since I am moving in about three weeks, it does not seem likely that anyone will be able to see me. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for how to deal with this unbearable... more »

In her article about dark tourism, Erika M. Robb discusses the tourist interest shift from sites centered on leisurely experiences to destinations that focus on human suffering and death.
You know, "dark tourism" does appeal to me, but so does any other type of tourism. As long as I'm learning something, I'll probably enjoy it. When I went to Washington, DC for an eighth grade trip, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in Ford's Theatre and visiting the Petersen House. As the tour guide spoke about the tragedy, I imagined the events leading up to President Lincoln's death. When the guide showed us where John Wilkes Booth landed on the stage after shooting the president and jumping from the balcony, I realized that whatever I was feeling in that moment would probably not be shared with any one of my classmates. So...I really like that this article mentions the problem of audience... more »
