Today is the 23rd b-day of Cabo Wabo wow I can't believe it. I wanna thank the red heads from around the world for the success of the Wabo it's all your doing. This is far beyond a dream I had and much more than a business to me. It's become a way of life for me/us. I can't wait for the b-day bash to celebrate with ya. Hangin with my buddies before the show at Orange Beach, Alabama last night - Kenny Chesney, Grace Potter, Emeril Lagasse, and Louis Messina... Kenny invited me up onstage and we tore through 55, finish whatcha started & rock candy!

Sammy's Baja Salt Mine is back up and running for the best margarita ever! 1oz fresh Tahitian lime juice. 1/2oz damiana. 1/2oz Cointreau 1 1/2 to 2oz Cabo Blanco or Reposado. 1/2 tsp agave nectar or good raw sugar/ simple syrup- all works fine. Put in shaker over med size ice cubes. Not crushed (crushed ice is too watered down). Shake the hell out of it. Run rim of small martini glass with left over lime and dip in flaky sea salt (mine if in cabo- ha!)- not too much. Shake again pour into glass and forget the garnish. Drink it before it warms up (reason for smaller glass). Salute. Sammy

Very sad news this morning about the passing of the great Andy Johns. Having had the pleasure of seeing him do his magic drum thing with Chad and Alex on two of my favorite CDs in my musical life, I'm not sure there's anyone else that can get that sound much less entertain the troops the way ole Andy could. My love to Annette and family. A big loss to rock music.

My trip to Vegas last week was awesome! First we stopped by the Cabo Wabo for some tacos and margaritas. I ended up jammin with a country rock band that rocked 2 female fiddle players - awesome! Eddie Trunk, Kari and I had a blast - the Trunk is the best hang! What a trooper, he took a bottle of Beach Bar rum and a bottle of Cabo back to his hotel room???? My man.

Friday was all about the Fantasy Camp. After the previous night I was not ready to play and sing all day, but here we go. With 12 bands made up of mostly Redheads I had a blast singing stuff I forgot long ago! Bro and Vic put the bands together and Billy Sheehan joined on bass - what a player - Space Station #5 rivaled the original! Kip Winger always cool, Lita Ford lookin good as ever,and Joe Vitale rocked Rock Candy - 2nd to the mighty Carmassi on that on deep pocket. As most Redheads know, I've been going to Cabo for my birthday ever since 1981 and in the late 80s my son Andrew was around 3 or 4 and he used to have play-dates with these two kids in the neighborhood - Christian and Carlos Carenzo. Check out the photos from my 42nd birthday with my partners Marco and Jorge and Andrew and the boys and their mother, Alicia.

So the other night when I jumped up on stage at the Cantina these two guys came on stage to jam. I had no idea that they were the same kids and they not only grew up to be musicians but their band Sister Dass is the band that plays at the Cabo Wabo on off nights! I was blown away to see them up on stage rocking the house. The b&w picture with me and my arms around them is from the other night after we had played together on stage and I'm holding the a copy of the original photo from when they were kids.
