This is a composite image.  I recently promised people on Facebook that I would create a tutorial on how to make these.  There are dozens of good composite tuts out there and I really don't have the time to make a propper one so I taped me creating this one.  It's a long, 7 part Youtube experience that I don't suggest anyone watch unless you really, really need to learn it...here you go: http://youtu.be/tWtBVsoOG4k

The Coachella Valley....The Salton Sea is in the back left. Palm Springs is out there in the middle and the San Andreas Fault runes through the entire image horizontally.

It has been a couple of weeks since +Khris Griffis  and I pulled a turn around trip to Yosemite Valley. We made it from a bar filled with women wearing plaid kilts in Valencia to Tunnel View just in time for the moon to begin shinning through the valley floor.

The moon never broke above the valley walls, it provided just enough light through the valley to give it a quaint feel. This is also about the time where Khris realized that he only brought a single CF card.

From a catalog shoot yesterday.

6 Alien Bee 800 lights..  Two 36 softboxes about one foot on each side and 2 feet behind the bottle...they faced each other directly to make up the fine line of light around the bottle.  A massive 7' Octabox behind camera and a 10 degree spot light pointed right at the logo.  Another 10 degree spot light 1 foot above and directly pointed at the top of the bottle.  another 10 degree spot light at the green label that was flagged with duct-tape so only a small hole was shown...kind of a DIY snoot. This took about 4 hours to figure out.  It was fun though. The flame is inside the bottle...

We just did some promo sots for this popular podcast called "we're alive."  I never heard of it but it has over 10mm followers.  Fun shoot  for sure.

A snake slithered over my foot while walking to this location.  I jumped 6' and screamed like a little girl.  The model laughed as she picked up what I thought was a coral snake and said "red next to yellow is a dangerous fellow, there's no coral snakes around her dumb ass."

This is an outtake from a shoot last week. I couldn't believe she held the pose. The black line around her is the time difference between the shutter being open and the flash duration. Some people actually try to achieve this look, I don't like it at all. Out of focus because I was on the run...

I shot on assignment in Big Sur for the last 42 hours and I found a few minutes to go shoot this.  The weather was terrible and I HATE mid-day landscapes but look at that coastline....  I think I'm going to have to find a way to move to Big Sur.
