Turnips are a vegetable we have just discovered and have been enjoying, especially raw in salads. White turnips, also known as May turnips are seasonal both in the springtime, and in fall. We are looking forward to having more and growing our own.

What are you doing about table tops? Do you have special table tops for food photography?

I've started building my own wooden ones specially for my food photos. It is just the top surface, without the full table.

Today I planted a common medlar in our (once to be) orchard.

The common medlar is not very known any longer but is already being cultivated for thousands of years.

For gardeners who want to have fruit available all year round it is one option, as the fruit becomes edible in the winter.

This morning we visited the market in Nienburg (Lower Saxony, Germany), as recommended by +Die Weser erleben - Touristik- und Freizeit-Guide.

Nienburg is located along the Weser river in the middle Weser region (German: Mittelweserregion), the area along the Middle Weser between Minden and Bremen.

For us it has been the first visit to Nienburg. We've been so busy with the renovation of our farm in Petershagen that we haven't really seen much of the area yet. It was a nice little trip and we are looking forward to come back.
