Alex Diaz (alexdiazeco)2,406I call this one IdeasThat's how interesting these folks are to engage with. As with the green circle I just shared, this one's bigger than 500 so not everyone is here. And just as with the greenies, let us know if you think you should be in it. The common denominator here is interesting content of no particular bent. Just plain fascinating. I can sit and go through this stream all day. Great people one and all.2012-04-07 19:19:005002234CC G+

Glenn Wallis714I am delighted and honoured to have been included in this circle from +Gideon Rosenblatt of people on Google+ who have currently under 2000 followers but who "write and share interesting content. Please feel free to share if you think others in your circle would benefit from some of the people in this circle. (I would recommend you add +Gideon Rosenblatt too !!)2012-03-12 21:15:05113313CC G+
Gideon Rosenblatt7,757Under 2K, Interesting, Original People CircleLooking for some new voices? People who share good content, but who don't have huge circles of people already following them? People in this circle:* have less than 2,000 people circling them* have interesting and original insights and content they share publicly* engage others in civil, respectful ways that build communityI spent a bunch of time curating this circle to try to make sure the people in it meet the above criteria. This is a good group of folks. My goal in sharing this circle is to help give some interesting people a bit more visibility here on Google+. I think it's important that we bake that kind of opportunity into the culture of this network. If people work hard to share good content and engage well with others, they deserve a chance to get recognized. +Liz ℚuilty did something like this for me when I was just getting started, and this is my way of passing the torch. I want to note that I failed in one of my original goals for this circle, which was to build a diverse group of people. My existing network here on G+ just couldn't get me there for this circle share, so that's something I will be working on addressing for future circles. In the mean time, since I'm not including myself in this circle (because I fail the first criterion), I'm going to be a bit more direct in my call to action. If you like the criteria for this circle and you agree with its goals, then please, add this circle and re-share it publicly. Thank you in advance for your help.2012-03-12 13:57:13114928869CC G+

Anyone on my G+ list have any suggestions about resumes?

I know that resumes are supposed to be short and sweet, but with my work experience and education, I am at a little more than 2 pages. I am thinking about cutting back on some of the work experience I have listed, but that lessens the impact of the resume.

I was thinking about cutting one job out of it completely as I was only there for a short time (less than 6 months) but that leaves a giant gap in my resume.

So if anyone has any suggestions, I am more than willing to listen.

Alright. I need help.

I am working on a tattoo machine power supply for my tattoo artist. It's a National Supply XP-586. It's an old-school machine.

It's a two transformer system. The first transformer that steps down the power went bad. The only identifiable markings on the transformer is a number 440400. It has two green wires and two black wires. The black wires are obviously the 120 input.

Here in lies the problem. Since the transformer went bad, I can't get any solid readings on the transformer. The readings I could get weren't reliable, my multimeter was jumping all over the place. I also can't find any information, like wiring diagrams or parts lists about this power supply

So I've turned to social media to see if you guys can help me. Just to clarify the details. It's a National Supply XP-586. It's the primary... more »

+Fraser Cain created an app called "Phases of the Moon".  I decided to give it a go a few days ago and I absolutely love this app.  Constant updates on what type of phase the moon is in and it includes the distance to the moon. You can also check dates in the future or in the past to see what phase the moon is or was in.  It really is a cool app for .99 cents and it gives me the ability to plan out my time with the telescope.

It's in the play store and I am sure there is an iTunes version of it, i just don't have any apple devices.

Here is the link to the play store so you can check it out!

I am looking for a good book about human evolution. Something that goes into depth but is still easy enough for me to understand.

I understand the premise of it, I am just craving more information about it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I should apologize since you guys added me thinking I was going to post a lot of interesting things. As of late I haven't been.

In case you're not aware of it, I suffer from a few disorders and when things get stressful, I become even more of an introvert than usual. Even simple things like social networks become too much for me.

I promise, it will change. Just give me some time to get through this stress and everything should be alright and resume being what I define as "normal".

Thanks for your patience guys and gals!

Seafood fishing in the Gulf. Creatures like crab and shrimp are showing up with deformities, including clawless crabs, shrimp with oozing sores and crab, shrimp and other sea-life not developing eyes. The BP oil spill is still having an effect on sea life at multiple levels of the food chain, including dolphins who are experiencing a high rate of still births. It will take a long time for the ecosystem to return to "normal" conditions, if it ever does at all.

Was out waiting for Saturn to come up above the horizon. I was biding my time by focusing in on Venus. I had everything all sited in, turned to put my camera set-up on the telescope and Venus had disappeared. I took the camera set-up out and put my lens back in to re-align Venus. I looked up and it was gone. Clouds had rolled in and I hadn't even noticed. I then started looking around and there wasn't a single star in the western sky. Amazing how those clouds will just creep up on you.

This is where Ohio needs to be headed. Seriously. Cleveland seems to be focused on medical technology, which isn't a bad thing, but it can't support an entire population alone. The automotive industry is never going to make the come back and be what it once was. It's time to start looking towards the future. The aerospace industry is just one of many paths we should be headed down.

"How much would you pay for the Universe?"

Neil deGrasse Tyson discusses the future of the United States with a financially strapped NASA and I agree with him 100%. I was born in the 70's and the things NASA did always amazed me and continue to be a driving force for me to educate myself. I'd sweep floors as NASA Glenn Research Center just to say I work for NASA.

Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors. They seem to be a pretty safe alternative to the nuclear reactors we're currently using. Thorium is more plentiful than Uranium and can be found not only on the earth but also on the moon. We're using uranium, which is as rare as platinum, why not use a less-rare element.

Definitely a good talk. About 10:00 minutes long.

More cool stuff from MIT

MIT researchers have shown, for the first time ever, that memories are stored in specific brain cells. By triggering a small cluster of neurons, the researchers were able to force the subject to recall a specific memory. By removing these neurons, the subject would lose that memory.

The latest Symphony of Science was released and it's about dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs!! Symphony of Science - The World of the Dinosaurs

Keep in mind, not everything you see in Hollywood is accurate. Velociraptors from the movie Jurassic Park were pretty scary. Towering over people, eating people and attacking a T-rex towards the end. In non-Hollywood, Velociraptors are only about the size of a chicken:

Also, if you're being chased by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, don't stand still. Chances are they can still see you. Binocular vision and and high visual acuity, plus an incredible sense of smell would indicate that even if they couldn't see you, they'd still smell the mess you made in your pants.

All the Symphony of Science songs are available here:

I strongly suggest you circle him, he's a very intelligent person and conversations with him are educational. When I read his blogs I commonly find myself agreeing with him and he also does me the favor of breaking legalese down to a language I can understand.

His current subject makes me sad though. Sorry, Trayvon Martin: They Just Don't Like You touches on the racism subject. "Touches" is kind of a bad word to use, it basically punches it in the face.

Trayvon Martin, a young black boy, who was just living his life, not hurting anyone was basically stalked, shot and killed by a white man named George Zimmerman. The amazing thing is that Zimmerman is still free after playing the "self defense" card. Zimmerman... more »

I was cleaning out my bookmarks and found it. I still chuckle at it like i did the first time i saw it.

Do these male republican legislators have a clue? Like even the tiniest clue?

CORBETT: I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes.

That has a creep factor of like eleventy gazillion. Just close your eyes, I am not going to make you watch. That sentence, being spoken about the subject of women's reproductive organs seriously makes it sound like rape. How can they not see that?

I feel totally bad for moderate republicans for what their party has become, but they need to start standing up to these nutjobs. Where are you moderate republicans?
